MARTHA GRIFFIN
Martha May Griffin, 57, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday March 5, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan. 23, 1951 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Calvin H.G. and Delila Price King.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Timmy Griffin and Terry Griffin, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Gary (Carolyn) King, Calvin H.G. (Marsha) King Jr. and Carthol (Judy) King, all of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Ruth (Jerry) Barker, Shirley Boyd and Patricia (Fred) Johnson, all of Nicholasville; one grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Chris Johns, Gary Wayne King, David King, William Griffin, Jr., Kendrick King, Kevin Griffin, Harold Mullins, Ronnie Griffin and Johnathon Griffin.
CLARENCE KURTZ
Clarence Alton Kurtz, 96, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 29, 1912 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Clarence Roland and Nora Ethel Voorhies Kurtz and was the widower of Nora Yeaste Kurtz.
He was a chief box maker at the Harrodsburg Bakery and was a farmer and businessman.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Hazel K. Sims, Margaret Frances Tumey, Naomi Ray Kurtz, Jesse Katherine Sims, Louise Carter, Ruth Evelyn Davis and two brothers, Alvin V. Kurtz and Harvey “Jeff” Kurtz.
The funeral was held Friday, March 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Crowe and Kit Yeaste officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Pelly, Connie Mink, Tom Cloud, Ed Yeaste, Ron Kurtz, Ken Kurtz, H.J. Sims and Wayne Reinsmith.
Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Jackson, David Baker, Daryl Catlett, Tom Vigneri, Lonnie Campbell, Fred Lawson, Bronson Yeast and Tommy Camden.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
MARGARET LANDERS
Margaret Dorsey Landers, 75, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at her residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1933, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Sallie Lou Dorsey and was the wife of Lucian J. Landers.
She was a 1951 Graduate of Perryville High School, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a member of the Harrodsburg Lion’s Club where she volunteered several years at The Legend of Daniel Boone outdoor drama and was a volunteer for the Mercer County Senior Citizens.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, Steven (Cathy) Landers of Harrodsburg and David (Kimberly) Landers of Arlington, TN; two daughters, Betty Lou Ingraham of Pleasantview, TN and Paula Landers Black of Harrodsburg; one brother, Donald Dorsey of Louisville; one sister, Juanita Dorsey Kraft of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Spring Hill Cemetery
with Bro. Lewis Walter officiating.
Pallbearers were Steven Landers, David Landers, Larry Poynter, Jr., Chad Landers, Lucian Ray Landers, and Benjamin Landers.
KEVIN LYNN
Kevin Thomas Lynn, 42, of Lancaster died Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Danville.
Born November 19, 1965 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Thomas Lynn and Barbara Cutter Riggs.
He was a member of Clearview Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Lisa Warren Lynn; two daughters, Kaitlin and Rachel Lynn, both at home; two sisters, Christina Gastineau, Hawesville and Angela Swift, Stanford; two brothers, Jody Adams, Stanford and Shane Lynn, Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Lora Wilson, Moreland; step-parents, Carlos and Roberta Riggs, Stanford and Jewell Lynn, Liberty; and his mother-in-law, Carol Warren, Danville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, at the Wilder Funeral Home, Perryville, officiated by Rev. Dan Johnson. Burial was in Chambers Cemetery.
Memorials suggested to the American Diabetes. Association.
OLLIE MILLER
Ollie Ann Miller, 92, of Danville, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at her residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1915 in Madison, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Roma Mae Price Miller and was the widow of Charles L. Miller.
She was a sales clerk, housewife and a member of the Harrodsburg church of Christ.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn (Tony) Mullins of Danville; one sister, Sibyl Barnes of Norwood, OH; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Miller and a brother, Ernest L. Miller.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Price Hill Cemetery
in Madison, WV.
A private visitation for family and church friends will be held Thursday at the Parks Funeral Home.

DENNIS MOODY
Dennis Sean Moody, 29, of Harrodsburg, died March 4, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling.
Born May 17, 1978 in Rowan County, he was the son of Gene Moody and Judy Moore Razor of Owingsville.
He was an employee at Hitachi Automotive and was a member of the First Church of God.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: his fiancé, Sarah Frazier of Lexington; one brother, Brandon Scott Moody of Harrodsburg; step mother, Marquetta Moody of Owingsville; grandfather, Gene D. Moody of Winchester and grandmother, Patricia Moody of Mt. Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Bennie Razor.
The funeral was held Friday March 7 at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Lowell Rice and Lyn Frazier officiating. Burial was in Oldfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Ingram, Trent Bailey, Bobby Jones, Shawn Stafford, Jamie Carpenter and Jay Stamm.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Hawkins, George Cononaugher, Ronnie Bailey, Gerald Ingram and Donnie Robinson.
RANDALL PROPES
Randall Lee Propes of Burgin died Wednesday March 5, 2008.
Born May 27, 1947, he was a son of the late Ernest "Boob" Propes and Mary Lizzie Propes.
Survivors include his wife, Molly Propes; a son, Randy Propes of Burgin; two daughters, Elizabeth Clark of Mercer County and Annette Bodner of Burgin; a grandchild, Christie Lamb of Berea; a great-grandchild, A. J. Lamb of Berea; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, at the Refreshing Ministries Church in Moreland by Chester Downs.
Burial was in Fair Cemetery
in Casey County.
MARNIE RECORD
Marjorie Wayne “Marnie” Rankin Record, 82, of Louisville, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at her home.
Born Jan. 23, 1926 at Morning Glory, she was the daughter of Edward Lawrence and Lucye Ross Rankin and was the wife of Vernon Record.
She was a retired high school English teacher, attended Georgetown College, was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, a member of John Marshall Chapter and Daughters of American Revolution, a member of Falls of the Ohio Chapter of Daughters of American Colonists, a former member of Beechmont Women’s Club, a member of Retired Teachers Association and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one sister-in-law, Edna Record Belew; one brother-in-law, Billy (Verna) Record and four cousins, Ann Paxton Caldwell, Francis Johnson, Joe Abner (Doris) Marsh and John Ross (Martha) Reno.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Lynne Rankin.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home in Cynthiana with Rev. Allen Finkbiner officiating. Interment in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Visitation 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Owen Funeral Home and 12 p.m. until time of service at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Vernon and Billy Record, Philip Simpson, Mike Brown, David Hartley and Craig Racster.
Owen Funeral Home and Ratterman Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
ALICE REED
Alice Kathleen Reed, 92, of Salvisa and formerly of Versailles, wife of the late James Earl Reed, died Monday March 3, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Healthcare Center.
Born in Woodford County May 31, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maude Conway.
Mrs. Reed is survived by: her son, Robert Reed of Salvisa; one brother, John Conway of Wilmore; four grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, March 7, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodford County with Rev Gary Black officiating.
Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of arrangements.
THELMA SHEWMAKER
Thelma Bishop Shewmaker, 99, of Mackville, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.
Born April 20, 1908 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie Goff Bishop and was the widow of Granville Shewmaker.
She was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, a graduate of Mackville High School and was a former supervisor at sewing factories in Lebanon and Burgin.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dolores “Dotty” (Mitchell) Burns of Mackville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Anderson; and two brothers, Tom Bishop and James Bishop.
The funeral was held Saturday, March 8 at the Mackville Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Stuart and Rev. Micah Carter officiating. Burial was in Peter Cemetery
at Mackville.
Pallbearers were Michael Burns, James Sears, Ashley Burns, Todd Wetzel, Jerod Sears and Kevin Russell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mackville Baptist Church or the Mackville Community Center.
