And that included the children of parents who were cited to court for one reason or another.
"She gave everybody a fair shake, and she reprimanded women who hit their kids," said Mrs. Manning's husband of 41 years, Charles Manning of Ludlow.

Mrs. Manning was a Covington native who met her husband while both worked for a company in Ludlow.
"She swept me right off my feet. She treated me like a king," Mr. Manning said.
Judge Jaeger said many of Mrs. Manning's co-workers donated their sick days to her in the hopes that she would recover.
"She was a wonderful lady, always willing to help other people," Judge Jaeger said.
"She was compassionate and always willing to go the extra mile to help the people we serve. She was a wonderful lady and will be sorely missed."
Judge Schmaedecke agreed.
"We dedicated our court in her memory today. She was the model of goodness in a human being, a pleasure to work with," Judge Schmaedecke said.
