KRISTIN BARTLETT
Kristin Leigh Bartlett, 25, of Myers Court, Lancaster, formerly of Jessamine County, died June 3, 2008.
She was the daughter of Russell Wells and Leona Horton Cheek.
Additional survivors include: three children, Jeremy Allen Bartlett, Clayton James Bartlett and Christerfer Scott Wells; a brother, Stevie Jewell; and two sisters, Stephanie Smith and Tracy Inman.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Jeanette Wells.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Southside Christian Church, 1950 Danville Road, Harrodsburg.
MARVIN CARROLL
Marvin Wayne Carroll, 58, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 15, 1950 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Sherman and Ida Mae Carroll and was the husband of Catherine Lowry Carroll.
He was a farm laborer and a member of First Church of God in Danville.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three step sons, Barry Lee Estes of Indianapolis, Jimmy Monroe of Lexington and Johnny Monroe of Harrodsburg; one step-daughter, Judy McGlothlin of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Jewelene (Paul) Mefford of Augusta, Fernese Blevins of Brodhead, Wanda Faye (Lee) Harness of Stanford and Brenda Sue Owens of Ottawa; thirteen step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Shelia Prather and one brother, James Leon Carroll.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Cox officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Blevins, Jeffrey Harness, Ruben Harness, Ricky Catlett, Ricky Terrell and Wayne Wesley.
Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
GEORGE DESHAZER
George DeShazer, 60, of Bardstown, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was a native of Harrodsburg and a retired farrier.
Survivors include: one daughter, Rita D Carrico of Bardstown, two sons: John DeShazer of Harrodsburg, and David DeShazer of Bardstown, three sisters: Eva Mae Baugh of Sumter, SC, Brenda Gabbard of Lancaster, Myrgle Huffman of Harrodsburg, former wife & caregiver: Linda DeShazer of Bardstown, five grandchildren, one great grandchild.
The funeral was held Monday, June 9 at the Cox’s Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Bratcher officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Huffman, Fred Huffman, Dan Huffman, Jason Watts, Dewayne Cissell, and David Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Gabbard, John DeShazer, David DeShazer, Phillip Lindsay, C. H. Kirkpatrick, Wendy McGinnis and Cpt. Jerry Baugh.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.

CLAUDE FREEMAN
Claude A. “Shine” Freeman, 89, of Lebanon, OH died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Bethesda North Hospital.
Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Garfield and Annie Bunnell Freeman and was the husband of Eliza Wilder Freeman.
He was retired from GM in Dayton as a machinist and served in the US Army in WWII.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Gerald (Janet) Freeman of Lebanon, OH; one daughter, Claudia (Allen) Sussman of Silver Spring, MD; two sisters, Doris Freeman of Lebanon, OH and Irene Bottoms of Lexington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald Freeman, Jr.
Visitation from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 at Stine-Kilborn Funeral Home in Lebanon, OH.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13 at the Spring Hill Cemetery.

MILDRED KABLER
Mildred Kabler, 82, of Bibb Street, Campbellsville died Friday, June 6, 2008 at her residence after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mattie Howston Donovan.
She survived by: four daughters, Janice (Dan) Allen of West Union OH, Gloria (Roger) Helton of Felicity, OH, Frances (Ralph) Kuechler of Jonesville, KY, and Eva (Mike) Heath of Harrodsburg, 16 grandchildren, four step grandchildren; one brother, Albert Ross Donovan of Troy, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Kabler, two brothers, Kenneth and James Donovan, two sisters, Virginia Blackburn and Veva Holliday.
Cremation was chosen with memorial services to be at a later date in Neville, Ohio.
Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home, Campbellsville, is in charge of arrangements.
WAYNE SPARKS
Rev. Wayne Allen Sparks, 69, husband of Carol Daniels Sparks, of Lexington, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
A Lexington native, he was the son of the late Oscar and Allene Dunaway Sparks.
A retired United Methodist minister, he belonged to the Kentucky Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church of which he had faithfully served agencies, boards and committees. His pastorates included Gallup, Liberty (Greenup Co.), Salvisa, Shiloh, Cumberland, Corbin Trinity, Alexandria, Erlanger, Nicholasville, Prestonsburg, Paintsville, Lexington Park and Cynthiana First United Methodist Churches. He received his BA from Asbury College and his M. Div. from Asbury Seminary. He was a longtime member of Rotary.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one son David (Dawn) Sparks, Crestwood; one daughter, Paula (Jim) Deaton, Richmond; one brother and two sisters; grandchildren, Allen Dunaway, Megan Sparks, Amanda Dunaway-Deaton, J.C. Deaton, Luke Sparks and Janessa Deaton.
A daughter, Angela Michal (Micki) Sparks, preceded him in death.
Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at The Rock/La Roca United Methodist Church by Dr. Sewell Woodard, Dr. Howard Olds, Rev. Eugene Strange and Rev. Aaron Mansfield with interment in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the W. R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway and Saturday at the church after noon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Missional Ministries of The Rock/La Roca United Methodist Church or the Micki Sparks Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Prestonsburg First United Methodist Church.
IRIS BRISCOE
Iris Mariela Briscoe, 49, of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Born Oct. 31, 1958 in Panama, she was the daughter of the late Jose Maria and Maria Jaramillo Correa.
She was a former employee of Dairy Queen in Harrodsburg and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: two daughters, Earline (Jed) Carter of Clarksville, TN and Nohemy (Guy) Ambrose of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren and several brothers and sisters of Panama.
A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with family and friends.

DWIGHT BUTCHER
Dwight Dayton Butcher, 95, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Port Richey, Fla. died Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born August 23, 1912, in Norfolk, OH, he was a son of the late Perlin and Villa McKinsey Butcher.
He was a sales manager for Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co. for 41 years prior to his retirement to Florida. Mr. Butcher was a 50-year member of the Blue Lodge of the Masonic Order, a member of the 32nd degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Mystic Order of the Shrine. He also was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge and The Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by: two sons, Dayton M. "Mike" (Peggy) Butcher of Danville, and David Dee (Joyce) Butcher of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Gregory Michael Butcher, Kristi Butcher Yahn, Joshua Bailey Butcher and Dale Butcher, all of Lexington, Michael Butcher of Columbus, Ohio, and Gary Butcher of Jackson Gap, AL.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Danny Butcher.
It was Mr. Butcher's request that no formal services be held.

FAYE CAREY
Faye Masters Carey, 101, of Mackville, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born, March 29, 1907 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Squire Jay and Ida Freeman Masters and was the widow of Frank Carey.
She was the oldest member of the Mackville Church Of Christ and was a former employee of Medco Center.
Survivors include: two daughters, Violet Elliott of Springfield and Joyce (Karl) Kuehr of Louisville, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, four nieces and three nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Lou Carey, a son-in-law, Edward Elliott, a great grandson, Clark Elliott, a brother, Dewey Masters and five sisters, Bertha Ward, Norah McMillan, Pearl Masters, Ada Holiday and Stella Goodknow.
The funeral was held Wednesday, June 18 at the Mackville Church Of Christ with Bro. Harry Coultas, Bro. Frank Preston and Bro. Orell Overman officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery
at Mackville.
Pallbearers were Doug Elliott, Paul Elliott, Keith Kuehr, Bill Braden, Todd Hood, Jim Bedo and Brad Dunnagan.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Powell, Sandy Carey, Mark Moore, Richard Carey, Pete Carey, Norman Darland, Joe Settles and Steve Settles.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
DON COCHRAN
Don David Cochran, 62, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at his home in Lexington.
Born in Cincinnati, he was the son of the late William and Lorene Peugh Cochran.
He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and the University of Louisville, a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and an industrial equipment salesman.
Survivors include: one daughter, Chase Cochran; one son, Shane Cochran and two grandchildren, all of Lexington.
The funeral was held Friday June 13, 2008 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

MARY DENNY
Mary Sexton Denny, 86, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at her residence in Burgin.
Born May 24, 1922 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Fannie Pulliam Sexton and was the widow of Herbert Denny Sr.
She was a retired employee of Cricketeer in Harrodsburg and was a member of the Burgin Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Norma J. Denny of Burgin; one sister, Evelyn (Marvin) Cocanougher of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Beth Lozier and one great grandchild, Lee Tanner Lozier of Harrodsburg.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Denny, Jr.
The funeral was held Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Larry Harris and Gary Story officiating. Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Pierce, Tommy Denny, Danny Denny, Bill Stringfield, Marvin Cocanougher, Larry Bugg and Robert Cocanougher.
