PAUL JONES
Paul Jones, 75, of Harrodsburg, husband of Ann Woods Jones, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 in Harrodsburg.
Born April 30, 1934 in Harlan, he was the son of the late Herman Thomas and Nola Risden Jones. He was a former Mercer County Dep. Sheriff and a Harrodsburg Police Officer and also operated the Jones Bus Lines for several years. He was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Rick) Blaisdell of Burgin; two sons, Tommy Jones and Richard (Sharon) Jones, both of Burgin; one sister, Bonnie Sine of FL; two stepsons, Gary (Judy) Winchester of Lancaster, and Jerry (Gayle) Winchester of Burgin; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Jack Jones, Mable Jones, Mildred Blakley and Charlotte Hankinson.
Services were conducted Monday, Aug. 17 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ralph Neal officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Blevins, Tomas and Brett Jones, Jerry Lee and Gary Winchester and Trevor Blevins.
DONALD NEAL
Donald Neal Jr., 41, husband of Lisa Michelle Patterson Neal, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009.
Born Sept. 18, 1967 in Mercer County, he was the son of Brenda Phillips Neal of Harrodsburg and the late Donald Neal Sr. He worked with cattle and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Allen (Sylvia) Neal of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Angelia, Ashten and Lea Neal, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Donna Joyce Robinson of Versailles; one halfbrother, Christopher Wayne Neal of Versailles; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Neal of Salvisa; his maternal grandmother, Rhoda Beatrice Hardin of Harrodsburg; three nieces, two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy Price, Allen Neal, John Phillips Jr., Jerry Phillips, Leon Phillips Jr. and Mike Huff.
HANLEY PEAVLER JR.
Hanley Peavler Jr., 62 yrs., of Frankfort, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 following an accident on the Kentucky River.
He was the son of the late Hanley Peavler Sr. and Mary Adeline Yeary Peavler.
A native of Franklin Co., he was born, March 17, 1947 and was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was an employee of Four Roses Distillery. Mr. Peavler was a member of the Hiram Lodge #4 F. & A. M. and was past Commander of the American Legion Post #7.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Marie Sanders Peavler; sons, Jason (Lisa) Peavler, Winston Salem, NC, Sonny (Robin) Hamlin, Salvisa; daughters, Angie (Jeff) Pence, Marsha Maddox and Melissa (Jim) Maddox, all of Harrodsburg; brother, Phillip Peavler, Murfreesboro, NC; sister, Agnes Parman, Frankfort; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services for were conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort, Monday, August 17,. Jim Pence being assisted by Rev. Dr. Ray Holdren officiated.
Honorary bearers were the fellow employees of Four Roses Distillery, members of the American Legion Post #7 and all who aided in the search for Mr. Peavler.

PAUL SETTLES
Paul Keith Settles, 48, of Campbellsville, formerly of Willisburg, husband of Patricia Turner Settles, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2009 at his home.
Born Nov. 13, 1960 in Lebanon, he was the son of Eliza Jane Curtsinger Settles and the late Ben Davis.
He was a member of Willisburg Christian Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include a son, Paul Keith (Kristi) Ritchie of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Misty Dawn (Brian) Day of Harrodsburg and Kelly Lewis (James) Johnson of Campbellsville; his stepfather, J.D. Settles of Willisburg; five brothers, Benjamin (Judy) Settles of Springfield, Carroll (Anita) Settles of Willisburg, Stevie Settles and Donnie (Cheryl) Settles, both of Mackville and Gary (Jessica) Settles of Willisburg; and seven sisters, Eleanor (Allen) Moore of Springfield, Barbara (Alan) Lewis of Bloomfield, Judy (Roger) Payton, Kathy (Ernie) Divine and Gloria (Ronnie) Hamlin, all of Harrodsburg, Connie (Keith) Chesser and Sherry (Roy Jr.) Boblitt, both of Willisburg; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Ronnie Settles.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 8 at Carey and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Chesser, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Anderson County officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg. His brothers and sisters served as pallbearers.
DONALD BAUGH
Donald Carroll Baugh, 64, of Harrodsburg, husband of Karen Sue Finley Baugh, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 4, 1944 in Mitchellsburg, he was the son of the late Harlan and Irene Pike Baugh. He was a retired employee of Precision Blanking LLC and a member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Angeline Josephine Tackett of Dixon, IL; two sons, Donald Lee Baugh of Burlington and Donald Ray Baugh of Danville; one sister, Lena Marie Ernst of Stanford; one brother, Frank Baugh of Jeffersonville, IN; and four grandchildren.
Services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial was in the Holt Cemetery
in Mitchellsburg.

KENNETH BLACK
Kenneth Robards Black, 71, 544 N. College St., Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at his home.
Born April 15, 1938, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Mildred Dean Hayes Black of Harrodsburg and the late Hugh Edward Black. He was an employee of I. H. Services, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and had served as an Army Paratrooper.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two daughters, Tracy Ingold and Lori Barnes, both of Greensboro, NC; three stepsons, Mark Turner of Harrodsburg, Cecil Wright of Richmond and Charles Turner of Lexington; one stepdaughter, Peggy Black of Harrodsburg; one brother, Ricky Wayne Black of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, twelve stepgrandchildren and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Hugh Fredrick Black.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Matthew Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. Friday until the hour of service.
Pallbearers are Gary Tackett, Samuel Sneed, Chris Meredith, Jacob and Sheldon Turner, and Kenny Hicks.
LORAINE BURNS
Loraine Sheperson Burns, 100, of Burgin, widow of James Ira Burns Sr., died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at her home.
Born Feb. 10, 1909 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late J. L. and Addie (Owens) Sheperson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce J. (Bill) Wickersham of New Salisbury, IN, Vanda Barker of Lexington, Glenda (Jerry) Gray of Burgin; one son, Jim (Barbara) Burns of Burgin; two sisters, Mollie Carey of Lexington and Isabelle Cummins of Solina, TN; one brother, Wallace Sheperson of Harrodsburg; several nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Robert Sheperson and one sister, Sada Carey.
Services were conducted Sunday, Aug. 23 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Julius Hovan officiating. Burial was in the Bohon Church of Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gerald Sheperson, Mike Sheperson, David Bruner, Michael Bruner, Bruce Carey and David Wade. Honorary bearers were the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

MARY CLEM
Mary Jane Burgess Clem, 61, of Winchester St., Paris, died at 5:50 p.m. on Friday August 21, 2009 at the Bourbon Community Hospital.
She was born in Huntington, WV, to the late John N. and Margaret Smith Burgess.
She was a retired K-Mart Employee and a employee of the Transfreight Company and a member of the Bluegrass Cowboy Church, Paris.
Survivors include: one brother, Johnnie (Sharon) Burgess of Harrodsburg; one niece Christin Nicole Wood of Harrodsburg; one nephew, Christopher Vincent Burgess of Nicholasville and several cousins.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday August 25, at the Bluegrass Cowboy Church 30 Legion Dr., Paris.

RICKY DEAN
Ricky Joe “Shooty” Dean, 54, of Battle Road, Mackville, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Healthcare Center.
Born May 12, 1955 in Lebanon, he was the son of Lois Jean Votaw Dean and the late Donald Gene Dean.
He was a long time employee of Hallmack, formerly of Harrodsburg, and a self-employed mechanic.
In addition to his mother, survivors include one son, Ryan Lynn Dean of Mackville; two sisters, Vicki Reynolds of Lexington and Theresa Dean of Harrodsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sabe and Bessie Votaw; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Myrtle Dean.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28 at 2794 Battle Road, Mackville, with Bro. Donald Litteral of Cornishville officiating.

ELIJAH FAULCONER
Elijah P. Faulconer III, 83, husband of Linda Battle Faulconer, died Aug. 18, 2009.
Born Nov. 20, 1925, in Danville, he was the son of the late E.P. Faulconer Jr. and Eleanor Johnstone Tevis Faulconer. He was a great-great-great-grandson of Kentucky's first governor, Isaac Shelby. He attended Danville City Schools and Culver military Academy in Indiana, and finished a semester at Centre College, before entering the Army. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1951 with a degree in engineering. He was co-owner of Faulconer-Breeden Builders, an engineer for Kentucky Utilities for 27 years and after retirement, opened Small Engine Service on College Street in Danville.
He was a camper and counselor at Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga in northern Michigan, a Boy Scout and a Cub Scout Leader. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Rotary Club, and was also a Kentucky Colonel and a life-long Episcopalian. He served as a senior warden at Trinity Church and later at St. Philips Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, William Johnstone (Linda L.) Faulconer, Laura Shelby (Robert Helton) Faulconer and Thomas Jordan (Adi) Faulconer; two sisters, Sarah Tevis Wurzburger of Nashville, TN and Shelby Tevis Morrison of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren, two nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 24 at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Harrodsburg with the Rev. Jon Hall officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Barbara and Sid Wold, Frances and Joe Martin, Jerry and Jimmie Sheehan, Bess and Ed Rall, Montie Frazier, Betty and John Baird, Jere Caldwell and Lee and Libby Lambert-Stava.
The family requests memorial donations to St. Philips Episcopal Church, Harrodsburg, or Heritage Hospice. Stith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
ELWOOD KING
Elwood S. “PeeWee” King, 77, of Danville, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 in Lexington.
Born Oct. 15, 1931 in Parksville, he was a son of the late Oscar and Irene Hilliard King. He was the owner/operator of Danville Acoustics. He was a farmer and a raccoon hunter. He was a member of Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church, the American Saddlebred Association and the Dix River Coon Club.
Survivors include his wife, Reatha Sutton King; sons, Kenneth Elwood King of Somerset and Johnny Wayne King of Danville; daughters, Cindy King (Sam) Martin of Danville and Kathy King Wells of Somerset; sister, Dorothy King (Charles) Sutton of Louisville; half-sisters, Kathy King (Charlie) Prince of Draper, VA, Sylvia King (Mel) Long of Timberon, NM and Wanda King Ulmer of Chester, PA; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Lynn King and a daughter-in-law, Betty Segars King.
Services were Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Perkins officiating. Burial followed in King Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Travis and Darryl Bugg, John Thomas King, Jerry Daugherty, Terry Hogue, Jay Johnson, Sam Martin, Bo Grugin and Ron Smith.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Danville/Boyle County Humane Society.
