COLE SEBRING
Cole Sebring, 86, of Cincinnati, OH died on June 30, 2008.
Born Aug. 20, 1921 in Tyrone, he was the son of the late William and Claribel Gannon Sebring and was the husband of Sara Lee Sebring.
He served in the US Navy from 1942-1946, retired from Corning Inc. and served as Elder and Deacon at the United Presbyterian Church in Harrodsburg.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, John Cole (Amy) Sebring of Cincinnati OH; one daughter, Mary Gay (Patrick) McCormick, of Montebello, NY; two brothers, J. Clarence (Wanda) Sebring of Rock Stream, NY and Burr A. (Kit) Sebring of Providence, RI; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Dundee Baptist Church in New York with Rev. Anitra Price officiating. Inturnment with full military honor’s will be in Tyrone Union Cemetery
in Tyrone, NY.

EDNA WATTS
Edna M. Watts, 93, widow of Marshall F. Watts, died Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Cook and Anna Lee Agee Johnson.
Mrs. Watts was a former resident of Millville in Woodford County, and a retired salesperson for Perkins Department Store. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church where she was active in the Women’s Department.
Survivors include a son, Shirley R. (Molly) Watts, Nicholasville; two daughters, Linda (Carl) Gant, Versailles, and Ann (Jim) Faulconer, Melbourne, FL; a brother, Joe Johnson, Versailles; a sister, Letha Foster, Versailles; five grandsons, David (Kris) Watts, Harrodsburg, Danny Watts, Versailles, Steve (Susan) Faulconer, Titusville, FL, and Kenneth (Laura) Gant, Lexington, and Len (Kelly) Gant, Louisville; three granddaughters, Debbie (Mike) Breaux, Rockford, IL, Karen Mooney, Portland, OR, and Leigh Thompson, Melbourne, FL; 18 great -grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held Monday, July 28, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Minister Mike Breaux. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.

ROBERT BROYLES
Robert S. “Bobby” Broyles died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Seather River Hospital in Paradise, CA.
Born October 25, 1939 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Beva Satterly Broyles.
He was a self-employed printer owning and operating Broyles Printing in Paradise for 28 years. He was a member of the Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Broyles; a son, Jeffery (Jenny) Boyles, Roseville, CA; three grandson, Nick, Taylor and Jordan; and five sisters, Wanda (James) Overstreet and Linda (Tom) Johnson, both of Danville, Glenna Engle, Harrodsburg, Evelyn Engle, Liberty, and Polly Dennis, Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and George Broyles.
Memorial services were held Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church in Paradise, CA. Pastor Robert Sorenson officiated.

CHARLES BURGESS
Charles Michael Burgess, 54, of Georgetown, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday July 31, 2008 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
A native of Clark County, he was the son of Jean Hull Burgess of Winchester and the late Lonnie C. Burgess.
Mr. Burgess was an employee of Toyota Manufacturing, a 1971 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, attended the University of Kentucky, was a former member of Boy Scout Troop No. 54, a former coach of the Lexington-South Eastern Little League and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Additional survivors include: his life partner of 18 years, Lori Sullivan of Georgetown; two stepsons, Gary Thomas Hall and Thomas Keith Sullivan, both of the United States Army; one brother, Douglas Burgess of Lexington; one niece, Amanda Jean (Jarrett) Wilmhoff of Covington; and one nephew, Robert Franklin Burgess of Harrodsburg.
Services were conducted Tuesday, August 5, at the Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester by Rev. Charles Pinkston. Burial was in Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Ward, Bruce Markley, Ricky Sheets, Barry Royce, Buck Eades, Robert Burgess and Bob Felts.
Contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans Fund.
RUBY COX
Ruby Beatrice Moore Cox, 81, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008.
Born Jan. 21, 1927 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie T. and Cora Lamb Moore and was the widow of Arthur Cox.
She was a member of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include: one sister, Barbara Sayre of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Moore, both of Mercer County and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Sunday, Aug. 3 at the Wilder Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her nephews.

DOROTHY HOSKINS
Dorothy L. Fallis Hoskins 76, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Hoskins was born May 8, 1932 in Anderson County, daughter of the late Noma Goldie Kays and Charles Curtis Fallis, Sr. She was the widow of Wilmer “Bill” Hoskins.
She was employed with Kentucky State Government as a clerk in the transportation cabinet.
Survivors include five children; Debbie Wilder Sutherland, Bobby (Denise) Wilder, Wayne (Lisa) Wilder, Kim (David) Wilcher, all of Lawrenceburg, and Brad (Sandra) Hoskins of Lexington; six grandchildren, Crystal (Brad) Cox, Michael (Elaine) Sutherland, Mathew Wilder, Charles (Amy) Wilder, Nicole Wilder, and Lucas Wilcher all of Lawrenceburg, four great-grandchildren, Brady and Bryce Cox, Carson Sutherland, and Caden Wilder, and a brother, C. C. Fallis and his wife Hilda, all of Lawrenceburg. She is also survived by William Wilder of Harrodsburg, father of Debbie, Wayne, and Bobby.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David “D. J.” Wilcher.
Funeral service were held Saturday, August 2, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Michael Sutherland, Charles Wilder, Lucas Wilcher, Matthew Wilder, Brad Cox and Gary Sutherland.

JAMES HULETT
James Hulett, 88, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008 at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster.
Born April 21, 1920 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Riley and Rosie Barr Hulett and was the husband of Dolores Hill Hulett. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he earned Five Battle Stars, was a retired Manager of the Boiler Room at Kentucky State Hospital, and was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Rosie (David) Phillips of Burgin; one sister, Mary Rose Royalty of Lexington; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Black and Neoma Medley.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Daugherty officiating.
Burial with military Honors was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan Sparks, Chris Sparrow, Brian Britt, James Ray Hill, Brian Davis and Joseph Schroeder.

Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, V.F.W and D.A.V. Post #54 conducted military rites for James Hulett at Spring Hill Cemetery
Aug. 5, 2008.
Those attending were cutis and Earl Sherrow, Joe Harlow, Tom Rappleye, Jim Stinnett, Floyd Shirley, Lucian Landers and James Tewmey.
Zena Teater III served as bugler.
Army representatives from Fort Knox were SFC Rodney Farmer and SFC Dougalas Ferguson.
FERRELL SETTLES
Ferrell Gee Settles, 65, of Burgin, departed this world Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, to enter his Heavenly home. He died at his home where he was cared for by his wife Pat Warner Settles and his friend and caregiver Michael David Garrett.
Born May 25, 1943 in Mackville, he was the son of Martha Price Settles and the late Calbert Ted Settles. He owned and operated Pat’s Janitorial Service for a number of years after working for Jane and Linda Sport Wear for 32 yrs. He enjoyed vacationing with friends: Bill and Patsy Harrison, bowling, wood crafting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Other survivors include: one daughter: Gloria (Wendall) Denise Nall of Burgin, Grandchildren: Savanna Lynn Bartley of Campbellsville and Zachary Kyle Bartley of Burgin; Brothers-In-Law and their wives: Tony (Marlene) Warner and Ronnie (Deborah) Cooley; Mother In Law, Violet Warner; Cousin, David (Dorothy) Price of Lebanon.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Paul Powell and Kenneth Whitehouse with burial in the Peter’s Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers were Douglas Taylor, Chris Deaton, David Deaton, Bill Harrison, Tony Harrison and David Peavler.
Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 6 after 10 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

GEORGIA SHELL
Georgia Speaks Shell, 75, Richmond Road, Lancaster, died Friday August 1, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
She was born August 28, 1932 in Garrard County to the late Hamilton and Ada Greene Speaks.
She was involved in many church, community, and school functions in Garrard County all of her life. Besides being a lifelong member of the Paint Lick Christian Church, she was a founding member of the Garrard County Fair Board and the Tobacco Festival. Georgia was on the Garrard County 4-H Council and the Farm Bureau Women's Committee. She was a partner in Shell Farms and Shell Farms Greenhouses.
Survivors include: her husband, G B Shell; one son, Gary (Billie) Shell of Lancaster and a daughter, Terry Shell Brown of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Jamie Brown Kiper of Nicholasville, Elizabeth Kline of NY, Giles and Jonathan Shell of Lancaster; step-grandchildren, Tessa, Bret, Carly, and Derek Dowell; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Shell and Andrew Kiper. Also surviving are three sisters, Pat (Louis) Walters of Harrodsburg, Linda (Jim) May of WV, and Jo Ann Williams (Joe) of Shelbyville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Speaks.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, August 7, at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-9 pm.
Active pallbearers will be Gary, Giles, and Jonathan Shell, Phillip Kiper, Phil Murphy, Mike Carter, Gary Gaffney, Richard (Ricky) Arnold, and Theo Powers.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Preston, Joyce Baker, Linda Ray, Tom Burnam, Bob Baker, Ellen Hagan, Katie Rollins, Joshua Brown, Rita Wylie, Maurice Middleton, and Linda Crace.
ETHEL POPE
Ethel Cathleen Pope, 78, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center after a long illness.
Born Jan. 22, 1930 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Scottie Meaux Pope.
She was a graduate of West Side High School, a caretaker having worked for the Willmott Family in Harrodsburg for many years and was a member the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one brother, John Pope, Jr. of Anaheim, CA; one niece, Joanie Pope of San Diego, CA; one cousin, Mattie Cunningham of Harrodsburg and several other cousins and friends.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at the Parks Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Childs and Bro. Herman Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were C. L. Bartleson, Truman Bartleson, Jr., Michael Keller, Gary Walker, Curtis Willmott and Melvin “Hobo” Yates.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Humane Society.
