ROY HOOD
Roy Joseph “Joe” Hood, 63, Willisburg, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, near Bloomfield due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was a native of Washington County.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kim Hood Walker and Jessi Hood Long, both of Mackville; and his mother, Beulah Lewis Hood, Willisburg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hood.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Willisburg. The Rev. Earl Hazel will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Robbie McGuffin, Blake Milburn, Buddy Ray, Frankie Curtsinger, Gary Cheatham and Joey Byrd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark “Monk” Bishop, Jeff Bishop, Dale Spalding, Red Boblitt, Stuart Mitchell, Boyd Long, Greg Potter, Chuck Hagan and Michael Hood.
Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
ANNE JENKINS
Anne Nevins Jenkins, 80, wife of Gordon Lewis Jenkins, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at Heritage Hall Care Center.
Born Feb. 9, 1930 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Beulah Pearl Hanks and John William “Bill” Nevins and step-daughter of the late Frances Grigsby Nevins. She was the bookkeeper for the former family businesses, Twin Oaks Service Station and Jenkins Chevrolet in Lawrenceburg. She was a 1948 graduate of Lawrenceburg City High School, a member of First Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of Lawrenceburg Women’s Club.
Survivors other than her husband include: two daughters, Anne Lewis (Keith) Morris of Salvisa and Mary Ruth Ellis of Alexandria; two sisters, Bonnie Hatchett of Harrodsburg and Willie Frances Scott of Orlando, FL.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Nancy Gritton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 4–8 p.m. Wednesday with American Legion Auxiliary service at 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Bradley Holt, Clayton David Holt, Guy Patterson Jr., William Hatchett, Greg Grothe and David Hartley. Honorary bearers will be Walter Patrick, Tommy Nash, David Drury and Bill Dawson.

LULIE HOGUE
Mrs. Lulie Hogue, 73, wife of fifty-one years to Jack Hogue of Burgin, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born December 1, 1936 in Perry County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bud” and Della Browning Shepherd.
She was retired from Mercer Dress and Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. A member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church, Mrs. Hogue also enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, and bird feeding.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Hogue is survived by: two brothers, Howard (Juanita) Shepherd of Cornettsville, KY and Roscoe (Joe Anne) Shepherd of Slemp, KY; five sisters, Myrtle Turner, Dorothy Ashley, and Sophia (Ralph) Turner, all of Big Laurel, KY; Opal (Jim) Gray of Lafollette, TN, and Audrey Chesser of Bardstown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Shepherd and one niece Lana Hawkins.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 4, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Spivey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Thurman, William Turner, Joey Martingill, Mike Sheets, Ron Mudd and Roy Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Turner, Jamie Gray, Harold Shepherd, Tony Shepherd, Mike Ashley and Tyler Shepherd.
GARNETTA MEAUX
Garnetta Jones Meaux, 94, of Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of the late Ambrose Meaux, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 at the residence of her daughter in Louisville.
Born Feb. 14, 1916 in Mayo, she was the daughter of the late Ferris and Cordia Walker Jones and was a domestic care taker for several families in Harrodsburg, primarily for the Skeeter Reed family for several years.
Survivors include: four sons, Clement (Geraldine) Meaux of Cincinnati, OH, Causten (Francita) Meaux of Alabama, Ellison (Elizabeth) Meaux of Harrodsburg and Morrison (Van Detta) Meaux of Philadelphia, PA; five daughters, Meldora Meaux of Philadelphia, PA, Rochella (Shelby) Turner of Louisville, Maureen Meaux of Lexington, Delcie (Harrell) Birts of Louisville and Blanche Maudie (Steven) Hester of Clarksville, IN.; 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great -grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Vandervan Meaux; a daughter, Zenovia Meaux; two brothers, Ernest and Burnice Jones, and three sisters, Rowena Meaux, Antella Burrus and Loretta Coleman.
Funeral Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at the St. Peter AME Church with Rev. Bernard Crayton and Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Dividing Ridge Cemetery
at Mayo.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the Little Flock Baptist Church at 1044 South Hancock Street in Louisville and on Friday, Aug. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at the St. Peter AME Church in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Kevin Wicks, Jerome Wicks, Antone Meaux, Aaron Sallee, Malik Meaux, and Brandon Meaux. Honorary bearers are: Kenneth Jones, Myron Coleman, Tyrone Porter, and Causten Meaux, Jr.

R. C. MONTGOMERY
R. C. Montgomery, 88, of Danville, died Thursday July 29, 2010 at the Veteran's Center in Lexington.
Born June 15, 1922 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ruth May Montgomery.
He was a master plumber and owner of R. C. Montgomery and Son Backhoe and Plumbing Co. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, 3rd Infantry division, and was Sergeant of the Guards at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany. He loved to fish, hunt, farm, garden and game chickens.
Survivors include: his wife, Jane Griffin Montgomery; one son, Hugh (Judy) Montgomery, of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Angela (Phillip) Russell, of Danville and Myra (Mark) Young, of Benton; two brothers, Charles Montgomery of Danville, and Donnie (Jean) Montgomery of Mt. Washington ; a sister, Mildred (Leroy) Davis, of Buckeye; three grandchildren, Ricky (Cristy) Allen, Brittney Montgomery, and Phillip Ryan Allen, several step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, Dalton Clay Allen, Sarah Allen, and Jackson Allen.
The funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry and Kenny Cheatham, Mark, Danny, Ronnie, Gary, and Timmy Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers were Marty and Bryan Montgomery, Johnny Allen and Billy Leathers.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Veteran's Cancer Treatment Center, Leestown Road in Lexington.
BRUCE POULTER
Bruce Morgan Poulter, 84, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.
He was the son of the late Asa Bruce and Marie Beckham Poulter.
He was a member of Claylick United Methodist Church; Nifty-Fifty Sunday School Class; former member of the administrative board; retired truck driver for United Parcel Service; 1944 graduate of Lawrenceburg City High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Nina Thompson Poulter, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Rayma (William) Carter, Jane (Gilbert) Chisholm, and Laurene Gaunce, all of Lawrenceburg; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Orbrey Gritton, Jr. and Robert M. and Volita Thompson; brother-in-law, Gilbert Baxter, all of Lawrenceburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Poulter and two sisters, Juanita Baxter and Margaret Ann Harper.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 30, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Lowell Langefeld and Bro. Anthony Cleary. Burial followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

MARY PRESTON
Mary Ivadean Preston, 72, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan 20, 1938 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Flonnie (Douglas) Godbey. She was a homemaker, former Louisville Store clerk, and member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Glen Preston; two sons Mike Preston and Mark (Marsha) Preston; two sisters, Nannie Guthrie and Faustine Ames; one brother, Lester Godbey and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ernest Fields officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were: George Douglas, Anthony Wayne Godbey, Keith Anness, Kerry Anness, Brian Sears and Tommy Anness.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Heritage Hospice.
GLYN ROBERTSON
Glyn Robertson of Middleburg died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at his residence. He was 69.
Born in Kings Mountain on Sept. 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Roy Mitchell and Edith Henry Robertson.
He was the owner of Middleburg Service Station.
Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Faye Taylor Robertson; four daughters, Leslie Lynn, Carmela Andrade and Julie Nicole Ritchie, all of Harrodsburg, and Penny Leigh Roney of Stanford; two step-sons, Jeffrey Glyn Robertson of Stanton and Michael Ray Elliott of CA; one brother, William H. Robertson of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Junior Robertson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August. 4, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kevin Pittman. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Andrade, Ricky, Jimmy and Earl Jackson, Marvin Rayborn, Jeff Roney, Bennie Sheene, Mike Myers and Donnie Grider.
ELAINE SETTLE
Elaine Settle, 57, of Harrodsburg, wife of David Thomas Settle, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at her home.
Born Jan. 26, 1953 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Zelma (Brown) Reed. She was a retired Modine Manufacturing employee and was a member of Harrodsburg Community Church.
Survivors other than her husband include: two daughters, Kellie C. Frederick of Harrodsburg and Heather Bramer of Frankfort; one son, Russell Reed Cox of Lexington; one brother, John “Skeeter” Reed of Harrodsburg and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 4 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Carter Cox, Jeff Price, Chuck Settle, Billy Jack Frederick, Trevor Frederick and George Smith.

JOHN WARDLAW
John William Wardlaw, 72, of Harrodsburg, husband of Treasia Brewer Wardlaw, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home.
Born Dec. 25, 1937 in Sardinia, OH, he was the son of the late John E. and Gertrude Kier Wardlaw. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a retired project manager for the Stewart-Decatur Construction Co.
Survivors other than his wife include: four daughters, Tonya Morgan of Burgin, Trudy (Doug) Brown of Winchester, Tammy Wardlaw of Harrodsburg and Tassey (Todd) Garrett of Winchester and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcia McCann.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 3 at the Sardinia Church of Christ with Kevin Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Sardinia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Doug Brown, Todd Garrett, Jamie Morgan, Mike Cook, Dakota Cook, and Hunter Cook.
MILDRED BAILEY
Mildred Donovan Bailey, 90, of Harrodsburg, died Aug. 3, 2010 at her residence. Born in Mercer County on January 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mary Darland Donovan and widow of Paul Bailey. She was preceded in death by sisters Ruby (Ralph) Wilder and Rosalind (R. C.) Freeman.
Survivors include: daughters Donna Freeman, Louisville, Paula Freeman (Bob) Cairns, Harrodsburg, Patty (Doug) Lumpkin, Knoxville, TN, and step-daughter Gloria Davis, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Beloved survivors also include: Kristen (Jackie) Satterly and Patricia Phillips, caregivers.
Bailey was a milliner, an exhibitor of weaving at Shaker Village, owned a gift shop, and operated a ceramic studio in Perryville, KY. She was also a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 7, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Graveside services were held immediately after at Spring Hill Cemetery.
ARCHIE BRITTON
Archie Marion Britton, 68, husband of Betty Jean Tyler Britton of Mercer County died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born Sept. 7, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Marion Howard and Mabel Bugg Britton. He was a farmer, an Elder and Treasurer of the Cornishville Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed arrowheads, making furniture, bee keeping and was a NASCAR fan.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are three sons: Monty Britton, Brent (Martye) Britton and Archie Marion Britton, Jr. all of Cornishville, three brothers; Jerry (Alice) Britton, Billy (Joyce) Britton and Keith (Sheryl) Britton of Cornishville, four sisters; Donna (Wayne) Stratton of Harrodsburg, Nancy (Ron) Belcher of Danville, Sarah (Lawrence) Johnson of Cornishville and Doris June Britton of Lexington, three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Britton was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Partin.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Leonard Price, Jack Griffey and Kandi Adkinson officiating. Burial was in the Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery. Hanley McMullin, Hughes Coslow, Terry Coslow, Dudley Huffman, Jr., Brent Steele and Kevin Goodlett served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Lake, Jack Griffey, Kandi Adkinson and Marlene Griffey.
MARJORIE BROWN
Marjorie May Peach Brown, 95, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Walter Brown, died Sunday, August 9, 2010, at the Heritage Hall Care Center.
She was born in Anderson County to the late Willard and Maude Sparrow Peach.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and Priscilla Sunday School Class; she was a former employee of the Dollar General Store and worked for several restaurants.
She is survived by: two daughters, Rosetta (Elsby) Robinson, Salvisa and Edna Elliston, Richmond; three stepchildren, Wilma Johnson, Audrey Brown, Frankfort and Bobby Brown, Lexington; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Onita Wise, a grandson, Larry Hardin Robinson, two sisters, Vervie Brown and Mattie Robinson, and three brothers, Ernest, Jesse, and Leslie Peach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12, at the Gash Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Jeff Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
