RONALD ADKINSON
Ronald Lee Adkinson, 66, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, in Orlando, FL.
Born July 15, 1942, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Lee Olan and Margaret Ann Sims Adkinson and was the husband of Catherine Schryver Adkinson.
He was a 1960 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, attended Georgetown College on a football scholarship, attended Eastern Kentucky University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Viet Nam War.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Lee (Greg) Combs of LaGrange and Cody (Rick) Anderson of Orlando, FL; one son, Kennon Wesley Owen Adkinson of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren; three aunts, Mary Kennon (Levon) Drury of Harrodsburg, Doris (Foster) Sims of Danville and Mary Louise (Melwood) Adkinson of Biloxi, MS and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special pals Quigley, Jax and Pikachu.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, David.
A private memorial service will be held in the Spring at his interment in Grapevine Christian Church Cemetery.
LARRY CLARK
Larry Edward Clark, 60, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born Sept. 21, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Edward and Bernice Ann Simpson Clark.
He was a 1966 graduate of Mercer County High School and was a retired employee of Smithfield Meat Packing Company in Plant City, FL.
Survivors include: one son, Christopher (Christy) Clark of Parksville; four sisters, Rita Ashton, Frankie (Jerry) Huffman, Sue (Butch) Steele, all of Harrodsburg and Linda Clark of Lexington and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Harrodsburg with Hillary Claypoole and Michael Estes, Jr officiating. Burial was in the Perryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Eddie Burton, Penny Derringer, David Dunning, Scooter Huffman, Michael Pelley and Paul Pelley.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Huffman, Jim McGlone, Eddie Long, Tanner Powell and Willard “Butch” Steele.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The Parks Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
JOE DAVIS
Joe Leonard Davis, 82, of Springfield, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Born July 23, 1926 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Joe S. and Bessie Leonard Davis and was the husband of Ella Mae Bland Davis.
He was a member of the Mackville United Methodist Church, a 1944 graduate of Mackville High School, a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired farmer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Joe B. (Sandra) Davis of Springfield and Jim (Beverly) Davis of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Debbie (Dennis) Hise of Harrodsburg; one brother, Kenneth (Dot) Davis of Springfield; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Regan and Thelma Shewmaker.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Mackville United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Katterheinrich officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
with full military rites by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Ashley Davis, David Hise, Jason Flinn, Bryant Merchant, Anthony Young and John Hockersmith.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
LEWIS FAIN
Lewis W. Fain, 70, husband of Barbara Davis Fain for 50 years, died Friday, November 21, 2008.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William Kinnard and Edna Mae Jackson Fain.
He was operations manager for Malone & Hyde. Lewis was a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran and an avid fisherman. He was a member of D.A.V., VFW, and the American Legion.
Survivors other than his wife include: two sons; Daniel Wayne (Jackie) Fain, Argyle, TX, and William Edward (Tina) Fain Lexington; one daughter, Julie Ann Fain, Lexington; three brothers, William C. (Betty) Fain, Harrodsburg, Charles E. (Donna) Fain, Lexington, and Ralph G. (Denise) Fain, Foley, AL; one sister, Wilma B. Fugate, VA; and four grandchildren, Joshua T. Fain, Lexington, William K., Aaron C., and Tedi C. Fain, all of Argyle, TX.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert J. Fain and two sisters Clara E. Becknell, and Linda R. Nantz.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington, by the Rev. Ronnie Hupp. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joshua T., William K. Aaron C., Tedi C., Brian, and William Fain.

THOMAS FREELAND
Thomas Norval Freeland, 61, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 28, 1947 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Norval D. and Lucille Marie Paul Freeland and was the husband of Maribeth Sproles Freeland.
He was a retired design engineer and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Catherine Anne Henry of Lexington; one son, Jonathan Thomas Freeland of Harrodsburg and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice or to The American Cancer Society (Relay for Life).
NEOMA HATCHETT
Neoma Sanford Hatchett, 101, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Kennesaw, GA.
Born Sept. 16, 1907 in Bohon, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Melinda Sanford and was the was the widow of Woodson Albert Hatchett.
She was a former school teacher and homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, James Powell (Linda) Hatchett of Wellington, FL; one daughter, Anne Hatchett Tyler of Kennesaw, GA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Hume Hatchett.
The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Julius Hovan officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Railey, Tim Tyler, Adam Lebow, Patrick Hatchett, Delbert Reynolds, Greg Grothe, N. S. Buster and Harold Reynolds.
LINDSEY HILL
Lindsey Wayne Hill, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sept. 4, 1937 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Marvin and Tulla Bell Ritter Hill and was the husband of Treva Hill.
He was a truck driver for the Lamb Trucking Co. and owner and driver of Hill Bus Lines. He was a member of the Benton Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and the Director of Discipleship Training.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, John Chad (Beth) Hill of Irvine; one half-sister, Mary Ellen McDonald of Washington , N.C. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Hill.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Gray officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Abrams, Mitch Abrams, Eddie Browning, Bill Hill, Danny Goodpaster, Scott Patton, Bryan Nevius and Tharen Stephens.

JACK MALLOY
John James “Jack” Malloy, 75, of Harrodsburg died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at his home in Mallard Cove.
Born Dec. 9, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew Joseph and Elizabeth Patterson Malloy and the husband of Margaret Misiak Malloy.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a brick mason for the Local # 5 Union in Cleveland OH and a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: four daughters, Monica Finley of Vermilion, OH, Christine do Couto of Lexington, Margaret Thiessen of Vermilion, OH and Kathleen Miller of Clyde, OH; three sons, James Malloy of Avon, OH, David Malloy of Berlin Heights, OH and John Malloy of Lorain, OH; one sister, Janet Peterson of Simi Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren and one great–grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores and Margie and two brothers, Andrew and Charles.
A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery
in Nicholasville.
JOHNNY MONROE
Johnny Monroe, 46, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 9, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late James C. Monroe and Catherine Lowry Carroll and was the widower of Rhonda Egbert Monroe.
He served in the Kentucky National Guard and was a former detail person for Man-O-War Ford in Lexington.
Survivors include: one step-son, Michael Lynn Devine of Harrodsburg; three step-daughters, Shelly Kay Devine and Elizabeth Jean Devine, both of Harrodsburg and Kelly Joe (Dusty) Shackelford of Stanford; two brothers, Barry Estes of Indianapolis, IN and James Monroe of Lexington; one sister, Judy McGlothlin of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shelia Prather.
The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Hilary Claypool officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brian Preston, Jason Estes, Randy Crawford, Gary Lowry, Tim Lowry and David Gibson.
Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
IRVIN RAY SR.
Irvin Martin Ray Sr., 84, of Whitehall Road, Willisburg, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center in Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J. W. Hatfield, pastor of Willisburg Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Terry McIlvoy.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg.
FRANCES SPEER
Frances Speer, 86, Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Dec. 28, 1921 in Clifton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna La Pierre Martin.
She was an acclaimed florist in New York and New Jersey and held a bachelors degree in Gerontology from Madonna College in Lavonia, MI. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg and operated a Bed and Breakfast (Dowling Hall) in Lawrenceburg for several years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Laurel Anne Kudla of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren; two foster granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Father Danny Schwendeman officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
