MILDRED WOODWARD
Mildred Woodward, 92, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 21, 1916 in Winchester, TN, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Minnie Lee Laws Hawkersmith and was the widow of Sewell Woodward.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Baptist Church and the WMU.
Survivors include: three sons, David Woodward of Harrodsburg, Lowell Propes of Knoxville, TN and Charles Woodward of Hustonville; two step-sons, Dr. Sewell Woodward of Wilmore and Ray Woodward of Florida; one-step daughter, Gracie Smart of Lexington; one brother, Charles Henry Hawkersmith, Jr. of Rutledge, TN; twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Clifford Woodward.
The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Burgin Baptist Church with Rev. Carl McCray and Rev. Ray Woodward officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Douglas Woodward, Timothy Paul Woodward, Matthew Woodward, Bradley Woodward, Timothy David Woodward, Mark Woodward, Danny Woodward and Patrick Branam.

JEANETTE BRYANT
Alma Jeanette Preston Bryant, 67, of Aspen Drive in Danville died Friday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born Nov. 30, 1941, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Eva Kathleen Boring Preston and Thomas F. Preston Jr.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, Monty Bryant; a son, Monty Bryant Jr. of Danville; three daughters, Alicia Anderson of Harrodsburg, Dedra Johnson of Stanford and Sue (Robin) Brown of Stanford; a sister, Jean (Bob) Constable of Junction City; six grandchildren, Jackie Bradley, Louis Wheeler Jr., Joshua Anderson, Lee Anderson, Danielle Anderson and Monty Bryant III; and four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Bradley, Eric Bradley, Alexis Wheeler and Dean Wheeler.
Services were held Tuesday, December 9, at the Stith Funeral Home with Bro. Steven W. James. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joshua Anderson, Monty Bryant III, Louis Wheeler Jr., Paul R. Eversole, Robin Brown, Lee Anderson and Jeff Hatfield.
CONNIE CHUMLEY
Connie Chumley, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at his residence.
Born Oct. 9, 1926 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Roy and Artie Catlett Chumley and was the husband of Ann Chumley.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired Signet and Clark Security employee and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Cornishville Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Church Clerk, Training Union Director and Sunday School Superintendent.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, David (Carol) Chumley of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mary Cornish (Albert) Elliott of Harrodsburg; three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King and Bro. Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial with military Rites was in Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David White , Glenn Devine, Eddie Russell, LaRue Huffman, Don Stiglich, Billy Grider, Bobby Catlett, Donald Litteral and Rodney Thompson.

DANIEL CORNELIUS
Daniel G. Cornelius, 96, of Mercer County, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008.
Born Sept. 14, 1912, he was the son of the late Richard and Verner Scrogham Cornelius and widower of Myrtle Parsons Cornelius.
He was in the first graduating class from Harrodsburg High School, a business man and owner of Dan Cornelius' Used Cars for many years.
After retirement, he was Supt. of Old Fort Harrod State Park, was a Mercer County Magistrate in the 5th District worked in the Legislature in Frankfort, was a member of the Mercer County Democrats and served on various boards in the Community. He was a volunteer fireman for the Harrodsburg Fire Department, a lifetime member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, past Master Mason of the Mercer Lodge #777 F and AM, a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #307 and was a past member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners and the Harrodsburg Lions Club.
Survivors include: two daughters, Joyce (Cleo) Sanders of Harrodsburg and Janice (Dick) Johnson of Louisville; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Danna (Ronald) Sharp, one grandson, Daniel Marshall Sanders, two sisters, June Grivetti and Lyda Todd, two brothers, Richard and Jack Cornelius, two half-sisters, Evelyn Ellis and Julia Spears and four half-brothers, Jim, Robert, Fred and Howard Cornelius.
The funeral with Masonic Rites was held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Thompson, Rev. Phil Williams and Terry Morrisson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Masonic Lodge #777 F and AM, Cleo Sanders, Richard Johnson, Dan Withrow, Jimmy Withrow and Jeff Shoopman and members of the Harrodsburg Christian Church Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

MARSHA DOWNEY
Marsha Lynn Downey, 49, of Middletown, OH, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 in Indianapolis, IN from complications of heart surgery.
Born, May 15, 1959, she was the daughter of Charlie F. Goodlett of Burgin and the late Mary Lu Goodlett and was the wife of Carl Downey of Middletown, OH.
She attended Mercer County school and had many friends in Mercer County.
In addition to her husband and father, surivors include: one daughter, Danielle Nicole of Middletown, OH and one son, Christopher Royse of Nicholasville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lu Goodlett.
The funeral was held Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene in Middletown, OH with Dr. Phil Rogers officiating.
Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.
HAZEL GABBERT
Hazel Gabbert, 92, of Rushville, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at the Community Hospital East in Rushville.
Born March 30, 1916 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Nannie Lambert Voorhies and was the widow of James P. Gabbert.
She was a member of the Rushville Church of Christ.
Survivors include: three daughters, Betty Sherman of Vernon, AL, Nan Pearsey of Rushville, IN and Mary (Tom) Floys of Deltona, FL; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, James A. Gabbert, a daughter, Ruby Gabbert, four brothers, Ellis, Walter, John and Will Voorhies, four sisters, Pearl, Ollie, Sally and Ogle and one grandson, Leo Ponsler.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at the Moster Mortuary in Rushville IN.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hours of service at the Moster Mortuary. Burial will be in the East Hill Cemetery
in Rushville.
Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
FAY GORANFLO
Fay H. Goranflo, 90, of Louisville, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Twinbrook Nursing Home.
Born in Harrodsburg, she attended Harrodsburg High School and was a housewife.
She was a charter member of Beechwood Baptist Church and a member of Woodland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Emmett Goranflo Sr.; parents, Albert and Josie Kirkland Hatchell; and three sisters.
She is survived by: one son, Robert Goranflo (Linda); daughter, Karalee Goranflo; grandchildren Bryan Goranflo, Kimberly Colwick (Darron), Diana Greenier (Tim) and nine great-grandchildren.
There was a family graveside service at Middletown Cemetery.
Arrangements by Highlands Funeral Home.

JOSEPH METCALF
Joseph S. Metcalf, 58, died suddenly at his home on Meadowbrook Road, Richmond, on the morning of Wednesday, December 3, 2008.
He was born on February 7, 1950 in Richmond, the son of Charles and Jean Metcalf.
He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and a retiree and part-owner of Metcalf Metal Company. He was a member of the Flatwoods Christian Church.
Survivors include: his parents, Charles and Jean Metcalf; one brother, Mark Metcalf of Richmond; two sisters, Patricia (R. C.) Farmer of Lexington and Susan (George) Wheeler of Harrodsburg; two nieces, Lauren and Cassidy Wheeler, both of Harrodsburg.
Funeral Services were conducted Friday, December 5, at the Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home, Richmond, with Dr. Glenn Birkett officiating. Burial was in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Wheeler, R. C. Farmer, Harry Bush, Tommy Congleton, Andy Cain and William G. Turpin.

HOLLIS SANDERS
Hollis Wayne Sanders, 76, of Willisburg, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Born Sept. 1, 1932 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Ida Mae Satterly Sanders and was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Tingle Sanders.
He was a retired farmer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Cecelia (Charles) Cole of Harrodsburg; one sister, Virginia Dennis of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Wallace (Frances) Sanders of Lawrenceburg; two grandsons, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Sanders and three sisters, Vanetta Isham, Mary Magdalene Dorsey and Allene Gabbert.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. John McDaniel officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg.
Pallbearers are James Warner, Doug Gash, David Quire, Clinton Thompson, David White and Bill Yaste.
Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Hatchett, Bobby Perkins, Hughie Willard, James Thompson, Hughes Coslow and Donald Thompson.

YVETTE SPALDING
Yvette Renee’ Bedinger Spalding, 42, of Lebanon, died Friday, December 5, 2008.
Born Oct. 9, 1966, she was the wife of Robert "Boo-B" Spalding and daughter of Calvin and Mary Bedinger, both of Danville.
Yvette was a member of First Baptist Church, Danville, Kentucky. Upon her relocating to Lebanon, Kentucky, she united with First Baptist Church, Campbellsville, Kentucky. She graduated from Danville High School and Bluegrass Technical College with a nursing degree. She was employed by Taylor County Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
Additional survivors include: three children, Braxton Adams, Dailyn Spalding and D’Asya Spalding, all of Lebanon; two step-children, Shakila Goodin, Campbellsville, and Ian Deluisa, Showlow AZ; her parents, Calvin and Mary Bedinger, Danville; two brothers, Jerry (Mary) Bedinger, Harrodsburg, and Eric (Veronica) Bedinger, Cincinnati, OH; two grandmothers, Melvena Bedinger and Vernocia Neal, both of Danville; and her mother-in-law, Carol Spalding, Lebanon.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Daniel Corey Shull and Rev. Ronald McCowan officiating. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery
in Lebanon.
