BERTHA ALLEN
Bertha Marie Pena Allen, 73, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the James B. Haggin, ECF in Harrodsburg.
She was born March 9, 1936 in Stafford, Texas to the late Joe and Susie Trevino Pena.
She was a former secretary for Countryside Motors and bookkeeper for Kraft Foods in Lawrenceburg, a member of the Lawrenceburg First Christian Church, a member of the Diaconate, and a 1956 graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington.
Bertha is survived by: her husband of 52 years, Nathan R. Allen; a son, Robert Dale (Wanda) Allen of Lawrenceburg; a grandson, Josh (Nikki) Allen of Lawrenceburg; a great grandson Zachary Dale Lee Allen; two sisters Sylvia (Howard) Mountjoy of Lawrenceburg, Eleanor (Bobby) Hatton of Lexington; a brother Rueben Pena of Lexington; several nieces and nephews.
Including her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother Arnold Pena.
Funeral service were conducted Friday, June 12, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

GRANVILLE DEVINE
Granville Curtis Devine, 81, of 339 Dixie Manor, Harrodsburg, husband of Carolyn Smith Devine, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at his residence.
Born January 6, 1928 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sally (Gibson) Devine. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a retired platinum smith for Corning Glass, and a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher. He was a driver for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Vicky (Fred) Noel of Crossville, TN and Nancy (Ed) Schellhaas of Edgewood; one son, David (Vernell) Devine of Georgetown; one sister, Susie Majeske of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Forrest Devine of Harrodsburg and William Devine of Louisville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, C. H. Devine and two sisters, Rosemary Claunch and Vica Devine.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 19 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert Defoor and Wayne Spivey officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Smith, Joe Harlow, David Baker, Bill Cooper, Garnett Fowler, Jim Ashford and Harold Hendren. Honorary bearers are Marshall Freemen and Coleman Durr.
Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice or to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life.
WYATT GORE
Wyatt Everett Gore, infant, died June 10, 2009.
He was the son of William H. and Tammy Conrad Gore.
In addition to his parents he is survived by: brothers, William Harold Todd of Harrodsburg and Andrew Noah Gore of Georgetown; grandparents, Brenda Conrad of Georgetown and Crystal Bradshaw of Lexington; uncle, William T. Gore of Lexington; and aunt, Claudine Conrad of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Claude Conrad and William Harold Gore.
Funeral services were held Sunday June 14, at the Minorsville Cemetery
with Bro. Wade Miller officiating.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home, Georgetown.
ALFRED HACKER
Alfred K. Hacker, age 81, formerly of Louisville, died Saturday June 13, 2009 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Lexington.
He was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, a United States Navy veteran, and a member of the VFW Post 4337 in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Williams Hacker, formerly of Louisville, two daughters, Lisa Hacker Graham of Harrodsburg and Judy Chapman of Crestwood; a sister, Alberta Cates of Louisville, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Hacker.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, June 22 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville. Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Camp Nelson Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Veterans Affairs Hospice Care in Lexington. Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of the arrangements.
FREIDA JOHNSTON
Freida Moore Johnston, 78, of Hopkinsville died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Jenny Stewart Hospital.
Born August 14, 1930 in Muhlenburg County, she was the daugher of the late C. T. and Bertha Moore.
She was a medical secretary for the pathologist at Jenny Stewart Hospital for 26 years. She was a member of Kirkmansville Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jeff (Laura) Johnston and five grandchildren, Justin, Jackson, Johnny, James and Joshua of Harrodsburg.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Johnston, one brother, Jimmie Moore and two sisters, Opal Edwards and Mildred Strader.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m. CT at Kirmansville Methodist Church.

DAVID JONES
David Lee Jones, 58, of Harrodsburg, husband of Brenda Turpin Jones, died Tuesday at his residence.
Born March 7, 1951 in Boyle County, he was a son of Fannie Burchett Jones of Danville and the late Bishop Jones.
Jones worked for Davis H. Elliott Construction as a foreman for a power line crew. He was a member of Perryville Christian Church of God where he was a trustee, a church usher and a member of both the Pastor Council and the building committee.
In addition to his mother, and his wife, he is survived by two children, Ann (Jason) Stevens of Stanford and Darrell Jones of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mildred Sallee of Danville and one brother, Danny Jones of Perryville and two grandchildren.
Services were held 11 a.m. Friday, June 12 at the Parksville Cemetery
with Bros. Buddy Turpin, Joey Turpin and Terry Orcutt officiating.
Pallbearers were Allen Neal, Nathan Bottoms, Daniel Jones, Lee and Paul Stratton and Chris Turpin. Honorary Pallbearers were the men of the Perryville Church of God. Wilder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
JACKIE MCCARTER
Jackie Davis McCarter, 58, of Junction City died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
Born Aug. 28, 1950, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Mary Louise Dean Davis.
She was a graduate of Ansbach High School in Germany, a homemaker and former manager of B&L Florist. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amvets and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was active in the Army Wives Club and volunteered with the American Diabetes. Association. She was a member of Shelby Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan McCarter; two daughters, Lisa McCarter Peyton and Dana McCarter (Troy) Johnson, both of Junction City; two sisters, Dorothy Case and Jeanie (Wendell) Jessee, both of Junction City; three brothers, R. C. Davis of Junction City, John T. (Shirley) Davis of Lexington and Jim (Teresa) Davis of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Rogers and a son, Christopher Daniel McCarter.
The funeral was Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City, with the Rev. Paul McFarland officiating.

BENJAMIN RIDDLE
Benjamin Franklin Riddle, 56, husband of Betty Dick Riddle, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
He was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Woodford County to the late Winford G. and Mary Mason Riddle.
He worked as an auto body repairman.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: six children, Nancy Marie Riddle, of Salvisa, Daphna Riddle, of Versailles, Timothy Matthew Riddle, of Midway, Benny Lee Riddle, Christy Ann Riddle and Daniel R. J. Riddle, all of Georgetown; and a brother, Leonard Riddle, of Stamping Ground.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Winford G. Riddle Jr.
A visitation was Friday, June 12, 2009, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Georgetown Cemetery
with Rev. Wayne Lipscomb officiating.
MARTIN SAUNDERS
Martin D. Saunders, 87, died Sunday, June 14, 2009.
Born in Morehead, he was the son of the late Ed and Belle (Lewis) Saunders. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired loan officer for First Security Bank. He was a member of Tates Creek Christian Church, past president of Bluegrass Christian Men’s Fellowship, Masonic Lodge #160 and the Oleika Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his children, Betty (Bill) Dixon, Ruby (late Joe) Hurst and Norma (Jackie) Hammonds, all of Harrodsburg, Lena (Doyle) Crenshaw of Lebanon, Dorothy Ann (Stephen) Kingsley of San Diego, CA, Stephanie (Edward) Garrett of West Alexandria, OH and Martin Saunders Jr. of Lexington; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Calbert W. Saunders.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington with Dr. Brad Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, June 18. Memorials are suggested to Tates Creek Christian Church, 3150 Tates Creek Rd, Lexington, KY 40502.
DALE SIGMON
Dale Kenneth Sigmon, 74, of Harrodsburg, husband of Kathleen Sue Mahaffey Sigmon, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born February 2, 1935 in Hickory, NC, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Irene (Deal) Sigmon. He worked in industrial sales for Scott Gross Company in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Sue (Mahaffey) Sigmon; three daughters, Melissa Coffey, Melinda (Don) Hayes and Melanie (Jack) Burwinkel; a son, Timothy (Angela) Sigmon, all of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Wayne (Fern) Sigmon of Hickory, NC; six grandchildren.
The funeral was June 13 at 2 p.m. at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Harold Best officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers were Darrell Bottoms, Rick Schroer, Sean Bottoms, Norman Amos, Steve Marquardt, Tim Sigmon, Ken Schoeny and Billy Mahaffey.

MAE TONGE
Mae Antoinette Tonge, 63, of Springfield, a former resident of Harrodsburg, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at University Hospital in Lexington.
Born June 24, 1945 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Mary Katherine Brown Baker.
She was a homemaker and a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin.
Survivors include her sons, James Linton and John Thomas Linton, both of Harrodsburg and Kevin Rudolph Baker and Charles Baker, all of Sandusky, OH, Jack Baker of Toledo, OH and Dillard Baker of Louisville; one sister, Mary Nell Clark of Louisville; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield with the Rev. Phillip A. Yates officiating. Burial was in Cemetery
Hill in Springfield.
Pallbearers were David Yocum, Johnny Kay, Jeff Weaver, David Fogle, Tyronne Young, John T. Mayes, Andrew Yocum, and Jody Linton.
