TERRY SMITH
Terry Lee Smith, 50, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, July 9, 2007.
Born Nov. 19, 1956 in Richmond, he was the son of Dortha “Dot” Case Phillips of Harrodsburg and the late Paul Jenson Smith.
He was a 1974 graduate of Danville High School, a graduate of Lexington Barber School and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a licensed barber and a member of Carriage House Players theater group in Lexington.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: one stepsister, Sherry (Tony) Bugg of Harrodsburg; one great-uncle, Garvis (Rosalee) Hutton of Lawrenceburg; and three cousins, Bob Roehm of Jeffersonville, IN, Sharon Milnes of Bourbonais, IL, and Patricia Manley of Safety Harbor, FL.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Roy Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 14 at 1 p.m. at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Jerry Lester officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday after 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
BOBBY WEST
Robert Allen “Bobby” West, 73, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Danville.
Born June 18, 1934 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Lucion Allen and Mary Ruth Henry West.
He was a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church. He attended the Danville City Schools and was a retired employee of Jerry’s Restaurant.
Survivors include: two sons, Robbie (Stephanie) West and Roger Harris; three sisters, Alice (Joe) White , Janice Sargent, Betty (Ed) Braun; three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony and Bill West; three sisters, Shirley West, Dorothy Burton and his twin, Bessie Alma West, and one brother, Jack West.
Services were held Tuesday, July 10 at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike White , Kyle Coulter, Bob Haney, and Larry and Sean Reardon.
BERTHA CLEMONS
Bertha Coyle Clemons, 83, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born in McKee, she was the daughter of the late Tilford and Cindy Coyle, and was the widow of Raymond Clemons.
Survivors include: four children, Russel Clemons, Darlene (Larry) Sims, Devaughn Clemons and Mark (Linda) Clemons, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Clemons.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris.
KENNETH COLE
Kenneth A. Cole, 85, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 27, 1921 in Bondville, he was the son of the late Grace Morris and Ernest Cole, and was the husband of Margaret Sharp Cole.
He was a farmer, a former employee of the Lawrenceburg Cemetery
and a salesman for the Stanford Monument Company. He was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church in Anderson County.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Nadine Cole of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Pearl (Tom) Leathers of Campbellsville, Pauline (James) Freeman of Lawrenceburg, Maxine Hahn of Bardstown and Imogene (Alvin) Drury of Lexington; three brothers, Franklin D. Cole and Rollin Morris (Jeanette) Cole, both of Lawrenceburg, and Jasper Elwood Cole of Newark, DE; one brother-in-law, Ed Broughten of Bardstown, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta Broughten and Rose Stratton, and two brothers, Jesse Allin Cole and Charles Thomas “C. T.” Cole.
Services were held Wednesday, July 18 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Bros. Mark Webb and Larry Camic officiating. Burial was in Kirkwood Cemetery
in Salvisa.

RALSTON HAMLIN
Ralston Lewis Hamlin, 81, died Saturday, July 14, 2007.
Born in Whitley City, he was the son of the late Milford and Sadie Mae Hamlin, and was the husband of Betty Roberts Hamlin.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Everhard Automation and V. R. Wesson and was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Felecia (Bob) Meadows of Harrodsburg, and Patricia (Richard) Smith and Vanessa (Mike) Sonnefeld, both of Orlando, FL; one sister, Connie Borden; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Margaret Hamlin; one daughter, Teresa Crouch, and two sisters, Joyce Blust and Ruby Mathews.
Services were held Wednesday, July 18 at the W.R. Milward Mortuary in Lexington with Revs. Tim Saylor and Ken Gayhart officiating. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
MARY IRVINE
Mary Louise Squifflet Irvine, 83, of Danville, died July 16, 2007, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 23, 1924, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Adolphus and Edna Dailey Ison Squifflet and the widow of William Caldwell Irvine.
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and Stephens College, Columbia, MO, a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ann Irvine (Kyle) Flynn of Atlanta, GA; and two grandsons, William K. Flynn of Hong Kong, and Asa T. Flynn of Atlanta, GA.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in Bellevue Cemetery
with Rev. James Stewart officiating.
Memorials are requested to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
IRENE LAWSON
Irene Lawson, 81, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 30, 1925 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Bessie Moran Wilson, and was the wife of Curtis Ray Lawson.
She worked most of her life as a short order cook for several local restaurants.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Joyce Coleman of Harrodsburg and Carla Lawson of Colorado; one sister, Lorene Vaughn of Richmond; two brothers, Ancil Wilson of Liberty and Jesse Carlos Wilson of Lee County; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Cleo Wilson, and two sisters, Inez Warner and Exie Combs.
Services will be held Thursday, July 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Coleman, Robert Coleman, Curtis Coleman, Donald Neal, Michael Allen Coleman and Jeremy McAninch.
Visitation at the funeral chapel Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service.
JEWELL LESTER
Jewell Milburn Lester, 90, of McDowell Place, passed away Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sunday, June 10, 1917, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley Oscar and Josie Key Milburn. She was the widow of the late Edward Lester.
She had previously worked at Corning Glass and Hogsett Elementary. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and Lancaster Road Homemakers Club.
Survivors include: two sons, Russell (Margaret) Lester of Harrodsburg and J. L. (Mildred) Lester of Villages, FL; one daughter, Anna (Marvin) Carpenter of Danville; one brother, Eugene Milburn of Harrodsburg; one sister, Katherine Lowe of Danville; eight grandchildren, Marlene Horton of Concord, NC, Ed Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, and Scott Lester, all of Danville, Vickie Langford of Villages, FL, Renee Webb of Perryville, Dale Lester of Harrodsburg, and Gloria Browning of Lexington; six step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Bro. Kevin Hampton, Bro. Steve James, and Bro Clyde Strunk officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery
in Perryville.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were the Open Door Sunday School Class, McDowell Place staff and Lancaster Road Homemakers.

CLYDE MAJOR
Clyde Edward Major, 82, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at his home.
Born Aug. 11, 1924 in High Bridge, he was the son of the late Willie Edward and Rena Hicks Major, and was the husband of Elsie Evelyn Buckley Major.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Kentucky Colonel, and was a retired Kentucky Utilities accountant. He served two terms as a Mercer County magistrate and authored “Family History: High Bridge and Kentucky River Area.” He was a member of the Shakertown Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and usher and formerly served as Sunday school superintendent, treasurer and trustee.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Renee (James) Reed of Harrodsburg; two sons, Thomas Ledford (Ima) Major of Maysville and Jackie Wayne (Penny) Major of Harrodsburg; one stepson, Dr. Allen Keith Lanham of Charleston, IL; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Jane (Roger) Rives of Mattoon, IL, and Jennifer (Glenn) Belt of Newburg, IN; 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Floretta Savage Major, and two grandchildren, Sabrina and Katrina Reed.
Services were held Wednesday, July 18 at the Shakertown Baptist Church with Joe Smith and Derek Baker officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Reed, T. C. Major, Robert Major, Mark Major, Bennie Lane, Gary Fraley and Nick Reed.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, step-grandchildren and deacons and members of the adult Sunday school class and of the Shakertown Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shakertown Baptist Church or to Heritage Hospice.
DAVID MUDD SR.
David M. Mudd Sr., 71, of Lexington, died Tuesday July 10, 2007 at his home.
Born Oct. 6, 1935 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Gerald Mudd and Mary Helen Jenkins Mudd, and was the husband Cora Ritchey Mudd.
He was a retired electrician, a member of Bass Masters and Channel 3 Skippers Club, and was a member of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Karen L. McGaughey, Julie A. Decker and Stacey L. Mudd; one son, David M. (Andrea) Mudd II; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one cousin.
A funeral Mass was held Thursday, July 12 at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary with the Rev. Joe Muench officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Long II, Kent and Tim Mudd, Scott McKenney, Mack Freeman and Bill Chowing.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Atkins, Ron Smith and Sonny Ritchey.
