ANN DENNY
Ann Bonta Denny, 79, formerly of Burgin, died Saturday June 21, 2008 at Harrodsburg Health Care Manor in Harrodsburg.
Born April 1, 1929 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence William and Ora Ellen Sallee Bonta and was the widow of Dudley Denny.
She was a 1947 graduate of Burgin High School, was associated with A & P for 28 years as cashier and bookkeeper, was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher at Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one brother, William “Bill” Bonta of Orlando, FL; one grandson, Earl Denny, III of Harrodsburg; one great granddaughter, Keaira Denny of Harrodsburg and two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Earl Denny, Jr. and a brother, James Bonta.
The funeral was held Tuesday June 24, 2008 at Burgin Memorial Gardens with Harold Best officiating.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
EMMA GRIFFIETH
Emma Elizabeth Greene Griffieth, 83, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
She was born Feb 7, 1925 in McQenney, KY to the late Thomas Joseph and Georgia Belle Osborne Greene.
Emma was a homemaker, member of the Southland Christian Church and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include: two sons, Ricky Lynn (Timi) Moberly, Salvisa and William Jeffery "Jeff" (Donna) Moberly, Sadieville; grandchildren, William Bartlett and Susan Moberly Allen, Rocky Laughlin, Robin and Jason Lambert, Chandra and Dakota Moberly, Chris Releford and Jennifer Crisp, seven great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Samuel McClintock, former son-in-law, Allen Laughlin and other family members.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Sue Moberly Laughlin and Annabelle Moberly McClintock.
Services were held Saturday, June 21, at the Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Burial to was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Bearers were Randy Turner, David Duggins, Randy Teegarden, Andy Walker, Stanley Patton and Eddie Goodlett.
Honorary bearers were Bob Morford, Grandell Bradford, Luther Bruner and Bill Gregory.

JOSEPH HOWARD
Joseph Curtis Howard, 74, of Salvisa, died Saturday, June 21, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 22, 1933 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late John Wallace and Jimmie Lena Phillips Howard.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a self employed farmer.
Survivors include: three daughters, Pamela (Will) Hisoire of Richmond, Lisa H Cloyd of Salvisa and Beverly Jo Howard of Lexington; two sons, James (Brigette) Howard of Salvisa and John (Denise) Howard of Scott County; three brothers, John Allen Howard of Ohio, R. D. Howard of Georgetown and Charles D. Howard of FL and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Curtis Howard, Jr., two brothers, James and Elmo Howard and two sisters, Marion Gray Gilmore and Mildred Mims.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Byrd and William Morgan officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
SANDFORD MEAUX
Sanford Lee “Tank” Meaux, 84, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Nov. 17, 1923 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Art Meaux and Virgie Meaux Hoskins.
He attended West Side School, was a retired horse groomer and trainer having worked for the Rosa Lee Falls and George Gwinn Horse Farms and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sue C. Alcorn of Williamsburg; one sister, Mary (James) Payne of Harrodsburg; one uncle, John Vandyke of Lexington and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore Meaux and James T. Hoskins and one aunt, Russie Kendrick.
The funeral was held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Parks Funeral Home with Bro. Herman Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
WILLIAM PEACH
William Ralph Peach, 76, husband of Hazel A. Coulter Peach died Thursday, June 19, 2008.
He is also survived by: three daughters, Georgie (Randy) Randolph, AK, Gelonda (Bill) Wayman, NC, Crystal Drury, Frankfort, adopted daughter, Gail Kelly, Harrodsburg; four sons, Billy Peach, Harrodsburg, Bobby (Judy) Peach, Buddy (Dutchess) Peach, and Jimmy (Cathy) Drury, all of Lawrenceburg; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Fred) Raymond, TN, and Virginia (Jimmy) Durham, Berea.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg. with Bro. Roy Temple officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery

ZELMA RITTER
Zelma Rae Cunningham Ritter, 69, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
She was born September 1, 1938 in Mercer County to A. C. Cunningham of Lawrenceburg and the late Margaret Parrott Cunningham.
Mrs. Ritter was a homemaker, charter member of the Anderson Christian Church where she was a member of the Retired Angels and Young at Heart Club.
In addition her father, she is survived by: her husband of 47 years, Bobby Allen Ritter; two children, Sharon (Tom) Phillips of Lawrenceburg and Scott (Pam) Ritter of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Shkala Ritter of Bowling Green, Matthew and Hannah Phillips of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Joyce (Jackie) Gritton of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Roy S. (Renee) Cunningham and Carroll P. (Betty) Cunningham, both of Shelbyville; and an aunt, Ressie Lash of Indianapolis, IN.
Funeral service were held Friday, June 20, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Doug Simpson officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

EDNA ROBERTSON
Edna Mae Curry Robertson, 89, widow of Walter Lee “Bob” Robertson, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at her home.
She was born on July 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Vernon Curry and Sena Tracy.
She operated Robertson's Curtain Service, specializing in curtains, crocheted dollies and fine linens, and was a former employee of Stagg Distillery. She was a member of Thornhill Baptist Church and Thornhill Homemakers Club.
She is survived by: one son, Ronnie Lee (Susan) Robertson, Salvisa; one granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Robertson, Frankfort; two grandsons, Corey (Natalie) Robertson, Lexington and Clay Thomas Robertson, Salvisa; and one sister, Elizabeth Harrod, Frankfort.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lou Ann Riddell and Lucile Mitchell.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Wallace Kent and Tony Elam at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial was at Frankfort Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Frankfort Office, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, Ky.
Casket bearers were Wayne Riddell, Larry Riddell, Wayne Carroll, Elic Coleman Jones, Charles Vernon Harrod and Ken Mitchell.
Honorary bearers were Roy Lee Grisham, Cathy Campbell and the Faithful Workers Sunday School class of Thornhill Baptist Church.
JASON TATE
Jason Estil Tate, 78, of East Walnut Street, Danville, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Born March 19, 1930 in Boyle County, he was the son of Roy and Nettie Webb Tate and the widower of Betty Marie Seay Tate.
He was the owner of Jason Tate and Son Painting Contractor and a U.S. Army veteran of Occupied Japan where he was an MP. Jason was a member of the AMVETS Post # 123 and the VFW Post # 3634. He was an avid rose gardener and enjoyed woodworking in his retirement. As past president of the Danville Optimist Club for 4 years, he was proud of their involvement with the children of our area. He loved his years of being involved with children, whether he was coaching a Little League Baseball team, playing Santa Claus or just taking a few children snipe hunting.
Survivors include: his children, Rita (John) Hooper and Eddie Tate, both of Danville, and Cathy (Haldon) Lewis of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, Jason (Leah) Hooper and Tate Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Ann Grace Hooper and Jane Hooper.
He was predeceased by a sister, Margie Tate and five brothers, Walter Tate, W. E. Tate, Joe Tate, Owen Tate and J. B. Tate.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 26, at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Barry Harmon and Rev. Mark Tate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery
with military Honors provided by the American Legion, Boyle Post # 46 and the U. S. Army.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
CHARLES TAYLOR
Charles Perry Taylor, 65, of Liberty died Friday, June 13, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lincoln County on April 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Colonel and May Floyd Black. He was the widower of Jean Hogue Taylor.
He was a carpenter, a member of Willow Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kimberly (Lester) Wesley of Bethelridge; two grandchildren, Cory and Dustin Wesley; a special friend, Edith Salyers, and her children, David, Diane, Debra, Vicky, Ricky, Timothy, Daril and Jerome; a brother, Thomas Taylor of Mercer County; and a sister, Geraldine Webb of Florida.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy, Darlene, and Jewell.
Funeral services were June 16 at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. David Terwilliger and Bro. Kevin Pittman. Burial was in Grove Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chuck Durham, Anthony Brown, Larry and Ted Hogue, Mike and Robbie Lee.
Honorary pallbearers were Timothy and Ricky Salyers.
RALPH HARLOW
Ralph Harlow, 86, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born June 26, 1921 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Strater and Flora Alice Moore Harlow and was the husband of Lettie Frances Jackson Harlow.
He served the Army during WWII, was a retired Truck Driver for the Kentucky State Highway Dept. and a member of the Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Shelvie Jean Estes of Edgewater, FL; one son, Ralph Harlow Jr. of Berea; one sister, Lovena H. Wilham of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Steve James officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Browning, Tim Sheehan, Troy Howard, Allen William Harlow, Robert Sean Estes and Jeremy Shannon Estes.
Honorary pallbearers were Carl Carey Jr., Les Rue, Paul Tyler, J.L. Devine, Bernice J. Long, Walter Jackson and Jerry Wilson.
