JOSEPHINE CASSONE
Josephine G. Cassone, 83, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 27, 1926 in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Josephine Farina Garofalo. She was a retired nursing technician and former model, whose stage name was “Joy Lane.”
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Brian) Teater and one son, John Cassone, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Carmela Figlia of Odenton, MD; three brothers, Charles (Elcera) Garofola of Lake Grove, NY, Thomas (Claudia) Garofola of Gaithersburg, MD and Salvatore (Sheila) Garofola of Port Jefferson, NY; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Garofola.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Chris Clay officiating.
Pallbearers are Matthew Teater, Michael Figlia, Joseph Garafola, Robert Garafola, Brian Teater and Greg Plaeva.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 15 after 12 noon at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

NORMA DEGNEAU
Norma Jean Hungate Degneau, 62, of Harrodsburg, wife of Duane Robert Degneau, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Nov. 10, 1946 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Mary Rose Hendren Greene and the late Eugene Compton. She was a truck driver for Tri-State Motor Transit in Missouri.
In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include a son, Wayne Hungate of Harrodsburg; sister, Sherry (Greg) Butler of Louisville; aunt, Jane (Tom) Compton of Lexington; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Kenneth Whitehouse officiating.
Pallbearers were Ty Hungate, Cody Hungate, William Hungate, Ryan Degneau, Greg Butler and Bob Greene.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
GLENDA GANEM
Glenda J. Ganem, 70, of Junction City, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan. 24, 1939 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Leigh and Mary Elizabeth Williams Gibson. She was a caregiver and a member of the Bethel Cumberland #1 Presbyterian Church. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Tatum (Stephen) Reed of Elizabethtown, Elizabeth Tatum (Kirk) Schamp of Atlanta, GA and D. Dee (Travis) Hill of Louisville; two sons, Christopher (Lynette) Ganem of Harrodsburg and Sean Ganem of Junction City; one sister, Lois McCrystal of Harrodsburg; and seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, William Harold Divine and Donald Gibson; and a sister, Helen Gibson.
Services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Byrd officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were Stephen Reed, Kirk Schamp, Travis Hill, Sidney Hill, Griffin Schamp, Luke Hill, Micah Ganem and John Thomas Ganem.

CARLOS MARKSBURY
Carlos E. Marksbury, 62, of Winchester, formerly of Harrodsburg, husband of Rosemary Price Marksbury, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born April 1, 1947 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Ellen (Vandivier) Marksbury. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietname War and was a retired truck driver.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Sarah Bryant of Owensboro; three sons, Troy Marksbury of Danville, Billy Marksbury of Lexington and Joel Marksbury of Winchester; one sister, Charlotte Arnold of Mackville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were Troy, Billy, and Joel Marksbury, Tommy Bryant, Mark Watts and Clint Hardin.

KIMBERLY MCDANIEL
Kimberly Hume McDaniel, 50, of Salvisa, widow of James McDaniel, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at her home.
Born Dec. 12, 1958 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Harold Hume and Gladys Teater Stewart. She was a pet groomer and a member of the Hedgeville Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Woods (Stephen McCreary) of Harrodsburg; a son, Roger (Sarah) Patton of Frankfort; half-brother, David Hume of Taylorsville; stepsons, James McDaniel Jr. of Versailles and Scott McDaniel of Lexington; stepdaughters, Karen Meekins and Cindy Turner, both of Versailles; and three grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.
Services were Sunday, Oct. 11 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Story officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg.

VENETA MILTON
Veneta Belle Milton, 81, of Harrodsburg died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at her residence.
Born April 12, 1928 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Medford and Laura Graves Milton.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, a 1946 graduate of Mackville High School and a retired employee of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio.
Survivors include a sister, Kathryn Hall of Blanchester, Ohio; and four nieces, Donna Warner and Beverly Davis, both of Harrodsburg, Kathy Walker of Evansville and Ann Riley, formerly of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lucian Milton; and a sister, Opal McLain.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Peter Cemetery
in Mackville, with the Rev. Wayne Spivey, pastor of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, officiating.
Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
JUNE RODGERS
June Rodgers, 60, of Liberty, died Wednesday October 7, 2009 in Harrodsburg.
Born Nov. 2, 1948, she was a former employee of Liberty Sportswear and a member of Cowden Chapel Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Rodgers of Liberty; one daughter, Junetta West of Russell Springs; two sons, Jeremy Rodgers of Winchester and Josh Rodgers of Liberty; four grandchildren; three brothers, Carlos, Kirby and Melvin Wesley; and one sister, Carleen James.
Services were held Saturday, October 10, at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial was in Whited Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Friday.
EDITH STOCKER
Edith DeVary Kanatzar Stocker, 102, widow of Herman Runyon Stocker, passed away October 12, 2009.
She was born in Madison County on February 18, 1907, the daughter of the late William Henry and Anna Katherine DeVary Kanatzar.
Mrs. Stocker was a member of the Bethel Christian Church and the Big Springs D.A.R.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothea Stocker Tingle of Georgetown; two sons, Herman Stocker, Jr. of Harrodsburg and Douglas (Norma) Stocker of Richmond; four grandchildren, Rev. Keith (Theresa) Tingle, Ralph Runyon (Pattie) Stocker, Paul Douglas (Sharron) Stocker and Karen (Kevin) Tingle Sames, three great grandchildren; Marshal Keith Tingle, Alexander Kenneth Tingle, Shannon (Dave) Colllins, one great -great grandson, Tyler Collins; several nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel Moore, Minnie Perkins, Maranda Stocker and Carrie Lee Clem, two brothers, Coleman Cox Kanatzar and William Henry Kanatzar, son-in-law, Marion Keith Tingle and daughter-in-law, Lillian Jean Stocker.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, Richmond, officiated by Rev. Eugene Holmes. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Perkins, Wayne Stocker, Dan Stocker, Shelby Perkins, Riley Ray, Carlton Stocker, Vernon Stocker, Harold Butcher, Daryl Wells and Bobby Kanatzer.
LIDA WARD
Lida Mae Coleman Snow Ward, 79, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2009.
Born March 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Dessie Coleman.
Survivors include five sons, Harold Snow of Brodhead, Paul Snow of Harrodsburg, Danny (Mildred) Snow of Moreland, Jerry (Laura) Snow of Salvisa and David (Lisa) Snow of Harrodsburg; four daughters, Deanna (Alford) Baker of Crab Orchard, Bessie Adams of Harrodsburg, Alice (David) Taylor of London and JoAnn (Billy) McFerron of Harrodsburg; and 26 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Snow.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 10 at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Myers officiating. Burial was in Angel Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Snow and David Snow, Jonathan Snow, Curtis Ingram and Alfie and Buck Baker. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
RUDOLPH BAKER
Rudolph “Jake” Baker, 60, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at his residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1949 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Chester and Elizabeth Odor Baker. He was an industrial chimney worker for High & Low Chimney Company and was a musician.
Survivors include three sons, Ricky (Rhonda) Baker of Burgin, Jeff (Angela) Baker of Harrodsburg and Brad Baker of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Cynthia (Charlie) Lawson of Harrodsburg; four brothers, Bruce (Patty) Baker of Burgin; Connie Baker, Gary Baker and Mike Baker, all of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Marsha Lister Baker and Leshia Lister Baker.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Hilary Claypool and Bro. Edward Turpin officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dustin Griffieth, Jeremy Hicks, Dereck Whitis, Taylor Lunsford, Junior Whitis and Charlie Lawson.
