DONALD PEAVLER
Donald Ray Peavler, 74, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 5, 1935 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Willis Dole and Leona Gritton Peavler. He was a retired employee of B&B Electrical Contractors and Hoosher Engineering Co. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and Mercer Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM, as well as the Olieka Shrine Temple.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Wayne Pealver and Craig Peavler, both of Harrodsburg; four brothers, J. B. Peavler of OH; Marvin Peavler of Danville, Lawrence Peavler of Harrodsburg and Edward “Red” Peavler of Florida; two sisters, Irene Hicks of Harrodsburg and Helen Isham of Springfield and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Gary Peavler; a daughter, Jo Ella Peavler; three sisters, Thelma, Sarah Ella and Jewell; three brothers, Leon, Willis Earl and Condit and two grandchildren.
Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Hillary Claypoole and Harley Humfleet officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Masonic Rites.
Pallbearers were David Peavler, Roger Dale Peavler, Brent Steele, Terry Steele, Jay Peavler, Shari Gash, Wanda Alford and Gene Votaw.
Honorary bearers were David Proctor, Bill Pointer, Gene Lawson, John Hawes and Kenneth Meredith.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Shriner’s Children Hospital or the Ray Peavler Scholarship Fund- C/O Mercer Co. Schools.
CHARLES PUCKETT
Charles Albert Puckett, 62, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born March 21, 1947 in Anderson County to the late Albert Francis and Lula Mae Wells Puckett.
Charles was a 1965 graduate of Western High School, a farmer, a retired line worker for Trane Company in Lexington, a member of Shiloh Christian Church, and served as a Spec 5 in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War.
He is survived by: three sisters, Margaret Ann Overstreet of Lawrenceburg, Marcella (Bruce) Miller of Lexington, Frances Stines of Burgin; two brothers, Lee (Norma) Puckett and Jerry (Linda) Puckett, both of Lawrenceburg; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Puckett and Mary Puckett of Lawrenceburg; an aunt, Ethel Puckett of Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold L., Sidney B., and James D. Puckett.
Funeral service was conducted Monday, July 27, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Dedman officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery
with military honors.

CAMERON RAIKES
Cameron Dillon Raikes, 22, of Perryville died Saturday, July 25, 2009.
He was born Aug. 17, 1986 in Marion County. He attended Boyle County High School before graduating from Fort Logan High School in 2005. He was a member of the Perryville Baptist Church.
He is survived by Duane and Karen Dunagan of Perryville, Tom and Tonya Raikes of Gravel Switch, three sisters, Myia Holderman of Danville, Megan (Ryan) Milburn of Perryville and Alyson (Brian) Randolph of Florence, three brothers, Johnny Wilson of Danville, Jesse Carter of Harrodsburg and Henry Raikes of Gravel Switch; his grandparents, Thelma and Martin Robertson of Hawesville, Everette and Laura Dunagan of Middle Springs, Dorothy and Charles Boyd of Anderson County; two nephews and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sonny and Louise Raikes.
Services were held Wednesday, July 29 at the Perryville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Pratt officiating. Burial was in the Chambers Cemetery
in Boyle County.
Pallbearers were James and Timmy Raikes, Henry Raikes, Jesse Carter, Johnny Wilson, Ryan Milburn, Matt Harmon and Homer Lee Raikes.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Honduras Mission c/o Perryville Baptist Church.
Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville was in charge of arrangements.
DEBOURAH SNOWDEN
Debourah Sue Vanover-Snowden, 54, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at her home in Berea.
She was born February 18, 1955.
She leaves behind her five daughters: Amy Vanover or Richmond, Cassandra Stewart of Berea, Angelia Stewart of South Carolina, Deliliah Thomas of Richmond and Amber Snowden of Berea; her mother: Lucy Day Vanover of Harrodsburg and ten grandchildren, four sisters and five brothers.
She was preceded in death by her father Sollie Vanover.

JEROME BRUNER
Jerome P. "Jerry" Bruner of Denver, PA, husband of Barbara E. Bogner Bruner died Thursday, July 23, 2009.
Born May 29, 1939 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Lucille E. Casey Bruner. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by two brothers, Robert (Nancy) and Larry, both of Louisville and a sister, Nesta (Terry) Abbott of Lebanon, IN.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darnell and Vincent.
NINA COCANOUGHER
Nina Cocanougher. 96, of Burgin, widow of Robert M. Cocanougher, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 in Danville at the home of a daughter.
Born June 30, 1913 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Laura Carpenter Reynolds. She and her husband farmed. Cocanougher was the oldest member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris (Leslie) Brown of Danville and Carol Mae (Thomas) Chatman of Lawrenceburg; four sons, Garnett (Leadine) Cocanougher of Nicholasville, Donald (Pat) Cocanougher, Marvin Leon (Evelyn) Cocanougher and Glenn (Bonnie) Cocanougher, all of Harrodsburg; one daughter-in-law, Carolla Cocanougher of Lexington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Gene Cocanougher; two brothers, Addison and Lee Reynolds and one sister, Vertie White .
Services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 5 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Grandsons served as active and honorary pallbearers with Donnie Webb also serving as a honorary pallbearer. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery
in Perryville.
PENELOPE LAPINSKI
Penny Lapinski, 69, Harrodsburg, widow of William T. Maltby and Robert Lapinski, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 19, 1940 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Alice Hayes Adams of Birmingham, MI, and the late Reginald Pellow. She was retired from the business office of the United Thoroughbred Trainer Association, and had worked for the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association. She was also a former NHRA Drag Racer, did pedigrees on KY sires and mares, and had worked for Long John Silvers.
In addition to her mother, survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Lapinski and Kelly Maltby of Harrodsburg and Andrea (Michael) Roll of Rochester Hills, MI; one sister, Pam Boegler of Howell, MI; one brother-in-law, Keith Hatlett of MI; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date. There are no local services planned at this time. Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
JAMES MCDANIEL
James McDaniel of Salvisa, 72, husband of Kimberly Hume McDaniel, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home.
Born Nov. 26, 1936 in Richmond, he was the son of the late Homer and Alma (Coffee) McDaniel. He served in the Army National Guard for approximately 38 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Karen Meekins and Cindy Turner both of Versailles; two sons, James McDaniel Jr. of Versailles and Scott McDaniel of Lexington; one sister, Marie Kinley of Indianapolis, IN; a stepson, Roger Alan Patton of Versailles and a stepdaughter, Crystal Woods of Harrodsburg; and seven grandchildren.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

ALVIN PEAVLER
Alvin D. Peavler Jr., 73, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 1, 1936 in Monticello, he was the son of the late Alvin D. and Fannie Bell Harlow Peavler. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a retired material handler.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, John C. Watts, Elgin Wayne Watts, Paul Peavler, Margaret Lindsey and Marie Terhune.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John Watts officiating. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery
in Nicholasville.
HAROLD POWELL SR.
Harold Coleman Powell, Sr., 76, husband of Nancy Morguson Powell, of Lexington, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
A self employed painter, he was a native of Clark County , the son of the late George Butler and Stanley Douglas Powell.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, Harold is survived by: two sons, Harold C. (Sherryl) Powell, Jr., Lexington and Phillip (Deborah) Powell, Burgin; three daughters, Carolyn (Tom) York, Debra Powell and Lisa Zoll, all of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A sister, Stanley Elizabeth Brown, preceded him in death.
Funeral service was conducted Monday, August 3, at Milward-Southland, Lexington, with interment in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
JOYCE ROBINSON
Joyce Ann Robinson, 63, Boone St., died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at her home in Harrodsburg.
Born March 20, 1946 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Sarah Stratton Robinson and the late Roy Robinson.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her mother, Sarah (Stratton) Robinson of Stanford; a sister, Judy Hafley of Stanford and a brother, Bobby Robinson and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
ELIZABETH RYAN
Elizabeth Ann Ryan, 68, of Harrodsburg died Thursday, July 30, 2009.
Born June 11, 1941 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Beatrice Bottom Taylor of Harrodsburg and the late William Irvin Taylor. She was a former employee of Corning Glass and Modine Co. and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, survivors include two daughters, Tammy Robins of Harrodsburg and Shanda Ryan of Lexington; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Wayne, Carl Dudley and Jimmy Leon Taylor.
Services were conducted Monday, Aug. 3 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Story officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan Robins, Wesley Simpson, Robert Dean, Rick Hartman, Tim Mink and Billy Joe Crouch.
