MARVIN MONTGOMERY
Marvin Montgomery, 86, of Harrodsburg, widower of Beulah Frances Roberts Montgomery, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born March 8, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Thomas Shelton and Eliza Jane (Scott) Montgomery. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna (Donnie) Tatum, Barbara (Joe) Hawkins, Edna (Henry) Gross; two sons, Carroll (Trudy) Montgomery, and Kenton (Jewell) Montgomery; two sisters, Surene Devine of Somerset and Ida Mae Leonard of New Castle; sister-in-law, Christine Montgomery of Harrodsburg; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Scott and Harold Montgomery and a sister, Elizabeth Boswell.
The funeral was Monday, April 27 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Brett Travis and Carl McCray officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Lynn Montgomery, Johnny Lawrence Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, Scott Hawkins, David Hawkins, Dewayne Tatum, Khris Montgomery, Duane Gross, Adam H. Montgomery, Brian Thomas Gross, Denise T. Motley, Rebecca J. Underwood, Vickie C. Lay, Kimberly McCowan and Katie Gross.
Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund or the American Heart Association.
GEORGE MOORE
George Omer Moore, 84, of Salvisa, husband of Lala Jefferies Moore, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 7, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Redmon and Omie (Holman) Moore. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department and was a member of the Salvisa Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Omer Moore of Salvisa; a brother, Eulas Moore of Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one nephew.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 25 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vickie Ray. Burial was in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa.
Pallbearers were Don Moore, Bryn Fallis, Koty Harley, Lynn Carlton, Ronnie Broce and Kenny Qualls. Honorary Bearers were Hugh Otis, Fred Qualls, Curtis Currens, William Otis and the men of Salvisa Christian Church.
MICHAEL MULLIGAN
Michael Earl Mulligan, 53, of 1611 Kennedy Bridge Rd., Harrodsburg, husband of Kimberly Brown Mulligan, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Born September 29, 1955 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Dolly (Gray) Mulligan and Elsber Mulligan of Jessamine Co. He was a retired plumber.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Talena Marie Mulligan of Springfield; two sons, Michael Edward Mulligan of St. Louis, MO, and Jason Michael Mulligan of Frankfort; a sister, Joy Minton of Lexington; two brothers, Johnny Mulligan of Versailles and Woody Mulligan of Lexington; and a half-sister, Misty McMurray of Junction City.
Graveside services were Tuesday, April 28 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Danny Middleton officiating.
EDNA PRICE
Edna R. Price, 85, widow of John Ben Price, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Frances Montgomery Riley. She was a retired employee of American Greetings, Inc. and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, John (Linda) Price Jr., David C. (Julie) Price, Owen Glen (Carol) Price and James Robert (Pat) Price, all of Mercer County, Ronald Wayne (Gracie) Price of Laurel County and Gary Michael (Virginia) Price of Anderson County; one daughter, Donna Jean Price of Mercer County; one sister, Dorothy (Owen) Foster of Nelson County, 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters.
The funeral was conducted Sunday, April 19 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating.
Burial was in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were James R. Price, David Price II, Scott Price, Tony Price, Wayne Price, Justin Schultz and Andrew Grider. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Price, Daniel Ransdell, Daniel Derrringer and Mark Smith.

SAMMIE RUSSELL
Sammie K. Russell, Sr., 74, of Mackville, passed away at 4:55 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, he was born on November 5, 1934 to the late Sam K. and Sarah Carpenter Russell.
He was a Christian and a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir. Mr. Russell was a 50 year member of the Magnolia Lodge #201 F.& A.M. of Mackville and a member of the Kosair Shrine and Scottish Rite in Louisville.
He was a retired sergeant of the Louisville Police Department having retired in 1977. He also was employed by the Springfield Police Department and in 1994 retired from the Lebanon Police Department. While working he served almost 12 with the Kentucky National Guard.
He was also a member of the F.O.P. River City Lodge #614 and a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Imogene Conkel Russell; two sons, William “Bill” Russell of Louisville and Sammie K. Russell, Jr. of Covington, two daughters; Jacqueline Roution of Mackville and Pamela Johansen (Eric) of Louisville; grandchildren; Nathan, Jamie, and Tara Russell, Jennifer Smith (Tony), Stephanie Stratton (Jason), Jeffrey and Lauren Johansen and Kristin Roution; three sisters, Frances Powell of Danville, Gail Blackwell of Louisville and Jane David (Dickie) of Mackville; two special family friends, Phil Spicer of Covington and Mike Barnett of Harrodsburg.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Norma Paige Russell and two brothers, Johnny Royce Russell and Henry Garland Russell.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 25, at the Mackville Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Stuart, a former pastor, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Micah Carter and Rev. Harold Best. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery
in Mackville.
Masonic services were held Friday evening with Billy Riggs delivering the eulogy.
Casket bearers were Eric Johansen, Tony Smith, Roger Roution, Kevin Davis, Lynn Davis, Glenn Best, Jerry Goodlett and Johnny Masterson.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his Sunday School Class, Glenn A. Arnold, Charles Turner, Lynden Turner and Leland Turner.
Carey & Sons Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Mae Record Belew, 91, died Jan. 20, 2009 in Rome, GA. Due to inclement weather Feb. 2, the internment has been rescheduled for a graveside service Sunday, May 10 at 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery

Martin E. “Buddy” Walker III, 72, and his wife, Barbara Hardin Walker, 72, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Mr. Walker was born Feb. 7, 1937 in Mercer County, to the late Martin E. and Hazel (Edwards) Walker II. He was a retired E.W. Brown Power Plant employee.
Mrs. Walker was born March 12, 1937 in Louisville to the late Hezekiah and Pearl (Murphy) Hardin. She was a homemaker. They were members of the Harrodsburg Community Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Walker; two sons, Marty Walker and Ron Walker; five grandchildren, Wesley Brummett, Leigh Ann (Josh) Cromer, Amy Brummett, Jordan Walker and Lakyn Alexandria Walker; and four great-grandchildren.
They were preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Walker. Mr. Walker, a sister, Shirley Walker of Harrodsburg and Mrs. Walker a brother, Ronnie (Linda) Hardin of Louisville.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 29 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arnold Mattingly, Josh Cromer, Wesley Brummett, Josh Monnier, Shawn Monnier, David Monnie, James Reed, David Ransdell, Roger Nooe Jr., Johnnie Hockersmith, Danny Humber, Billy Mac Gritton, Roc Moore, George Smith, Bill Burgin and John Chapa.
Honorary bearers are Harrodsburg Community Church Men’s Fellowship, E. W. Brown Power Plant Co-workers, The Bride Club and The Women's Club.
DAVID BUGG
David Bugg, 43, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Born June 29, 1965 in Warminister, PA, he was the son of Eulah Mae “Lou” (Robinson) Bugg and the late William Charles Bugg.
In addition to his mother, survivors include one son, Matt Bugg; his mother, Linda Bugg of Moreland; a sister, Vicki (Ronnie) Robinson of Salvisa; and three brothers, William “Buddy” (Lisa) Bugg, Steven (Kim) Bugg of Harrodsburg and Daniel Bugg of Versailles.
The funeral was Thursday, April 30 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jerry Perry officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Lopez, Donnie Hampton, Tony Taylor, Ricky Noe, Mark Robinson, “Slim” and Steve Weaver.
Honorary bearers were David Maddox, Johnny Paul Cummins, Austin May, Johnny Johnson, “Woody” and Tony Franklin.

Three killed in two crashes
Three local residents, Barbara and Martin “Buddy” Walker III and David Bugg received fatal injuries in two separate crashes last weekend, and two others were injured in one of the accidents.
The Walkers, both age 72 and of 515 Scenic Drive, were traveling east on U. S. 140 six miles west of Springfield Saturday at 6:30 p.m. when a westbound vehicle driven by Cortney Jones, 19, of Bardstown reportedly veered into their lane, causing their cars to collide.
Barbara Walker, who was driving the Walker car, was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Freddie Carey.
Buddy Walker was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by a Jefferson Count coroner.
Jones was transported to Flaget Hospital in Bardstown for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. A passenger in the her vehicle, Kayla Raley, 14, of Lebanon, was airlifted to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for treatment of injuries.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Brian Coyt is investigating. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper Fred Cornett and Sgt. Mike Rogers. Washington County EMS, fire and rescue officials and Nelson County EMS officials also responded to the scene.
Buddy Walker was a retired employee of the E. W. Brown Power Plant, and his wife was a homemaker. They were members of the Harrodsburg Community Church. They are survived by a daughter, Cindy Brummett; two sons, Marty Walker and Ron Walker, and several grandchildren. Mr. Walker was the brother of Shirley Walker of Harrodsburg and Mrs. Walker was the sister of Ronnie Hardin of Louisville.
Wrecks in Lincoln County
David K. Bugg, 43, of 103 Eminence Drive was allegedly fleeting from a domestic situation in Junction City at 12:24 a.m. Saturday when he wrecked his vehicle in Lincoln County.
According to a report from the Kentucky State Police, Junction City Ptl. David Prather was traveling toward the location of the domestic situation when he observed Bugg’s vehicle on KY 2141 and followed it.
Bugg’s 2002 Jeep Liberty went off the road and through a small creek and came to a stop in a field.
Prather approached the vehicle and found that Bugg had sustained severe head trauma. West Lincoln EMS responded, but found no sign of life.
Lincoln County Deputy Coroner Curt Demrow pronounced Bugg dead at the scene at 1:05 a.m.. An autopsy was to be performed at the central lab in Frankfort .
Bugg was a native of Warminister, PA, was the son of Eulah Mae “Lou” Robinson Bugg and the late William Charles Bugg, and was an avid horseman.
He is survived by a son, Matt Bugg; a sister, Vicki Robinson of Salvisa and three brothers, William “Buddy” Bugg and Steven Bugg, both of Harrodsburg and Daniel Bugg of Versailles.
MARY CARTER
Mary B. Carter, 85, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center of Lexington.
Born in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Bishop and Ruth Langford Davenport Carter. She was a 1942 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a 1945 graduate of Good Samaritan where she continued a 44-year career in nursing. She was a member of the Lafayette Christian Church.
Survivors include her friends, James and Patty Mason and Elizabeth of Lexington, and Wallace and Jane White , also of Lexington.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7 and after 12 noon Friday, May 8 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
WILMA DAVENPORT
Wilma Ann Cahill Davenport, 85, widow of Gilbert G. Davenport, died Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.
She was born in Anderson County to the late William C. and Ruby Young Cahill.
She was a former employee of Williams Lumber Company for 17 years, owned and operated Davenport Supply Center for 11 years; a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church and T.E.L. Sunday School Class; and a 1941 graduate of Kavanaugh High School.
She is survived by several cousins including Betty Catlett Barjuca, Lawrenceburg; adopted family, Fran and Alan Wilkins, Versailles, Donna and Warren McKnight, Lawrenceburg, Alaina and Joseph Graves, Versailles, and Bobbie and David Howard, Frankfort; special friends, Sue Perry, Woody Gash, of Lawrenceburg, and Pocahontus Walker, Harrodsburg.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert S. Case.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 1, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
