ARNOLD RILEY
Arnold Riley, 87, of Gravel Switch died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 in Lexington.
Born July 24, 1920 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Dave and Mattie Kimberlin Riley and was the widower of Madelle Reynolds Riley.
He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a Purple Heart recipient serving during World War II with the U.S. Army and was a retired self employed farmer and water hauler.
Survivors include: three daughters, Sue (Randy) Glasscock, of Perryville, Kathy (Steve) Goldsberry and Lisa (Tommy) Campbell, both of Harrodsburg; three sons, Robert (Aleene) Riley, Bertice Lee (Jeannie) Riley, both of Perrysville and Randall (Nancy) Riley of Danville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at the Wilder Funeral Home with Rev. John David Lane officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery
with military Rites by Battlefield Post 301.
Pallbearers were Dale, Jason and Scott Riley, Michael McHolan, Ethan Campbell, Jacob Sims, Ashley Gorley and Malcolm and Jarrett Peavler.
Honorary pallbearers were his great grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to be made to the Benjamin James Riley Educational Fund and the Jonie Wilder Scholarship Fund.
MELVA RILEY
Melva L. Riley, 87, of Burgin, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1920 in Boyle County, she was the daughte of the late Robert and Mimie Katherine Baker Munday and was the widow of Roy D. Riley.
She was a Homemaker, an active and faithful member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, the Widow to Widow Group and W.M.U.
Survivors include: two sons, Jackie Riley of Burgin and Cecil Riley of Harrodsburg; one sister, Ruby Milburn of Danville; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Riley and three brothers, Roy, Ralph, and Raymond Munday.
The funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Neal and Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy Lee Sanders, Douglas Sanders, Kenny Milburn, Ronnie Milburn, Pat Lear, and Carroll Price.
Honorary pallbearers were Carla Grider, Harold Hullette, Larry Sanders, Members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and employees of Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

WICKLIFFE ROGERS
Wickliffe Scott Rogers, Jr., 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 in Lexington.
Born Feb. 2, 1922 in Danville, he was the son of the late Wickliffe Scott and Christie Mable Jones Rogers and was the widower of Ruby Jo Rogers and Nancibel Williams Rogers.
He was a member and class president of the first graduating class at Lafayette High School and attended the University of Kentucky. During WWII served as a CAA flight instructor in North Dakota before returning to Lexington to operate a CAA Flight Training School. He owned a large farming operation in Garrard County and was a member of The Dairy Farmer’s Association, The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, and The Kentucky Holstein Association. He was one of the founders and, from 1970 to 1978, president of the Garrard Co. Water District. He was also a member of the Garrard County Hospital Board and Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, W. Scott (Jean Allen) Rogers III of Danville; one daughter, Donna Jo Rogers of Lexington; one step-daughter, Julie (Bill) Ballard of Louisville; four grandchildren and one step granddaughter.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Valentine and Rev. Bob Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to be made to The Heart of Kentucky United Way, The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society or the Gallilean Children’s Home.
JOHN ROYALTY
John William Royalty, age 86, of Danville, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born Saturday, March 5, 1921, in Forkland, he was a son of the late Roscoe F. and Maggie Lee Hardin Royalty.
Mr. Royalty retired in 1982 from the United States Postal Service, after having worked 25 years. He was also a farmer and a member of the Danville Church of Christ. He was a United States WWII Army Veteran and received a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wannetta Graham Royalty.
Survivors include: his wife, Naomi Lawrence Ellis Royalty; sons, Dale Alan (Cheri) Royalty of Houston, TX and Kent (Jennifer) Royalty of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; daughter, Karen (Terry) Ray of Somerset; step-sons, John Ellis of Boyle Co. and Greg Ellis of Bowling Green; brother, Hubert Royalty of Danville; sisters, Wilma Coffman of Danville, Laura Coyle of Nicholasville, and Juanita Bugg of Louisville; eight grandchildren, James and Eric Ray, both of Somerset, Graham Royalty of Dallas, TX, Austin, Samantha, and Barrett Royalty, all of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, and Emery and Winden Royalty, both of Houston, TX; brothers-in-law, Thomas Johnson of Danville and Marshall Graham of Nicholasville; sisters-in-law, Rosalyene Graham of Harrodsburg and Sylvia Royalty of Ooltewah, TN; seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, with Bros. Steve Wolfgang and Scott Vifquain officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery
with military funeral honors by American Legion Boyle Post #46
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
GWENDLYN SNOWDEN
Gwendlyn C. Snowden, 61, of 412 Marimon Avenue, Harrodsburg, wife of Darryl Snowden, died Monday, January 28, 2008.
She was born July 23, 1946 in Yakima, WA.
She was a homemaker and caregiver.
Survivors, other than her husband, include: two sons, David Eric Snowden of Danville, and Darryl Snowden, Jr. of Harrodsburg; a grandson, Gage Aiden Snowden.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
BILLY TUTTLE
Billy Wayne Tuttle, 45 of Paint Lick, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born in Madison County on November 6, 1962.
Mr. Tuttle was a truck driver and mechanic for Peco, a member of Glory Land Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Jackie Tuttle of Paint Lick; his sons, Jason Hardin Tuttle of Paint Lick and Brent Allen Anderson of Harrodsburg; his father, Bige Tuttle of Lexington; his mother, Ethel Tuttle Pigg of Paint Lick; brother, Timmy Tuttle of Paint Lick; sisters, Janet (Perry) Kerby of Paint Lick, Carol (Jeff) Carmon of McKenny and Donna (Randy) Moore of Berea.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 25, at the Davis and Powell Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial was in Manse Cemetery
at Paint Lick.
Pallbearers were Mike Shearer, Clayton Shepard, Jerome Isaac, George Winkler, Bill Lamb and Phillip Delaney.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Hardin Tuttle, Brent Anderson, Tonya Brooks, Savanna Moore, Justin Quinn, Amanda Kerby, Kassie Brock, Tammy Wolfinbarger and Marie Brown.
JACK BAKER
Jack Baker, 88, Lexington, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
He was born on April 16, 1919 in Miami, FL.
Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 4, at the Spring Hill Cemetery.
HELEN CASEY
Helen Mae Houp Casey, 66, died Monday, January 28, 2008.
Helen was born March 30, 1941 at High Bridge to the late Walter Cleveland and Alma Baker Houp.
She was a retired baker from Shakertown.
Survivors include: one son, James Casey Jr., three grandchilden, Shannon, Debra and Jamie, three great grandchildren, Destiny, Xavier and Rhanna-all of Florida, special niece, Susie Houp, sister, Grace Johnson-both of Wilmore, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Horton and a brother, James Thomas Houp.
Services were held. Friday, February 1, at the Betts & West Funeral Home, Nichilasville, with Leonard Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Wilmore Cemetery.
Bearers were James R. Johnson, Danny Fielder, Tommy Dunaway, Marty Baker, Ray and Craig Whitaker.
Honorary bearers were Bradley Houp, Bo Bolton, Hubert Waldrop, James Horton, Brad Houp Jr. and Chris Abner.
WILLIAM COX
William “Willie” Thomas Cox, 59, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born September 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Elbert Raymond “Tubby” Cox and Arlene Belle Gaines Phillips.
He was a former employee with Lawrenceburg Supply and attended Alton Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid wrestling fan.
He is survived by: four brothers, Hollis Ray Cox, Donnie B. Cox and Raymond Phillips, Jr., all of Lawrenceburg, and Hugh Phillips of Harrodsburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Ranzel Cox, and his step-father, Raymond F. Phillips.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 1, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Rick Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
HOLLIS ISHAM
Major (R) Hollis DeWayne “Wayne” Isham, 50, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 in Lexington.
Born April 8, 1957 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of C.H. and Barbara Jane Parson Isham and was the husband of Anjam Malik.
He was a retired Major for the US Army and assistant professor of military science at Morehead State University where he was named military Science Instructor of the Year and a member of the Eller’s Memorial Baptist Church. He had a very distinguished military career, from Platoon leader at Ft. Riley, KS; Theater Intelligence Watch Officer/Strategic Analyst at Camp Smith, HI; Brigade Intel Officer, Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer at Ft. Ord, CA; Combat Support Branch Chief and military Intelligence Systems Manager in Alexandria, VA; multiple positions with the Defense Intelligence Agency and Pentagon.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include an aunt, Peggy Lewis and a cousin, Robin Lewis, both of Harrodsburg.
The funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church with Travis Farris and Mark Thompson officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were ROTC Members.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Matherly, Ernie Sapp, Ralph Rogers Jr., William David Rogers, Jimmy Baxter, Danny Yates, Gill Spahn, Lonnie Campbell, Lucinda Leonard and Deidra Patton.

NONA MOBLEY
Nona F. Mobley, 85, widow of Willard Mobley, of Rockford, IL died Sunday, January 27, 2008, in Rosewood Care Center.
Born March 7, 1922, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Lonie and Mary Young Baker.
Survivors include: two daughters, Janet (Bill) Goodnite and June Watson; six grandchildren, Julie (Shawn Holmes) Watson, Jason Watson, Sara (Ed) Watterson, Ginger (John D) Baker, Scott (Denise) Goodnite and Daniel (Andrea) Goodnite; five great-grand-children, Cody and Kendra Arnold, Grace Watterson and Hannah Goodnite; one sister, Alma Coslow of Willisburg; three brothers, Ruel and Harvey Baker, both of Kentucky, and Maurice Baker of AZ.
She was predeceased by her husband, and one brother, Everett Baker.
A funeral service was held Friday, February 1, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park IL.
Entombment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
