HAZEL SOUTHERLAND
Hazel Coyle Southerland, 88, Clintonville Road, Paris, widow of William Otha Southerland, Sr., died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Bourbon Heights.
She was born September 20, 1920 in Casey County, daughter of the late James Thomas and Grace Pipes Coyle.
She was a former bus driver and cafeteria worker for the Bourbon County School System. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church.
She is survived by two sons, James Allen (Patsy) Southerland, Anderson, IN, Will (Cindy) Southerland, Paris; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Southerland, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Coleman Southerland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 20, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris by Bro. MarJoe Wooten with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Casket bearers will be James Means, Connie Barron, James A. Southerland, Jr., James A. Southerland, III, Mark Fiskeaux, Mark Fiskeaux, Jr., and Luke Dodrill.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Bourbon Heights Activity Fund or Pilgrim Holiness Church Mission Fund.
WILMA ADAMS
Wilma Jean Adams, 69, of Richmond, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008, after arrival at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Madison County on April 19, 1939, to the late Wesley and Sarah Mae Winkler Jackson.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who was the “Rock” of the family.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Jackson, of Harrodsburg, and Bobby Chapple of Kinchloe, MI; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted Monday, November 24, 2008, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial followed at Pilot Knob Cemetery.
EDWENIA BOWDOIN
Edwenia Langford Bowdoin, 64, of Liberty died Sunday November 23, 2008.
Born Dec. 5, 1943, in Casey County, she was a daughter of A. C. and Evelyn Langford of Liberty.
She was a former employee of Palm Beach Co. and attended Carr's Chapel First Church of God.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Pamila Swartzlander of Warner Robins, GA, and Rhonda Lowery of Paducah; four sisters, Barbara Hatchel of Lebanon, Loretta Lee and Janice Baker, both of Liberty, and Deborah Gifford of Harrodsburg; one brother, Ronnie Langford of Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, November 25, at the Bartle Funeral Home in Liberty.
FREDA BRISCOE
Freda Caroline Briscoe 71, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at her residence.
Born July 8, 1937 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Baker and Anna Byrd Carr and was the wife of the late Alfred Earl Briscoe.
She operated a family care home for 25 years and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Earl Briscoe of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Garnetta Wallace of Russellville and Alfreda Whitehouse and Kathy Briscoe, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Fonnie Baker; one sister, Barbara Green of Lawrenceburg; twelve grandchildren, twelve great–grandchildren and one great–great–grandchild.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Baker, Art Baker, James Ray Griffieth, Harold Baker, Robbie Baker and Connie Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Martin, Nordy Votaw, Bill Baker, Maurice Jr. Baker, Tommy Simpson, Ronnie Simpson, Cleo Baker Jr., Timmy Baker, Scotty Baker, Charlie Baker, Shane Briscoe and Nohemy Ambrose.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
JIM CAMPBELL
Jim Peck Campbell, 51, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Aug. 22, 1957 in Casey County, he was the son of Lorene Peck Campbell of Mercer County and the late Carl Campbell and was the husband of Alice Simpson Staton.
He was an employee of White 's Fencing.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Melanie Campbell of West Virginia; one step-daughter, Sarah Staton of Harrodsburg; four brothers, Wendell Campbell of Hustonville, Glenn Campbell of Boyle County; Gerald (Cheryl) Campbell of Burgin and Terry (Connie) Campbell of Stanford; one sister, Rose Mary Campbell of Harrodsburg; one grand-daughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Campbell, and a nephew, Terry Campbell.
The funeral was held Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wendell Campbell, Glenn Campbell, Gerald Campbell, Terry Campbell, Guy Driscol and Junior Campbell.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
JACK MALLOY
John James “Jack” Malloy, 75, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at his home in Mallard Cove.
Born Dec. 9, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew Joseph and Elizabeth Patterson Malloy and was the husband of Margaret Misiak Malloy.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, was a brick mason for the Local # 5 Union in Cleveland, OH and was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: four daughters, Monica Finley of Vermilion, OH, Christine do Couto of Lexington, Margaret Thiessen of Vermilion, OH and Kathleen Miller of Clyde, OH; three sons, James Malloy of Avon, OH, David Malloy of Berlin Heights, OH and John Malloy of Lorain, OH; one sister, Janet Peterson of Simi Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores and Margie and two brothers, Andrew and Charles.
A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Andrew Catholic Church at a later date. Burial will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery
in Nicholasville.

LUCILLE RIDGWAY
Lucille Lay Lowrey Ridgway, widow of Sam H. Ridgway, died November 19, 2008 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born in 1912 Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lola Lay.
Until recently, Mrs. Ridgway lived in Louisville where she was a member of the Crescent Hill Baptist Church, the Louisville Woman’s Club and former board member of the local Goodwill Industries International.
Mrs. Ridgway is survived by: one daughter, Gerry Lowrey Jackson, Danville; one son, Dr. Michael Eugene (Sally) Lowrey of Fort Myers, FL; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Lowrey, and a grandson, William Mack Jackson, Jr.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 22, at The Presbyterian Church of Danville, 500 West Main Street, and was conducted by Rev Jim Stewart and Rev. William Johnson.
A reception at the church and burial at Springhill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, immediately followed.

LIBBY YOUNG
Elizabeth "Libby" Dedman Young, 60, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at her home.
Born Jan, 27, 1948 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late T. C. “Bud” Dedman and Mary Elizabeth Ransdell Dedman and was the wife of R. Van Young.
She was a graduate of Centre College and was the 1967 Mountain Laurel Queen. She was a former member of The Louisville Younger Woman's Club and Junior League of Louisville. She taught at Barrett Traditional School and was a member of the Board of Directors of Second Presbyterian Preschool and active on various boards at Kentucky Country Day School. She volunteered at Baptist Hospital East.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Mollie (Dave) Monaco of Raleigh, NC and Maggie (Mark) Peeler of Due West, SC; three brothers, Dr. Tom (Debbe) Dedman of Louisville and Dr. Nick (Elaine) Dedman and Chuck (Helen) Dedman, both of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Dedman Hunt.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 24 at Springdale Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

MARY WARREN
Mary Wade Warren, 92, of Frankfort, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 20 2008.
She was the widow of Mark Warren and a retired school teacher.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the First Baptist Church in Frankfort.
Smith-Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
HOMER HULETTE
Bro. Homer A. Hulette, 86, of Ellenton, FL died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 after a long battle with lung cancer.
Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Burgin, he was the son of the late Ira Payne Hulette Sr. and Pearlie Eason Hulette and was the husband of Margaret Redden Hulette.
He was a retired employee of Corning Glass Works in Harrodsburg and in Danville, Virginia. He took an early retirement and moved to Westville, NJ to enroll in the first class of the Institute of Biblical Studies offered by The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc., where he graduated. He began a new ministry primarily helping Jewish people immigrate from the former Soviet Union to Israel and offering free New Testaments to Jewish people willing to read them.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Joy (Richard) Smith of Nashville, TN, Rebecca Graves of Roanoke, VA; one son, Homer Thomas (Joan) Hulette of Ellenton, FL; two brothers, Harold Hulette of Burgin and Garnett Hulette of Mt. Dora, FL; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ira Payne Hulette Jr., Roy Hulette and W. D. Hulette and one sister, Ruby Hulette.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at Mansion Funeral Home in Ellenton, FL.
CONNIE CHUMLEY
Connie Chumley, 82, husband of Ann Chumley, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his residence in Cornishville.
Born October 9, 1926 in Washington County he was the son of the late Roy and Artie Catlett Chumley.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired Signet & Clark Security employee and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Cornishville Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, church clerk, training union director and Sunday School superintendent.
Additional survivors include: one son, David (Carol) Chumley of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mary Cornish (Albert) Elliott of Harrodsburg; three grand-daughters, Carmen (Eddie) Sallee of Bowling Green, Carolee (Casey) Taylor of Yulee, FL; Cara (Michael John) Johnson of Harrodsburg; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 5, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King and Bro. Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial with military Rites will be in Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David White , Glenn Devine, Eddie Russell, LaRue Huffman, Don Stiglich, Billy Grider, Bobby Catlett and Donald Litteral.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 7 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
