RUBY MELTON
Ruby Melton, 87, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Professional Care Rehabilitation Center in Dale, IN.
Born December 11, 1921 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late John Lewis and Bessie Beatrice Jenkins Bishop. She was a homemaker, a seamstress and an artist.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Wurst of Louisville; one sister, Shirley Todd of Richmond and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Stevie Melton; two brothers, Lewis Bishop and Willard Bishop; and three sisters, Lola Sellman, Margaret Fiebelkorn and Katherine Corbet.
The funeral was conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial was 1 p.m. Monday, May 18 at the Highlawn Memorial Gardens in Washington Courthouse, OH.
LARRY MYERS
Larry Thomas Myers, 53, died Friday May 22, 2009.
He was a born March 16, 1956 in Harrodsburg, son of the late Russell and Dorothy Myers.
He is survived by: three sisters, JoAnn George, IN, Patsy Collins and Lynda Lucille Myers both of Lexington; and three brothers, Rusty Myers, Lexington, Terry Myers, Harrodsburg and Rev. Wayne Myers, South Africa.
Funeral service was conducted Tuesday May 26, at the Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Road, Nicholasville, officiated by Rev. J. K. Pierce.
JOSEPH PEAVLER
Joseph W. “Billy” Peavler, 69, of Burgin died Wednesday May 20, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born August 25, 1939 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William and Josie Marksbury Peavler. He was a retired Machine Operator at Modine, a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, a graduate of Mercer County High School, an antique dealer and knife trader.
Survivors include his stepmother, Nan Peavler of Greenwood, IN., two daughters, Lawana (Ethan) Wilson of Richmond and Melody (Brent McGaughey) Greenup of Waddy, and three grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Grimes, George Hendrix, Dennis Coslow, Donnie Webb, Billy Minton and Jim Carpenter.
FANNIE REINSMITH
Fannie Mae Reinsmith,68, of 414 Hume Dr., wife of Bernard Reinsmith, passed away Monday May 18, 2009 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
She was born October 25, 1940 in Bourbon County to the late Virgil Estes and Elsie Ruth Hedges Long.
She was a retired employee of Bluegrass Industries and Kentucky Textiles. She attended the Bedford Acres Christian Church and the Shawhan Baptist Church. Fannie had a zest for life with a great love and devotion for her family and friends.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Vickie (Joe) Herrington of Paris and Karen (Charles) Ratliff of Paris; one son, Wayne (Judy) Reinsmith of Salvisa. Fannie also had five grand children, Christina Herrington, Joseph and Katrina Herrington, Jr., Jared Reinsmith, Jessica Ratliff and Ashley Ratliff. She also is survived by two great-grand children, Nathaniel and Elexis Herrington. Fannie was survived by five sisters and Brother-in-laws, Betty and Cecil Reinsmith, Mary and Jimmy Dampier, Sue and Wayne Jones, Phyllis and Roy Courtney and Brenda and Rex Cook. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Long; brother-in-law, Bobby Clem; sister-in-law, Joyce Long and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fannie was also preceded in death by one sister, Connie Clem and one brother, Jerry Long.
Funeral Services were held Thursday May 21, with Pastor Steve Baker and Brother George Combest officiating, followed by burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joseph Herrington, Jr., Jared Reinsmith, Larry Abney, Billy Biddle, Rex Cook, Roy Courtney, Michael Courtney and John Sosby.
Honorary pallbearers were the Centerhill Homemakers Club.
FLOYD RIGGINS
Floyd H. “Buzz” Riggins, 75, husband of Kay Morris Riggins for 39 years, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Danville, KY, he was the son of the late Floyd Humphrey and Elizabeth Proctor Riggins, Sr.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, news director and anchor for Channel 27, director of network operations for Jim Host & Associates, and director of communications for Diamond Shamrock Corporation. Buzz was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and president of the Hallelujah Singers. He was also owner of the Mole Hole and director of development for the Lexington Philharmonic.
Survivors, other than his wife, include: his children Kim (Michael), David (Terri), and Lawson; brother, Proctor (Betty) Riggins; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 27, at the Immanuel Baptist Church by Dr. Craig Loscalzo. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg.

LOUISE SHERROW
Louise Sherrow, 89, of Richmond, IN died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Forest Park Health Campus.
Born February 6, 1920 in Lancaster to James H. and Ida Mae Tracy Clark, she lived in this area most of her life. She was the widow of Raymond Sherrow.
She (was) a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna S. (Tom) McGuire of Richmond, IN; one son, Fred M. (Linda) Sherrow of Richmond, IN; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Carl (Opal) Clark of Harrodsburg, Henry Clark, Lucian (Velma) Clark, (John (Carol) Clark and Gordon (Joyce) Clark, all of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Roberta Doolin and Dora Dean Ballard, half-sisters, Maude Ray and Sally Lou Meadows, and half-brothers, William, Jimmie T. and Ike Clark.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 21, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home in Richmond, IN. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
JOHN SPARROW
John Bruce Sparrow, 89, widower of Helen Louise Baker Sparrow, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Village of Lebanon, Lebanon.
Born December 24, 1919 in Lawrenceburg, he was the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Huffman Sparrow. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was former manager of the E.W. Brown Power Plant and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for several years. Sparrow was also a Mason, member and past president of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club and a volunteer tax advisor for the Mercer Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Berry) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg, Angie (Brian) Shurr of Somerset; two sons, John (Cathy) Sparrow of Lebanon and Rick (Linda) Sparrow of Louisville; one brother, Cecil Thurman; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 27 at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Jimmy Carter officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Sparrow, Todd Shewmaker, Matt Sparrow, Josh Butler, Bruce Sparrow and Bill Barnett.

EMMA TAYLOR
Emma Lois Wilson Taylor, 85, of Danville died Monday in Danville. She was the widow of Clarence Taylor.
Born June 8, 1923, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Elzie and Laura Ellen Wilson. Emma was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Danville.
Survivors include: seven daughters, Jean Taylor Gover, Brenda Taylor (Gene) Young and Dinah Taylor, all of Danville, Marilyn Taylor Tharp and Cynthia Taylor, both of Junction City, Debbie Taylor (Michael) McCowan of Lincoln County and Theresa Taylor (Lee) Lake of Versailles; three sons, Calvin (Carolyn) Taylor of Harrodsburg, Phillip (Lois) Taylor of Danville and Danny Taylor of Lexington; one sister, Jewell Dean Mills of Gravel Switch; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; one daughter, Dorothy Mattingly; one son, Kerby Taylor; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by Rev. Al Gisler, with burial in the Russell Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Derek and Douglas Tharp, Steven and Stuart Taylor, Gene Young, Calvin Taylor Jr., Lee Lake, Chris Floyd and Vaughn Jones.
Sean Jones will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

HELEN WADE
Helen Trayner Wade, 71, wife of Charles Ransom Wade, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Sadie Trayner.
She was a retired administrator of Retina & Vitreous Associates of Ky. and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors, other than her husband, are: two daughters, Shelly Ann Wade and Aimee Ruth Wade, DVM; three grandchildren, Preston, Autumn and Ransom Brown; a sister, Doris Carey; three brothers, Ronald Wayne, Lynn Allen and Robert Morris Trayner; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Austin Trayner, Dennis Lee Trayner, Troy Trayner, Phillip Wade, Michael Carey, Mark Wade, Zack Rankin and Preston Brown.

NANCY WEDDLE
Nancy Helen Weddle, 66, of Beavercreek, OH, formerly of the Cain Store community passed away at her home in Ohio.
She was born on December 26, 1942 at Cain Store, KY, the daughter of the late Elvis Lee and Grace Garner Wilson.
She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Weddle was a member of the Bradley’s Pleasure Baptist Church in Nancy, KY.
Mrs. Weddle is survived by; one daughter, Beverly Jo (Bob) Merritt of Beavercreek, OH; three brothers, Bobby (Barbara) Wilson of Moscow, OH, Carlie (Shirley) Wilson of Harrodsburg, and Dennis (and Halla) Wilson of Nancy; one sister, Elizabeth (Mike) Caudill of Nancy; a granddaughter, Shannon D. (Lynn) Smyles of Beavercreek, OH; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Lynn Smyles of Beavercreek, OH.
Along with her parents, her husband, Alvis Leo Weddle and a sister, Caridene Frances Beal preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Weddle will be Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at Bradley’s Pleasure Baptist Church in Nancy, with her funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. Charles Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in Bradley’s Pleasure Cemetery.

AZILLE BARNETT
Azille Goodlett Barnett, 88, widow of Floyd W. Barnett, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Barnett was the only woman to serve on the Mercer County Fiscal Court. She was appointed by the governor to complete the term of her late husband, Floyd Barnett, who served as magistrate for Mercer County’s second district.
Born February 13, 1921 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late W. J. and Verna Robinson Goodlett. She had served as a bus driver for 13 years. She had driven for Bluegrass Community Action Mercer County Head Start.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she was active in the Mission Ministry, had served as a Sunday School Teacher for 53 years and was also a member of W.M.U. for over 50 years.
Barnett was a 1939 graduate of Fairview High School and a member of Fairview Homemakers Club for more than 50 years.
Survivors include one son, Jerry W. (Jean) Barnett of Salvisa; two daughters, Charlene (Tommy) Pinkston of Harrodsburg and Mitzi (Kelly) Bugg of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Bugg, and two brothers, Kenneth Davis Goodlett and Joseph W. Goodlett.
Services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Brad King, Earl Pinkston, Bro. Lester Tirey and Bro. David Culp officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bobby Christerson, Curtis Sherrow, Garland Hoskins, Fred Herald, Kenny Long and Danny McDonald. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Lady Sunday School Classes.

RAYMOND BROPHY
Raymond Gene Brophy, 82, of Frankfort, husband of the late Joyce Brophy, died Monday June 1, 2009.
He was born March 15, 1927 in Franklin County to the late Jesse and Hallie Barker Brophy.
He is survived by: two daughters, Sheila Dunaway of Burgin and Teresa Keith of Versailles; two sons, Ronnie Brophy and Teddy Brophy, both of Frankfort; one step-son, Timmy Brophy of Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Roberts of Frankfort, and Dorothy Gordon of Colorado; and one brother, Revel Brophy of Lebanon Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Brophy, one sister, Catherine Taylor, and four brothers, Stewart, Henry, Dallas, Edward, and Forest Brophy.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 3, at the Clark Funeral Home-Versailles Road, with Reverend Mike Napier officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers were be Franklin Brophy, Darrell Brophy, David Brophy, Mike Hoppper, Jeffery Elliston and Timmy Manns.
