BONNIE SMITH
Bonnie Sue Howey Smith, 47, Bardstown, formerly of Radcliff, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at her residence.
She was born May 26, 1961, in Elizabethtown, daughter of the late Dagon M. Howey and Ozella Jane Jones Howey.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: her husband of eight years, Larry Stephen Smith; five brothers, Bruce Howey, Bardstown, Jimmy Howey, Harrodsburg, Norman LaFlamme, Radcliff, Joe Howey, Lebanon, and Dale Howey, Vine Grove; a sister, Robin Howey Mitchell, Harlan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Monday, January 5, in the chapel of William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven. Brother Paul Keaton officiated.
HELEN SPARROW
Helen Louise Sparrow, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at the McDowell Place in Danville.
Born Sept. 27, 1925 in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Arvin Wilmont and Pearl Pilcher Baker and was the wife of John Bruce Sparrow.
She was a former clerk at Sutherland Pharmacy and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than fifty years and had served on the Baptist Foundation Board for several years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Sharon (Berry) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg and Angie (Brian) Shurr of Somerset; two sons, John (Cathy) Sparrow of Lebanon and Rick (Linda) Sparrow of Louisville; two sisters, Dolly Mullins of Danville and Ruth Bullock of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating.
Pallbearers were Chris, Matt, and Bruce Sparrow, Todd Shewmaker, Josh Butler and Robert Golden.

DAVID STINNETT
David Lee Stinnett, 63, died Jan. 1, 2009 in Greenville, OH.
Born June 15, 1945 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James Corbett and Mattie Upton Stinnett and was the husband of Vurna Bryant Stinnett.
He was a former custodian at Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Lawrenceburg.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Dana (Steve) Bowman of Lawrenceburg and Teresa (John) Brandon and Angela (Scottie) Gibson, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Bobby Stinnett of Tennessee and Larry (Donna) Stinnett and James (Nettie) Stinnett, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Frances (Earl) Major of Lancaster and Becky (Andy) Smith of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William T. Stinnett and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Seidenfaden officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stephen Bowman, Danielle Bowman, Bethany Brandon, Richard Stinnett, Timothy Stinnett, Stevie Stinnett, Rusty Stinnett, James Stinnett, Jr., and David Wayne Stinnett.
Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Kiper, Lauren Gibson, Tiffany Brandon, and Nehemiah Brandon.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
WILLIAM TURNER
William F. Turner, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 in Medina, OH.
Born Sept. 14, 1926 in Danville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bertha Carter Turner and was the husband of the late Clara Lucas Turner.
He was a farmer, a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Hensley of Norfolk, VA; three sons, Tony Turner of Brunswick, OH and Ricky Turner and Billy Turner, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Ruth Brown of Burgin, Helen Miller of Richmond and Mary Hanna DiLuzio of Pennsylvania ; two brothers, Robert Turner of Burgin and Marion Turner of Harrodsburg; thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Danny Turner, Chris Turner, Chad Turner, Cody Turner, David Turner, T. J. Turner and Leon Phillips.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday and after 7 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
RUBY YANKEY
Ruby Kathryn Cummins Yankey, 84, of Danville died Saturday January 3, 2009 in Danville.
Born Sept. 15, 1924, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Milton and Rena Serena Anderson Cummins.
She was a retired employee of Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Happy Hearts Club and a member of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary. Ruby had done volunteer work for both nursing homes in Danville.
Survivors include: one son, Pete (Peggy) Yankey of Forkland; one sister, Clara Brown Duncan of Louisville; one brother, Ralph (Jean) Cummins of Danville; three grandchildren, Mike Gorley, Kim Broyles and Greg Yankey; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Gorley, four sisters and a brother.
A Celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Danville, by Rev. Ernest Martin and Rev. Doug Wesley.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ruby's Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the church. A reception will be held following the service to continue in the celebration of Ruby's life.
Wilder Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

LESTER BAIN
Lester Thomas “L. T.” Bain, 97, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Harrodsburg Healthcare Center.
He was born November 15, 1911 in Anderson County and was the son of the late Minnie Way and John Willis Bain and husband of the late Beulah Wooldridge Bain.
Mr. Bain was a member of the Presbyterian Faith and a retired farmer.
He is survived by: one daughter, Patsy Bain of Lawrenceburg; one son, John William Bain of Mt. Eden; three grandchildren, Deborah Reinscheld, John Mark Bain, and Melissa Eichhorn, and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Reinscheld, Kyle Reinscheld, Coty Bain, Mason Eichhorn, and Claire Eichhorn; one sister Jennie Thurman of Frankfort.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Wallace Parido, Louise Nicholson, Birdie Beck, Betty Sauer, and a brother, Gus Bain.
Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, January 13, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Burt Paden officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casket bearers were John Mark Bain, Coty Bain, and Dale Reinscheld, Tyler Reinscheld, Kyle Reinscheld and Gregg Eichhorn.
Honorary Casket bearers were John Allen, Viron Stratton, Harold Cornish, Bill Spencer, Timmy Thurman and James Shryock.

MILDRED DICKERSON
Mildred Alice Gortney Dickerson, 88, died on January 8, 2009.
Born on Sept. 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Evans and Bessie Marshall Gortney and was the wife of Z. S. “Dick” Dickerson.
She was educated in the Harrodsburg Public Schools. She earned a BA degree from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College (now Eastern Kentucky University) and the MS Degree from the University of Kentucky.
She taught in the high schools of Shelby, OH and Bardstown. She was a faculty member at Florence State Teachers College (now the University of North Alabama) and at the University of Kentucky.
She was promoted to full professor at James Madison University, the first time the rank had been awarded.
She had a number of professional publications for the Southern Association for the Education of Young Children.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Richard E. (Nancy) Dickerson of Staunton; one daughter, Margaret (Raymond) Dickerson Foster of Greensboro, NC; one brother, William Marshall Gortney of Orange Park, FL; three sisters, Martha Jane Robinson of Centerville, OH, Margaret Tapp of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Monnie Talley of Frankfort.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Raymond J. Foster, IV.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Thompson and Rev. Bret Gresham officiating.
A second memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Strite Auditorium at VMRC with Rev. Ben Burkes officiating.

JAMES DUGAN
James C. Dugan, 74, of Livonia, MI died, Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia, MI.
Born Jan. 25, 1934 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Lovelace “L. C.” and Venus Voorheis Dugan and was the husband of Margie Logan Dugan of Livonia, MI.
He was a member of the Mayo Christian Church and was a 1952 graduate of Harrodsburg High School. He moved to Michigan in 1953 to attend Radio Electronics & Television School from which he graduated in 1954. In 1995 he retired from the logistics department of automotive supplier BASF after 42 years of service.
Survivors include: two daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Young of White Lake, MI and Beverly (Mitchell) Fowler of Dolphin, VA; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Ann Turner and a cousin, Vivian Litteral.
The funeral was held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at the Neely-Turowski Funeral Home in Livonia, MI with Rev. Mark Raitz officiating. Interment was at Parkview Memorial Cemetery
in Livonia, MI.
TERRI HART
Terri Lee Hart, died January 11, 2006 in W. Palm Beach, FL.
She was born November 29, 1953, the daughter of Camillus L. Hart and Hazel M. Hart.
Terri graduated from UK at 19, Magna Cum Laude - Masters in Art. She was a gifted artist, enjoyed tennis, horseback riding, books and she "Loved Lucy." She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral.
Survivors include: an aunt, Gertrude Hart; first cousins, Cecelia and Michael Hart; uncle and aunt, Elsworth and Clarinda Smoot of Harrodsburg.
Cremation was chosen and remains will be at Keeneland and Hillcrest with family members.
MARGUERITE MCBRIDE
Marguerite Freeman McBride, 84, of Randolph, NJ, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.
Born Oct. 10, 1924 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Van Buren and Fay B. Freeman and was the widow of John James McBride.
Survivors include: one daughter, Erin Gusler of Dover, NJ; one sister, Eugenia F. Phillips of Lexington; two granddaughters and three nieces.
The funeral was held Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at the Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph Township, NJ. Interment was at Millbrook Cemetery
in Randolph, NJ.
