DEVAN HICKS
Devan James Hicks, 7, of Battlefield Road, Harrodsburg, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Devan was born March 9, 2001 in Danville, son of Anthony and Alice Nelson Hicks.
He was schooled through the Mercer County Elementary School homebound program.
He is also survived by a sister, Brittaney Hicks and two brothers, Derrick and Nathan Hicks. His grandparents are Lisa Nelson, Jack Nelson and Rose Hicks.
A graveside service will be held. Friday, December 12, in Chestnut Grove Cemetery
with Louis Himes officiating.
ROBERT HENRY
Robert Thomas Henry, 73, of Ridgefield Drive, Lancaster, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his home.
Born February 23, 1935 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Bell Yocum Henry.
He was a truck driver and a member of the McKinney Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Etta Henry; three sons, Robert Nelson (Tammy) Henry, McKinney, David (Barbara) Thacker, Lancaster and Joseph Thacker, Richmond; three daughters, Rhonda Gayle (Terry) Huffman, Lancaster, Regina Adams, Stanford and Vivian Pierontoni, North Carolina; three brothers, Michael Henry Jr. and Floyd Henry, both of Mercer County and Joe Carson Henry, Garrard County; two sisters, Judy Ballard, McKinney and Louise Hayes, Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hadgie Lewis, and a brother Orville Henry.
Funeral services were held at Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Spurlin Funeral Home, Lancaster, officiated by Rev. Daryl Hodge. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Poirier, Tony Thacker, Randy Henry, Kevin Smith, Justin Baker and Ricky Hale.
Honorary pallbearers were Gilbert Tuggle, Delbert Eason, Tommy Gill, Bill Stafford, Samuel Yocum, Margaret Scott, Amanda Burnside, Terry Huffman and Stacy Thacker.
JAMES MOTLEY
James Joseph Motley, 76, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Aug. 26, 1932 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Tevis and Marie Bradburn Motley and was the husband of Cora Sue Kurtz Motley.
He was a member of Shakertown Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and was a retired Kentucky Utilities employee and farmer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, James Alan (Denise) Motley of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Amy (Kevin) Preston of Garrard County; one brother, Gene (Betty) Motley of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Doris (Ed) Harris and Phyllis (Billy) Kidd, both of Bardstown, Shirley (Jess) Cosby of Georgetown and Judy (Fred) Hawkins of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Motley and a step-great-grandchild, Christopher Lewis.
Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 – 10 a.m. on Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Friday at the Shakertown Baptist Church.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at the Shakertown Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Smith and Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clay Cocanougher, Evan Cocanougher, Donnie Cocanougher, Monte Kelly, Jackie Hammons, Kenny Carey, Colton Motley and James Faircloth.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Stinnett, Jim Stinnett, Tim Stinnett, Donnie Webb, Scotty Anderson, Tom Sellers, Donald Cocanougher, Thomas Reed, Tony Church, Roy Beasley, Billy Kidd, Jess Cosby, Ed Harris, Fred Hawkins, Dud Yocum and Ryan Preston.

LILLIE ROBINSON
Lillie Mae Robinson, 88, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born March 15, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Willia Woods Royalty and was the widow of Allen Clinton Robinson.
She was a bookkeeper for Model Laundry and a member of the Kirkwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Freida (Richard) Smith and Charlotte (Donnie) Jackson, both of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Crowe officiating. Burial is in the Kirkwood Cemetery
in Salvisa.
Pallbearers were Austin Jackson, Clay Peavler, James Lyons, Gerhardt Roos, Clyne Wayne Lanham and Gary Yeager.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Royalty, Terry Royalty, Jim Sexton, Carl Hazelwood and Dale Darland,
KIMBERLY SIMS
Kimberly Ann Sims, 43, of Hamilton, OH died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at the Fort Hamilton Hospital.
Born Oct. 28, 1965 in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of Norma Louise Prewitt Sims and the late Clarence William Sims.
She was a 1984 graduate of Fairfield High School, employed in the Actuarial Department at Ohio Casualty/Liberty Mutual Insurance and was a member of Stahlheber Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, survivors include: two sisters, Wanda Louise (Glen) Peavler of Harrodsburg and Debra Jean Sims of Hamilton, OH; one niece, Tammy (Mike) White of Harrodsburg; one nephew, Darryl (Sherry) Peavler II of Burgin and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at the Stahlheber Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Thompson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Burial Park.

BURKIE SPEARS
Adelbert Burton “Burkie” Spears, 61, of Danville, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008.
Born Dec. 27, 1946 in Danville, he was the son of John Y. Spears and Evelyn Hall Hays and was the widower of Judy Elaine Sherer Spears.
He was a former employee at the Kentucky State Hospital and a member of the First Baptist Church in Danville.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: two daughters, Sarah S. Mattingly of Raywick and Rebekah Lynn Spears of Danville; two sisters, Eileen Sheperson of Gravel Switch and Cathy Jones of Harrodsburg; one brother, John W. Spears of Danville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 17 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Kenneth Whitehouse and Doug Wesley officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Spears, Jack Sheperson, David Sheperson, William Ellis, Steve Ingram and Tyler Isaacs.
Honorary pallbearers were Omie Gibson, Mike Sargent, Chris Spears, David Gee and Ivan Isaacs.
PAULINE SULLIVAN
Pauline "Polly" Buck Sullivan, 78, of South Charleston, OH died on December 7, 2008 in the presence of her family.
Polly was born in Harrodsburg, on July 18, 1930 to Hester Carr and Tim Buck.
Polly attended schools in Dayton, graduating from Fairview High School and the Dayton Art Institute. She was employed at Beermans Department Stores in Dayton and later in Chicago at the renowned Heineman Advertising Agency as a fashion illustrator while her husband attended medical school there. Her artistic skills were further honed at The Springfield Museum of Art, and she was particularly skilled in portraitures.
Survivors include: her husband, Jack Sullivan; two sons, Jon (Debra) Sullivan, MD, of Bidwell, OH, and Timothy (DeAnna) Sullivan, of South Charleston, OH; three daughters, Lori Sullivan, MD, of Plain City, OH, Nancy (James) Armstrong, of Canal Winchester, OH, Sandra (Charles) Minner of London, OH; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Willis and Tim Buck of Dayton, OH and Ronnie Buck of NC; three sisters, Rosie McKnight of VA, Patsy Fry of Dayton, and Linda Gates of IN; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Buck.
A memorial service to honor Polly's life was held December 13, in the First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston with the Rev. Dr. William Reisenweaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to the Gideons International

PHYLLIS WILLIAMS
Phyllis Carr Williams, 73, of Fort Myers, FL, died Dec. 4, 2008 after a brief illness at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers.
She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Martha Carr and was the wife of Robert J. Williams Sr.
She attended school in Mercer County, was retired from Bank of America, an auctioneer and appraiser, a Circulation Librarian with the Fort Myers Beach Library and was a member of Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church, The Cape Coral Stamp Club, The Pilots Club, Friends of the Library, Past President of the Lions Club, ABWA and other civic organizations.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Robin Moulton of Stockton, CA; one son, Robert J. Williams II of Fort Myers, FL; one aunt, Louise Dean of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren and five great–grandchildren.
A private service was held.
Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity or to Hope Hospice.
JERRY BERNARD
Jerry Doyle Bernard of Lewis Avenue, Liberty, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at his home. He was 51.
Born on June 9, 1957 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Chester and Oma Luttrell Bernard.
He worked for Southerland Masonary Company and attended Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Audrey Wethington Bernard of Liberty; two sons, Greg Reed of Burgin and Michael Bernard of Danville; one daughter, Callie Bernard of Liberty; two brothers, J. C. and Caleb Bernard, both of Liberty; four sisters, Judy Pendleton, Patty Sanders, Vicki Shoopman and Misty Bernard, all of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack and Wayne Bernard; and two sisters, Betty Bernard and Juanita DeFFee.
Funeral services were held Sunday Dec. 14 at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Bro. Edward Parton. Burial was in Combest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Shoopman, John Bernard, Steve Bernard, Ricky Bryant, Lewis Cain and Jacob Bernard.
MARY BELL
Mary Evelyn Bell, 87, of Manchester, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at the United Regional Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Margaret Nave Parsons and was the widow of Howard Johnson and Horace Bell.
She was retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky where she worked as an accountant and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa Johnson of Manchester; one son, Timmy Johnson of Lexington and one niece, Marcella Allen of Murfreesboro.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jack Lambert officiating.
Manchester Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
BEULAH BRIM
Beulah Fay Strunk Brim, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Aug. 18, 1943 in McCreary County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Lora Bryant Strunk and was the widow of Ernest Delbert Brim.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Johnny Brim of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Brenda (Ernie) Brim of Stanford; one sister, Evelyn (Elmer) Troxell; one brother, George (Elurlie) Strunk; three grandchildren, and one great–grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Brim, two sisters, Flora Lawson and Paullie Roysdan and one brother, Paul Strunk.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, with Bro. Ralph Neal officiating. Burial was in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Perry, Allen Troxell, Ernie Hale, Jason Watts, William Lee (Shorty) Darland, Elmer Troxell, James Lindsey and Ben Lindsey.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
