CLAUDINE LARKINS
Claudine Griffin Larkins, 75, of Eubank, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pulaski County, on Sept. 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bradford and Laura Adams Griffin. She was a former assistant at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home and former employee of Ed Buis Appliance and Furniture. She was a member of Goochtown Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hershell Larkins of Eubank; one son, Jackie Larkins of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Pam Adams of Eubank; two grandchildren, Adam Adams of Eubank and Nichole Turner of Sevierville, TN and one great-grandchild, Nicholas Adams of Sevierville, TN.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Carter officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery
with honorary pallbearers as the past and present employees of the Harrodsburg Herald.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home.
Morris and Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
RUBY MOORE
Ruby R. Moore, 92, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Heritage Hall Care Center.
Born in Washington County on May 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Overton (Son) and Bessie Robinson. She was retired from the Kentucky State Health Department after more than 20 years of service and was a member of the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ.
She is survived by two children, Carroll (Jane) Moore of Brentwood, TN and Dixie (Bradley) Kiser of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters Catherine (Charles) Brown, Inell Craft, and a brother-in-law Graham Hinton , all of Jeffersonville, IN; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13 at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Burt Paden officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephew Michael Brown and Billy Young.
LUCIAN MORRIS
Lucian A. Morris, 86, of Imperial Drive, Danville, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Tuesday, January 29, 1924, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Thomas Albert and Minnie Luallan Morris.
Mr. Morris was a retired upholsterer for Jackson Chair. He then worked for several years until retiring for Clark Security as a security guard at Whirlpool. He was a longtime active member of the Salvation Army, where he taught Sunday School, ran the Canteen, and was a former member of the Men’s Club. Mr. Morris was a former Scout Master for Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching NASCAR. Mr. Morris was a World War II US Army veteran, having received 3 Bronze Stars.
Survivors include: his wife, whom he wed on June 13, 1942, Juanita Jenkins Morris; grandson, Steve (Lori) Morris of Danville; and great-grandsons, Tyler and Cody Morris.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Morris, grandson, Michael W. Morris, brother, Thomas Lee Morris, and sisters, Pauline Burns and Juanita Yeast.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Bellevue Cemetery
with Bro. Gary Story, Lt. Dan Nelson, and Captain Sarah Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery
with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joey Harris, Tyler and Cody Morris, Todd McAnly, James Hubbard, Eric Rogers, and his nephews, Ronnie and Carl Morris.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
PEGGY SEVERANCE
Peggy Jo Severance, 72, of Stanford passed away on Friday, May 7th, 2010 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born on Friday, July 30th, 1937 in the Crab Orchard area of Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence & Ruth Shaw Price.
Peggy worked in retail at Heck’s and then retired from Wal-Mart after 16 years of service. Peggy attended Beech Grove Baptist Church, had a love for animals, Christmas time and children. Peggy Jo wed Bill Severance on January 4th, 1958.
Peggy leaves behind: her husband, Billy Ray Severance of Stanford; one son, Billy Ray (Jane) Severance, Jr. of Lexington; one daughter, Debby Jo Carter of Harrodsburg; and three grandchildren, Logan Price, Morgan & Allison Severance.
A remembrance of Life service was held Tuesday, May 11, at the Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Bro. Johnny Baker officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fox Funeral home.
MARY SIMS
Mary Elizabeth “Beck” Long Sims, 88, of Danville, passed away on May 7, 2010 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born August 3, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Elvin and Zilpha Donovan Long. She was a graduate of Fairview High School, Campbellsville Junior College, and Georgetown College. She was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Danville/Boyle County Retired Teachers, the Senior Citizen Rock Group, and Families of POW’s.
She is survived by Cecilia S. (Richard) Broadwater of Lexington; Becky S. (Ron Sr.) Bibb of Danville; and James E. “Buzz” Sims of Lenoir, NC; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Opal Sims; one sister, Opal L. Demaree; two brothers, Hobart G. Long and James Paul Long, Sr.; her daughter-in-Law, Martha G. Sims, and one niece, Sandra L. Darland.
Funeral service were conducted Tuesday, May 11 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery. The family will also receive friends at the church after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Campbellsville University Scholarship Fund or Heritage Hospice.
WILLIAM STEVENS
William L. “Bill” Stevens, 64, of Parksville, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 19, 1945, in Cumberland County, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Nana Mae Wilson Stevens. He was a 1968 Centre College graduate, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He then went to the University of Kentucky’s Law School, where he was Order of the Coif. While finishing law school at UK, he clerked for former Boyle Circuit Judge Henry Pennington.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Rogers Stevens; son, William Lane Stevens II of Louisville; daughter, Clarissa Loden Stevens and her fiancé, Trent Arkema, of Chicago, IL; and step-son, Brandon Freeman of Lexington.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12 at Centenary United Methodist Church, in Danville with Rev. Quentin Scholtz officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Danville/Boyle County Humane Society, Family Services of Boyle County, or to Heritage Hospice.

IVANA THURMAN
Ivana D. “Tuff” Thurman, 90, of Harrodsburg, widow of Sam J. Thurman Jr., died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Centerin Danville.
Born Feb. 11, 1920 in Bradfordsville, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Bessie (Whitlock) Ewing. She was a retired Cricketeer seamstress and was a member of the Lebanon Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Joe Thurman and John Thurman, both of Harrodsburg and one grandchild, Samuel Wayne Thurman.
Funeral services were heldSaturday, May 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dale Denton officiating. Burial was in the Old Liberty Cemetery
in Bradfordsville.
Pallbearers were: Jack Turner, Dale Turner, Tommy Simpson, Donald Royalty, Don Bugg, and Tom Wayne.

BOBBY TUMEY
Bobby Reid, 73, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his home.
He was born in Mackville, was a baptist by faith, worked as an operation manager for Greyhound Bus Lines for 36 years, attended Eastern Kentucky University and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Sotsky Tumey; daughter, Beth (Jeff) Waldridge of Waddy; sons, Gregory (Sue) Bisig, of Tallahassee, FL and Carl (Julie) Bisig, of St. Louis, MO; sister, Doris (Kelly) Deaton, of Danville; sister-in-law, Betsy Tumey, Danville; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. and Odell Tumey and brother, Dr. Daniel Tumey of Danville.
Funeral service were conducted Saturday, May 8 at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery

ARLIE VOTAW
Arlie Votaw, 88, of Willisburg, died Tuesday, May 11 at the home of his daughter in Frankfort.
Survivors include: two daughters, Glenda Votaw and Brenda Blakeman, both of Frankfort; a sister, Lola Cannon of Harrodsburg and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 15 at the Willisburg Christian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery
in Willisburg.
Visitation from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

ARLIE VOTAW
Mr. Arlie Votaw, age 88, of Polin Road, Willisburg, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the home of his daughter, Glenda in Frankfort.
A native of Washington County, he was born on June 8, 1921 to the late John Thomas and Sarah Ellen Votaw.
He was a member of the Willisburg Christian Church where he formerly served as a deacon. Mr. Votaw was a farmer and a retired employee of General Electric Company.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Suetta Scott Votaw on September 22, 2009; a sister, Margie Semones, and four brothers, Elmer, Hester, Marvin and Lonnie Votaw.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Votaw and Brenda Blakeman and her husband, Lewis, all of Frankfort; two grandchildren, Scott Blakeman of Frankfort and Brad Blakeman and his wife, Julie, of Alexandria, VA and a sister, Lola Cannon of Harrodsburg.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15th at the Willisburg Christian Church with Bro. Greg Bowen, the church minister, officiating. He will be assisted by Bro. Larry Weese, associate minister of Capital City Christian Church in Frankfort.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Blakeman, Brad Blakeman, Phillip Temple, Philip Coulter, Garland Scrogham and Tommy Yaste.
Visitation will be from 1-8 Friday at after 9:00 Saturday all at the church.

ANNA WILCHER
Anna Lou Wilcher, 77, of Danville, widow of William Earl Wilcher, died Saturday, May 8, 2010.
Born December 5, 1932, in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Taylor. She retired after 30 years in quality control at American Greetings and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her children, James “Jimmy” (Martina) Wilcher of Danville, Allen (Ann) Wilcher of Somerfield, Fla., Jo Wilcher of Hustonville and Connie Maxfield of Burgin; grandchildren, Dee Dee Wilcher Dotson, Katrina Hardin, Ryan Wilcher, Kim Wilcher, Cain Frye, Josh Wilcher and Jimmy Claunch; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two children, Linnie Wilcher and Pam Wilcher.
The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at the Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Steve James. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Wilcher, Josh Wilcher, Jimmy Claunch, Ryan Wilcher, George Hillard and Harrison Hardin.
Honorary pallbearers were Jo Wilcher, Connie Maxfield and Cain Frye.
Memorial donations may be made to Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
BIRDEEN WHITE
Birdeen Noel White , 90, of Harrodsburg, widow of Charles F. White , died Sunday, May 9 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Garnett and Elizabeth Gritton Noel. She was an Ombudsman for the Nursing Home Agency Of The Bluegrass and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church where she served on the board. She was a member and past Regent of the Jane McAfee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW, where she had held various offices.
Survivors include: a son, Terry White of Harrodsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday, May 11 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Terry Taylor, Jimmy Owens and Troy Young officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Kent Riley, Ben Price, Norman White , Dakota Rogers, David Taylor, Dr. James Tanner. Honorary bearers were members of the Nursing Home Agency Of The Bluegrass for Mercer Co.
