FRIEDA GUILFOIL
Frieda Ballard Guilfoil, 91, passed away Friday March 5, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital after a short illness.
Survivors are a sister, June T. Vise; a niece, Evelyn Taylor, Harrodsburg, KY; a son, William H. (Maxine) Guilfoil; four grandchildren, Pam (Phil) Thompson, Richmond, KY, Tom (Julie), Duane (Connie), Lexington, Brad (Erin) Guilfoil, LaGrange, KY; seven great-grandchildren, Abby Thompson, Lauren, Emma, Tyler, Matthew, Joshua and Taylor Rae Guilfoil. She was a member of Athens Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. T. and Laura Ballard, and her husband, William “Nim” Guilfoil
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 8, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Athens Christian Church Youth Fund or Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
TOMMY RAWLINGS
Alvin Thomas “Tommy” Rawlings, 50, of Lebanon died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born Jan. 17, 1960 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert and Lillian Aileen Spurling Rawlings. He worked construction and was a member of the Manna Harvest Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jessica Rawlings of Ohio; two brothers, Bob Rawlings of Nicholasville and Rodney Rawlings of Harrodsburg; seven sisters, Shirley Preston of Harrodsburg, Linda Rogers of Parksville, Martha Shook of Denver, CO, Marie Mattingly, Edith Huntsberger and Bonnie Rawlings, all of Lebanon and Anita Mattingly-Scaggs of Bradfordsville; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and David Rawlings and one sister, Ruth Williams
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 8 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lanham officiating. Burial was in the Elder Cemetery
in Casey County with Robert Childers, Roger Dale Rawlings, Patrick Gribbins, Daniel Rogers, David Richason, Thomas Goodin and Jason Gribbins serving as pallbearers.
LILLARD ROBINSON
Lillard E. “Fiddler” Robinson, 80, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at his home in Alton surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Oneta Mae Pinkston Robinson and was born September 15, 1929 to the late Roy Estill and Lela Holt Robinson.
He was a lifelong musician who graced hundreds of stages around Kentucky for over 60 years with his old time fiddle playing. He was an accomplished farmer, mechanic, and gunsmith. He served as a special deputy under former Sheriff Harold Cornish, as well as one of the founding members of Civil War Re-enactments in KY, and served as an officer with the 1st KY Orphan Brigade. He was a former employee of Genesco Shoe Company in Frankfort as well as Edwards/Webers Sausage in Lawrenceburg. He loved life, people, and never met a stranger.
He is survived by: two daughters, Peggy Robinson (Charles) Dixon of Lawrenceburg, and Tammy Robinson Land of Richmond; one son, Danny E. (Celeste) Robinson of Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren, David Wayne Johnson, Mandy Rogers, Jessica (Brad) McGuire, all of Lawrenceburg, India and Chase Land of Richmond; four great grandchildren, Blake Rogers, Austin Rogers, Piper and Wyatt McGuire; two sisters, Barbara Stratton of Lawrenceburg and Linda Wright of Salvisa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Zeliff and Helen Robinson.
Funeral service was conducted Monday, March 8, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Noal Cotton, Jr. and Bro. Harry Rose officiating. Burial will followed Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Tracey Sipes, Greg Achison, William Michael Robinson, Scott Ross, Dusty Young, and Jimmy Stratton.
Honorary bearers were Sam Howard, Harold Cornish, Joyce Carlton, Maurice Goodlett, J.C. Goodlett, Blanch Davis, Danny Kays, Coy Sea, Vernon Drury, Gail Clark, Keith Franklin, and Larry Smith.
VIOLA SIMS
Viola B. Sims, 90, widow of Marshall Sims Sr., died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 19, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bonnie Williams Bailey Devine. She was a self employed homemaker/farmer and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, the Constitution Square Dancers, and the Lincoln Homesteaders.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Hope Hayden and a son, Marshall Sims, Jr., both of Harrodsburg; grandchildren H. T. (Kathy) Logue Jr., Brian (Stephanie) Sims and Melissa Sims, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Malcolm Sims.
Funeral services were conducted March 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor, Wayne Spivey and Darrell Agee officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: H. T. Logue Jr., Brian Sims, Melissa Sims, Chase Logue, Johnny Bailey, Tommy Hayden, and Bailee Logue. Honorary bearers were her nieces and nephews.
EMMA SMOCK
Emma Grace Smock, infant daughter of Josh and Amy Dickerson Smock, died March 8, 2010.
Born February 10, 2010, Emma is also survived by a brother, Jayden Tyler Smock of Danville, and her grandparents, Jean Dean and Sandy Smock, both of Danville, and Johnny Dickerson of Harrodsburg.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 12, at 10 a.m. at the Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Dickerson, Krystofer Harris, Daniel Wiechart and Caleb Smith.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at funeral home.
ROBERT STAPLETON
Robert Stapleton, 62, of Harrodsburg, husband of Laura Sturgill Stapleton, died March 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and son of the late Jay and Anna Margaret Music Stapleton.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Summer Stapleton and Shannon (Tommy) Pinkston, grandsons Trevor and Collin Pinkston, a sister, Helen (Gene) Newby, nieces, Nancy Newby and Susan Baker, nephews, Michael D. Sturgill Jr. and Chad (Kristy) Sturgill, aunts, Freda Harding and Eda VanHoose, a brother in law, Michael Dale Sturgill, numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Stapleton.
Services were conducted Friday, March 5, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Due to his love and devotion to his animals his family suggests donations be made to the Harrodsburg Humane Society, P.O. Box 314, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
GLADYS WILSON
Gladys E. Wilson, 85, of Danville, widow of Robert G. Wilson, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born March 1, 1925 in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Wilson) Eicholtz. She was a retired Rexnord Industries customer service representative and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Roberta (Tom) Mulroy of Bellevue, NE; one son, Jeff (Debra) Wilson of Nicholasville and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12 at the Marshall Funeral Home in Ellwood, PA with burial in the Slippery Rock (Presbyterian) Cemetery
in Ellwood City, PA
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
VICTOR ARCURI JR.
Victor B. Arcuri Jr., 62, of Bend, Oregon, husband of 21 years to Sandra Camic Arcuri (formerly of Danville) died Saturday, March 13, 2010 after battling cancer for five years.
Born November 18, 1947 in Raleigh, NC, he was the son of Victor B. Arcuri, Sr., Springfield, OR and the late Ann Todd Arcuri.
He attended schools in Portland and Eugene, OR and also Lane Community College in Eugene, OR and Seattle University; then served his country in the US Army during the Vietname War. His love of numbers and organizational skills were a perfect fit for a long and successful career in the banking business - working at various institutions in Coos Bay, OR, Eugene, OR, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Louisville, KY, Atlanta, GA, and Orlando, FL..
Survivors, other than his wife and father, include: his son Todd (Amber) Bezates, Eugene, OR; a brother, Tim (Jean) Arcuri, Springfield, OR; a sister, Dorian (Bob) Arcuri, Eugene, OR.; a granddaughter Maylee Bezates, Eugene, OR; three nephews, Ryan (Brita) Arcuri, Chris and Nick Polski. Local survivors include: his father-in-law, Roy R. Camic, Danville, brother-in-law, Michael (Leslie) Camic, Danville, and a sister-in-law Bettie (H. K.) Kingkade, Lexington.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi (Historic Church) in downtown Bend, OR on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. The Niswonger & Reynolds Funeral Home in Bend, OR is in charge of area arrangements.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg. Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg is in charge of local arrangements.
BEATRICE ARNOLD
Beatrice “Bea” Arnold, 85, of Harrodsburg, widow of Enis Arnold Jr., died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 25, 1924 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary (Farney) Lawson. She was a retired Mercer Dress Corp. employee and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Connie (Ray Brooks) Arnold of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Frank C. Lawson and Harold Lawson, both of Danville.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 15, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rudy Henderson officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
LAURA BREEDING
Laura Breeding, age 94, of Harrodsburg, widow of Walter Kelly Breeding, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 18, 1916 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Willie Mae Knight Breeding. She was a retired Thrifty Store clerk and was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dianne (Paul) Peters of Lexington; two sons, Kelly (Margaret) Breeding and Tom (Gayle) Breeding, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, J. W. Isham of Bowling Green; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Royalty.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 14, at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church with Ken Klemme officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Sean Featheringill, Walter Breeding, Ron Grote, Drew Horner, Jeff Middaugh, Jay Shewmaker, Lee Horner, and Andy Dienger. Honorary bearers were: Janice Yount, Howard Nichols, Berdine White , Peggy Edgington.

WILLIAM CAMPBELL
William Thomas Campbell, 86, widower of Mary E. Campbell, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
A native of Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Owen T. and Betty Moore Campbell and a US Army veteran.
Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Rebecca M. Williams, Lexington, Carolyn Brummett, Bowling Green, Lonnie Campbell, Jodie Noel and Roy Campbell, all of Harrodsburg and Brian Campbell, Somerset.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace and Leroy Campbell and a sister, Martha McMillan.
A private entombment was held at St. Mary Cemetery
Mausoleum in Cincinnati, Ohio.
