MABEL TAYLOR
Mabel Taylor, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Nov. 4, 1919 in Liberty, she was the daughter of the late Beatty and Flossie Grant Phillips and was the widow of Elmer Derringer and Sam Taylor.
She was a retired cook from Burgin School and a member of the Burgin Methodist Church
Survivors include: one son, Donald Derringer of Danville; four daughters, Betty (Charles) Gregory of Harrodsburg, Maxine (Edward) Rigney of Memphis, TN, Darlene (Ernie) Carmichael of Beattyville, and Imozene (Tom) Major of Maysville; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dean Derringer, five brothers Ruby, Carl, Cecil, Mervin, and Calvin Phillips and four sisters, Ruth Rutherford, Sylvia Caudill, Lena Phillips and Lucille Wethington.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Cold Spring Cemetery
in Casey County.
Pallbearers were Dustin Derringer, Mike Gregory, Daniel Derringer, Mark Major, Jerry Peel, Eric Derringer and James Merriott.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
DANIEL TUMEY
Daniel Lewis Tumey, 71, of Maple Avenue, Danville, died Friday, December 5, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born October 25, 1937, in Mackville, he was a son of the late Odell Salmon and William Reid Tumey.
He was a 1959 graduate of Centre College where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta social fraternity. He was president and a graduate of the first dental school class at the University of Kentucky Dental School. Dr. Tumey earned his Master of Orthodontics from Ohio State University and served in the United States Army. For 35 years, Dr. Tumey practiced orthodontics in Danville, Lexington, Lebanon and Harrodsburg, prior to orthodontics he was a general dentist in Jackson County.
Survivors include: his wife, Betsy Fishback Tumey of Danville; two daughters, Sarah (Marc) Shaffer of Austin, Texas and Mary (Brian) Rose of Louisville; a son, John (Jenny) Tumey of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Doris (Kelley) Deaton of Danville; and a brother, Bobby R. (Rosemary) Tumey of LaGrange, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Dylan Shaffer, Brooke Shaffer, Olivia Rose, Savannah Rose, Davis Rose, Isabella Tumey and Eden Tumey.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Tommy Valentine officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Tumey, Marc Shaffer, Brian Rose, Jeff Waldridge, Corky Deaton, Dan Deaton, Nathaniel Deaton and Tyler Deaton.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Tumey, Kelley Deaton, Jim Sullivan, Dr. John Horn, Richard Clay, Jim Clay Jr., Bill Caudill, Rollie Vonlinger, John Polk, Thad Overmeyer, Lemar Keiser and Herb Donaldson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stith Funeral Home, Danville, and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.

ROBERT WISE
Robert Wise, 88, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at the Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan. 5, 1920 in Owenton, he was the son of the late Oscar Lee and Ella D. Hiles Wise and was the husband of Margaret Quire Wise.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Rita (Ronnie) Clark of Frankfort and Carolyn (Larry) Reed of Lawrenceburg; one son, Duard Wise of Covington; one sister, Alma W. Dean of Frankfort; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Campbell and one grandson.
The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mike Estes officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky and Todd Clark, Bobby Cotton, Jackie Freeman, Gary Dean and Bruce Parrott.

WILLIAM ADAMS
William Elihu "Steve" Adams, husband of Phyllis H. Adams passed away Thursday December 11, 2008, at the Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL.
Born February 8, 1939, in Lexington, he was a son of the late William W. "Steve" Adams and Ina E. Adams.
He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1957 and attended the University of Kentucky. He received a Master's degree in Business Project Management and retired from American Telephone and Telegraph after 34 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Naples, FL, Pioneers Club of American Telephone and Telegraph and the Hiram A. M. Lodge #4 of Frankfort.
Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis H. Adams of Bonita Springs, FL; two sons, William Keith (Lisa) Adams of Paducah, and Steven Nicholas (Janell) Adams of Brooksville, FL; six grandsons, Andrew Adams of Avon Park, FL, Nicholas, Jarred and Patrick Adams of Brooksville, FL, Joshua and Jacob Adams of Paducah; one brother, Floyd Alan (Susan) Adams of Salvisa; two nieces, Bethany Adams of Jacksonville, FL and Jennifer Adams of Rockville, MD.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street, Lexington. Internment followed in Lexington Cemetery.
MINNIE ALESHIRE
Minnie Frances Martin Aleshire, 74, of Danville died Sunday December 14, 2008 in Harrodsburg.
Born March 17, 1934, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Thurman and Mattie Browning Martin. She was the widow of Ben Aleshire.
She was retired from the restaurant business, having worked for the former Foster's Restaurant in Perryville and Bottom's family restaurant in Danville. She had attended the Perryville Church of God and visited the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Frances loved working with crafts, making many of the gifts she shared with her family and friends. Cooking was a major part of Frances's life, she was especially known for her delicious desserts.
Survivors include: two daughters, Bonnie (Raymond) Lowry of Danville and Sandi Skinger of New York; seven grandchildren, Robbie Lowry, Debbie (Scott) Boyd and Brandi, Amanda, Laura, Samantha and Austin Skinger; three great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Cloe Lowry and Nicole Boyd; and her best friend, Bea Bottoms.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 17, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by the Rev. Robert Shokley, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.
ELLA BUNCH
Ella Mae Bunch, 87, of 204 High Street, Columbia, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at her home.
Born August 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Woodie Alva and Mattie Lee Morrison Cape of Adair County.
Mrs. Bunch was a member of the former Rose Chapel Church at Cundiff. She was a retired sewing machine operator at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She is survived by: four nephews, Wayne Bunch of Chicago, IL, Steve Watson and Stanley Watson, both of Columbia, Michael C. Watson of Harrodsburg, several great-nieces and great-nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bunch on September 23,1973, one brother, Allen Cape, three sisters, Lillie Cape, Gladys Bunch, and Ruby Watson
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 17, at 11 a.m. at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia officiated by Bro. Clifton Bennett. Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery
IRENE SUTTON-BURTON
Irene Sutton-Burton, 78, of Chesapeake, VA died Dec. 5, 2008 at her home.
Born June 25, 1930 in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Maurice Honerkamp and was the wife of James Burton.
She was retired from C&P/Bell-Atlantic Telephone Company, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, co-founder of the Dancing Angels Square Dance Club, member of the Wrecktangles Square Dance Club, the Virginia Rounders Club, founding member of Great Neck Baptist Church and was a member of the Brook Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, Kevin Sutton of Chesapeake, VA and Keith (Deborah) Sutton of Sand Diego, CA; one daughter, Denise (Lee) Barnes of Virginia Beach, VA; two step daughters, Phyllis Mote and Joyce Corneil, both of Charleston, SC; one brother, William Honerkamp of Lexington; one sister, Naomi Pittman of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel with Pastor Todd Holt officiating. Burial was in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
EARL CHILTON
Earl McCoy Chilton, 89, of Salvisa, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at his home after an illness.
Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John Myers McCoy and Ruby Alice Houchin Chilton and was the husband of Lena Katherine Short Chilton.
He was a farmer, a member of the Claylick United Methodist Church, St. John’s Lodge #125 in Salvisa, a member of the Salvisa Ruritan Club and was a WWII Navy Veteran.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: five daughters, Alice Faye McGaughey, and Carolyn Catlett, both of Lawrenceburg, Clara Reese Bleir of Perryville, Marie (David) Combs of Harrodsburg and Christine (Eddie) Nichols of Salvisa; four sons, J.D. (Janet) Chilton of Lawrenceburg and Earl Lee (Ann) Chilton, B.R. (Kathy) Chilton and Lois Von Chilton, all of Salvisa; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great, great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma J. Chapman, Nellie Stratton and Frances Robinson and two brothers, Huntley Chilton and John H. Chilton.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Gash Memorial Chapel.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Joe White and Rev. Carol Whiting officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery
in Anderson County. Visitation from 4-8 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Jennifer Newby, Bridgett Wells, Tammy Gill, Craig McGaughey, Jerry Catlett, Scott Bleir, John Chilton, and Nathan Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be all other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
WILLIAM ELLIOTT
William Chester Elliott, 70, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at his home.
Born June 15, 1938 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late William Morris and Ovie Ester Pankey Elliott and was the husband of Mary Lee Woods Elliott.
He was actively involved in Mercer County Little League baseball and basketball for many years, was a member of the Mercer Church of Christ and was a retired IBM employee.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Elliott Owens of Harrodsburg; two sons, Bill Elliott Jr. and Stephen "Pete" (Debbie) Elliott, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Wilma Joyce Turner of Mackville and Glenda Terhune of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jason Pierce officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery
in Salvisa.
Pallbearers were Lelland Turner, Lynden Turner, Stevie Elliott, Hunter Elliott, Michael Preston, Marty Abrams and Mike Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Warren, Leonard Chumbley, Carl Morphew, Toby Chumbley, Eldoris Currens, Kyle Pankey, Carroll Gritton, Bill Cox, Albert Elliott and Mason Cocanougher.

BOBBIE FOSTER
Bobbie Daulton Foster, 71, died Saturday, December 13, 2008.
Born in Faubush, on February 28, 1937 he was the son of the late Buckner and Anna Daulton Foster.
Bobbie was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his special friend Carolyn Watson and family he loved as his own; Logan (his little buddy) and Kalissa Watson both of Somerset, Ky.; Max (Christy) Watson of Somerset,; June Suel of Harrodsburg; Denton (Carol) Randall of Scottsburg, IN; Scott (Sandra) Randall of Scottsburg, In.; Timothy Randall of Scottsburg, IN; and two brothers; Jay and Gary Foster of Faubush.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Gilbert Robinson officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery
in Nancy, KY. military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38 Honor Guard.
Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
MARY FOSTER
Mary Evelyn Foster, 90, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at her home.
Born Oct. 13, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Grayson Bottom and Jennie Mae Dean Foster.
She was retired from Modine Manufacturing, and was a member of the Berea Christian Church.
She is survived by a niece and several Cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace B. and Clinton D. Foster.
The funeral was held Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Roc Moore. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Burns, Robert Warner, Ronnie McGinnis, Arthur Lee Foster, Claude Russell and Bill Lester.
