MARGARET SMITH
Margaret Smith, 72, of Salvisa, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Saint Joseph Hospital Hospice Care in Lexington.
Born July 14, 1937 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Verla Mae Roberts Garner.
She was a retired data processer and bookkeeper.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jean Malott of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Ruby Howard of Salvisa; and two brothers, Ray Garner and Fred Garner both of Benson, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1 at the Salvisa Christian Church, with Rev. Vicki Ray officiating.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

PHILLIP STACEY
Phillip James Stacey, Sr., age 66, of Harrodsburg, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday evening, October 25, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Stacey was born February 17, 1943, in Ashland, a son of the late Woodrow and Frances Stacey.
Phillip was a retired truck driver, who enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by: a former wife, Rita Ann Evans Stacey of Georgetown; three sons, Phillip Stacey, Jr. and wife Trina of Grayson, Mike Stacey and Pam, Shawn Stacey and wife Dina, all of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Pam Stacey of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, Josh, Jeremy, Karie, Samantha, Jackie, Michael, Katrina, Jonathan, Josiah and Lydia; three great-grandchildren, Cameran, Cayden and Hannah; one brother, Billy Benson of Grayson. He also leaves many other family members and friends.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Barney-Fultz Cemetery
in Carter County, with Brother Clyde Holbrook.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, was in charge of all the arrangements.
ALBERT WALKER
Albert Ray Walker, 77, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 13, 1932 in Jefferson County, son of the late Leonard Roland Walker and Mary Lee Campbell Walker.
Mr. Walker was a lifetime farmer and co-owner of Walker Farms in Anderson County. He was a member of Farm Bureau and Highland Baptist Church in Shelbyville.
He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Ruby Cox Walker; children, Leonard Keith Walker and Steven W. Walker, both of Lawrenceburg, Jeffrey S. (Tracy) Walker and David A. (Deborah) Walker, both of Salvisa, Russell G. Walker of Harrodsburg, and Alberta Faye (Mike) Carmickle of Lawrenceburg; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Scott of Vinton, KY; three brothers, Eddie (Sue) Walker of Louisville, Callie (Bonnie) Walker of Shelbyville and Danny (Michelle) Walker of Frankfort; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Campbell, and two brothers, John Melton Walker and Roy Clifford Walker.
Funeral service was conducted Wednesday, October 28, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Terry Cooper officiating. Burial followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

FREDDIE WARNER
Freddie Eugene Warner, 57, husband of Teresa Jones Warner died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 10, 1952 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Eugene Holloway Warner and Ella Smith Warner.
He was a retired mechanic and had been a carpenter, employee of IGA and a farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Matt Warner of Harrodsburg and Chris (Becki) Johns of Nicholasville; three daughters, Genia (Tyrone) Dean of Harrodsburg; Tammy West of Frankfort and Sandy (Teddy) Kiser of Lawrenceburg; one stepdaughter, Shana Jones of Olympia, Washington ; one brother, Rick (Carol) Warner of Frankfort; one sister, Maxann (Jim) Bingham of Frankfort, and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Sam Kelly and sister Millie Meadows.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 28 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Jeff Eaton and Bro. Randy Myers officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Byrd, Allen Lewis, Jim Baker, Winfield Williams, Dan Stacy and Cody Meadows.

JOHN WINTER
John Leslie Slayton Winter, 42, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his residence.
He was the son of Susan Peddicord Slayton and step-son of Bernie E. Slayton. He was born June 1, 1967 in Louisville.
He was a 1985 graduate of Anderson County High School, baptized at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, a fan of University of Kentucky athletics, and an avid fan of professional sports.
Including his mother and step-father he is survived by: one daughter, Kimberly Frances Goodlett; two brothers, Shawn (Tammy) Slayton of Salvisa and Michael Slayton of Mt. Eden.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. on Saturday.
NAN WOODS
Nan Elizabeth Woods, 68, Lancaster, widow of Donald Carl Woods, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington.
Born August 31, 1941 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late John Jason and Ruby (Reed) Lane.
Survivors include: two daughters, Terri Weber of Lancaster and Judy (David) Culver of Nicholasville; two sons, Timmy Woods and Donnie (Kathy) Woods; four sisters, Bonnie Woods, Ina Crank, Lyda Maupin, all of Lancaster, and Jo Ann Prewitt of Richmond; two brothers: Dale Lane and Elwood Lane, both of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Vernon and Wilbur Lane.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 26 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Charlie Lawson. Burial was in the Woods Family Cemetery
in Lancaster.

JUDITH YEASTE
Judith (Bodkin) Yeaste, 63, of Versailles, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of Michael Eugene Yeaste, died Monday, October 26.
Born (July 10, 1946) in (Harrodsburg) Mercer County, she was a long-time CVS pharmacy employee, and a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Burge of Versailles; a son, Chris Yeaste of Lexington, (one brother, Eddie Bodkin of New Jersey); and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 30 at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Hinkle officiating. Burial will be at Rose Crest Cemetery
in Versailles.
CATHERINE BRANTLY
Catherine Brantley, 75, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after a long illness.
She was born September 27, 1934 in Smith Mills, KY.
She was a long time Lexingtonian and co-owner of Central Kentucky Garage Builders, Dairy Treat, and Tommy's Restaurant.
Survivors include: two daughters, Audrey Brantley, Knoxville, TN and Linda Babbs, Harrodsburg; two sons, Bill Brantley and Eddie (Patti) Brantley, both of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Abbott, and sister-in-law, Edith Moore, both of Henderson; two nieces and one nephew; her special pets, Shee-Shee and Roxie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Francis Moore and Dealie Catherine Moore; a sister, Mary F. Moore; brothers, Charles "Man" Moore and James H. Moore, all formerly of Henderson; her husband of 28 years, Jim Brantley; and special long time friend Elmer Morgan; both formerly of Lexington.
A graveside service and interment was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens Saturday, October 31.
Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
JUANITA COFFMAN
Juanita Jean Matherly Coffman, 72, of Danville, died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Thursday, December 17, 1936 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mamie Chambers Matherly.
She was a homemaker and attended Salt River Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Darold Lee (Patricia) Coffman of Hustonville; two brothers, Ed Orberson of Danville and Reed (Mildred) Matherly of Perryville; and grandchildren, Michael Scott Coffman of Harrodsburg and Joyce Coffman of Stanford.
Mrs. Coffman was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Matherly.
An Appreciation of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Bro. Jerry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Hustonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul, Mike, and Jeff Orberson, Tom Mills, Bobby Carrico and Lynn Sherwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brian Ellis, Debbie Morgan, Helen Tussey and Bernetta Thurman.
W. GLENN COLLINS
Wilson Glenn Collins, 69, husband of Jane Pyles Collins, owner and director of The Harrodsburg Herald, died Monday, Nov. 2.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife of 42 years. Three sons James Wilson (Lisa), Daniel Glenn (Leslie), John Michael (Elaine) all of Maysville, and one daughter, Elizabeth Jane “Libby” Collins of Lexington.
Mr. Collins was a proud grandfather of four grandchildren, James Brett and Kaitlyn Elizabeth the children of Jamie and Lisa, Jared Matthew and Abby Nicole the children of John and Elaine.
He is also survived by a sister, Betty Collins Hornback, of Lexington.
He was born in Mason County July 9, 1940, son of the late William W. and Nellie Frederick Collins. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James L. Pyles and mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Hutton Pyles.
Mr. Collins was a retired educator. He worked as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Nicholas County High School, and at the University of Kentucky writing Teaching Materials for Agriculture Programs. He worked in the Morehead Vocational Education Regional Office as a Curriculum Coordinator. Guidance Counselor and then as Principal of the Maysville Vocational School when he retired in 1991. He was a cattle and tobacco farmer.
Mr. Collins was the 1958 Valedictorian of Minerva High School where he was twice President of the FFA. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, a Masters of Education and a Masters of Guidance and Counseling. He was a member of Alpha Zeta Agriculture Honorary Fraternity.
Mr. Collins was a member of May’s Lick Christian Church where he served as a Deacon then as an Elder and on various committees and on the Board. He was Treasurer of the Mason County DHIA, and a member of the Mason County Historical Society.
The services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at May’s Lick Christian Church with interment at Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 4-7 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be James, Daniel, John, and Brett Collins, Dr. Raymond R. Hornback and Dr. Phillip H. Yunker. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Elders of the May’s Lick Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the May’s Lick Christian Church Building Fund, c/o Geneva Dodge, 6778 U.S. 68 May‘s Lick, Kentucky 41055.
