MALLIE DENNY
Mallie Burkhart Denny, 70, of Burgin, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Feb. 6, 1937 in Letcher County, she was the daughter of the late James and Cora Day Burkhart and was the wife of Jimmy G. Denny.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: five daughters, Margaret (Michael) Franchere of Campbellsville, Barbara Jean (Leroy) Lyons of Harrodsburg, Cathy Jo Derringer of Harrodsburg, Robin (David) Bennett of Burgin, and Patricia Moberly of Lancaster; three sons, Carl Griffith of Crab Orchard, Tony Denny of Adairville, GA., and Jimmy (Christy) Denny, Jr. of Lancaster; one sister, Mackey McClemens of Lexington and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Harold Best officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Dexter East, Mike Franchere, Russell Denny, Tony Denny, Dustin Derringer, Daniel Derringer, Nellus Estes, Anthony Woodard, and Joe Denny.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Foundation for the Blind.
OLA GABHART
Ola Wood Gabhart, 87, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at her residence.
Born Aug. 14, 1920 in Campbellsville, she was the daughter of the late Berdette and Myrtle (Miles) Wood and was the wife of Chester Gabhart.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Teresa Wood (David) Noel of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Kathryn Wood (Ryan) Gardner of Louisville; one sister-in-law, Blondina Wood; and one nephew, Jeremy Wood.
She was preceded in death six brothers and sisters.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mike Estes and James Hahn officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Buddy Shirley, Jeremy Wood, Ryan Gardner, Duane Hall, Carroll Gritton, and Jack Freeman.
LAURA GARRISON
Laura Frances Sprake Garrison, 80, Dobbin Drive, Paris, retired City of Paris bookkeeper, wife of Chester W. Garrison, died Monday, November 12, 2007.
She was born March 6, 1927 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Justice Carl and Hallie Brown Baker.
She attended Paris High School, and was a member of the Paris Church of Christ for over 45 years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Sprake (David) Beck, Mercer County; one son, Chester "Woody" Garrison; four grandchildren, Lisa (James) Hahn, Shelby County, Tracy Willoughby, Bourbon County, Billy Ray (Chesley) Willoughby, Carlisle, Shawn Garrison, Paris; two sisters, Freida Preston, Lexington, Ruby Gilbert "Gail" Hawkins, TX; a stepdaughter; and a stepson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Sprake Willoughby.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at the Paris Church of Christ by Pastors Curtis Graves and George Rogers.
Casket bearers will be Robert Buckler, Anthony Dickson, James Hahn, David Beck, Sid Wells, and Mike Gresham.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Paris Church of Christ or Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 US 62E, Cynthiana, KY 41031.
EDWARD HENNINGER
Edward Lee Henninger, 76, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday Nov. 8, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1931 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Henninger and Ruth Dean Hardin.
He was a retired security guard for Moore Security Company and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: four sons, Larry (Jeanie) Henninger, Tommy (Terry) Henninger, Shaun Henninger and Chad (Sandra) Henninger all of Harrodsburg; four daughters, Linda Rutherford of Harrodsburg, Marilyn (Matt) Spaulding of Stanford, Rose Marie (Robert) Lyons and Betty (Tim) Sanders of Harrodsburg; one brother, Raymond (Lillie) Henninger of Danville; a life companion, Jewell Huffman Henninger of Harrodsburg; two step-sons, Don and Ronnie Huffman of Harrodsburg; seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be conducted by Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
HARRY MASON
Harry Lewis Mason, 81, of Danville, husband of Anna Casey Mason, died Monday November 12, 2007 at his residence.
Born August 24, 1926 in Tallassee, AL, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Burt Mason. He was veteran and a chef at North Point Training Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: three sons, Samuel Kyle (Joan) Mason of Westminster, MD, Harry Matthew (Henrietta) Mason of Salvisa, and Mark Lewis (Annette) Mason of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Dixie Ann (Mike) Yunt of Frankfort, Connie (Ben) Cooper of Parksville, and Vickie (Rob) Hunt of Richmond; a sister Mayolian Hamonds of Tallassee, AL, 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, at 2 p.m. at the Stith Funeral Home and Family Center in Junction City by Rev. Gary Story. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ben Cooper, Robert Hunt, Michael Yunt, Dustin Mason, Joshua Mason and Cody Cooper.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler cooper, James Hunt, Deven Mason and Steven Hunt.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Heritage Hospice.
BETTY NEIGHBORS
Betty Ann Neighbors, 72, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Jeffersonville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Naomi Fisher Armstrong and was the widow of Joe E. Neighbors.
Survivors include: three daughters, Shayne (Scott) Martin of Lawrenceburg, Tara Prather of Lexington and Denise (Dwain) Brannon of Lake Mary, FL; one brother, Dr. J.C. (Barbara) Armstrong of Edinboro, PA and five grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 12 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

JAMES PANKEY
James W. Pankey, 46, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born March 6, 1961 in Mercer County, he was the son of Alice (Roberts) and the late W. T. Pankey.
He was a supervisor at McKechnie Vehicle Components and a member of the Southside Christian Church.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: his fiancé, Kathy Perkins; one son, Chad Pankey of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Lauren Kays of Bardstown and one grandson, Logan Clayton.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jason Price and William Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are David Roberts, Jeff Price, Chris Horn, Patrick Horn, Steve Proctor, Billy Joe Clayton, Ronald Trayner and Chad Pankey.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
HARRY RAMSAY
Harry “Buddy” Garland Ramsay, Jr. of Wells Landing Road, Danville, husband of Randy Gayle Ramsay, died Monday November 12, 2007 at his residence.
Born March 10, 1949 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Harry Garland Ramsay, Sr. and Helen Baker Ramsay.
He was employed at Whirlpool/Matushita for 26 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: four children, Paula Jo Peele, Benjamin F. P. Ramsay, Harry Garland Ramsay, III, and Michael Lloyd Ramsay, all of Danville; three grandchildren, Merry Ann Carroll and Jeffery Tomas Ramsay, both of Danville, and Jessica Rayburn of Harrodsburg; a great-grandchild, Matthew Carroll of Junction City; a brother, John David Ramsay of Montgomery, AL; and a sister, Terry Russell of Danville.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 16, at 2 pm at Stith Funeral Home by Rev. Thomas Valentine. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 12-2 pm Friday at Stith Funeral Home.
JOE RANKIN
Joe Irvin Rankin, 81, of Lexington, died Sunday Nov. 11, 2007 at Central Baptist Hospital.
Born Aug. 12, 1926 in Danville, he was the son of the late Jonathan David and Mary Eliza Holtzclaw Rankin and was the husband of Martha Robertson Rankin.
He was a 1944 Graduate of Danville High School, a WWII Army Veteran and a University of Kentucky graduate. He was active in the Democratic party, the Kentucky Historical Society and was the owner of DSM, Inc. machinery shop in Lexington.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Ben Lee (Ida) Rankin of Salvisa; three daughters, Nina Rankin (Barry) Elmore and Annie Rankin (Russell) Denny, both of Salvisa and Nancy Jo Rankin of Louisville; two step-sons, Steve (Sandy) Tipton and Michael Tipton, both of Lexington; two step-daughters, Nancy Bobbitt (Whit Stokes) of Louisville and Dianna Massey of Atlanta, GA.; one brother, Paul Rankin of Danville; one sister, MaryAnn McCormack of Flemingsburg; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step-son Billy Tipton, his mother, Bobbye Jean Tipton Rankin and a brother, Tommy Rankin.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Sleeper officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry, David, Barry and Dan Rankin, Joe McCormack, Patsy Ekers, Mary Lou McCormack and Kay Riebel.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home.
The family requests donations be made to the Ragged Edge Theatre or West T. Hill Community Theatre.
ORENE SHEWMAKER
Orene Shewmaker, 91, of Lexington, formerly of Mackville, passed away at 9:53 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at Lexington Country Place in Lexington.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Katterheinrich, pastor of the Mackville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Peter Cemetery
at Mackville.
BESSIE TALIAFERRO
Bessie Rhea Taliaferro, 78, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at the Saint Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.
Born March 17, 1929 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late James Garnett and Laura May Tewmey and was the widow of Byron T. Compton & Robert J. Taliaferro,
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a former employee of Pinchback-Halloran Motors, Charme’ Ladies Fashion and Kentucky State Government.
Survivors include: two sons, Stephen T. (Deanie) Compton of Lexington and Richard L. (Mittie) Compton of Nashville, TN; one sister, Daisy (Nolan) Freeman of Cedar Key, FL; one brother, James L. (Flo) Tewmey of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery L. Compton, and a sister, Irma Case.
The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
