Dorothy F. Newkirk, 86, of Spring Street, London, Kentucky, formerly from Thorntown, Indiana, died Sunday, August 4, 2002, at her residence in London.
Born December 31, 1915, in Thorntown, Indiana, she spent most of her youth in the Thorntown area, graduating from Thorntown High School and working as a factory worker in the Lebanon, Indiana, area. She was a member of the Thorntown Baptist Church and her hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles, flowers and sewing.
Her husband, John Allen Newkirk, whom she married in 1936, preceded her in death in 1946. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Miller and Carl Ford; a brother, Charles R. Ford; and twin sisters, Marge Peterson and Maggie Marguerite Bonke.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bailey and husband Ronald of London, Kentucky, and Peggy Bushman and husband Joe of London, Kentucky; a son, Harold R. Newkirk of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at the Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 223 North Meridian Street, Lebanon, Indiana, with the Rev. Raymond Duff officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oakhill Cemetery
in Lebanon, Indiana.

Camilla Arlene Terrell, 78, of Corbin, Kentucky, died Monday, August 5, 2002, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Ada and James Campbell, and was preceded in death by her husband, Luster Terrell.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 8, at the Calvary Baptist Church, with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at the Corbin Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Road, London, Kentucky, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Ethel and Boyd Thompson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 1, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the McDaniel Cemetery.
Lella Williams Beckner

Lella Williams Beckner, 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Laurel County, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at her place of residence.
Mrs. Beckner was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, May 10, 1918, to the Rev. Morgan and Nannie Williams. She was married to Walton Beckner on December 9, 1938.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, three infant brothers, another brother, Denver Williams, and two sisters, Flora Kidd and Zuma Barnard.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Thomas Beckner and wife, Beverly, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two daughters, Mona Rash and husband, Bob, of Trenton, Ohio, and Sue Hamblin and husband, Harold, of Okeana, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jenny Bullock, Hamilton, Ohio, Julia Hopkins, Trenton, Ohio, Larry and Garry Hamblin, both of Hamilton, Ohio, and Monica Nold, of Indiana. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include six sisters, Pearl Parsley, Dalton, Georgia, Etsey Simmons and Lois Cloyd, both of Georgetown, Kentucky, Bertie Overbey and Zula Herrin, both of Hamilton, Ohio, Jan Sparkman of London, Kentucky, and a brother, George Williams, of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Mrs. Beckner was a member of the Church of Christ in Fairfield, Ohio, where services will be held Monday, December 2, at 10 a.m.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Avance Funeral Home in Fairfield, Ohio.

Carl Bowling, 55, of Route 1, Manchester, Kentucky, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecil Bowling.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 25, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Walnut Hill Cemetery
in Annville, Kentucky.
Orie Browning
Keavy, Kentucky

Orie Browning, 104 years of age, of Keavy, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 6, 2002, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He had been a preacher for 75 years. He was a member of the Keavy Church of Christ, where he preached and was an elder for many years.
His wife of 73 1/2 years, Polly J. (Baker) Browning, preceded him in death.
His survivors include his three daughters, Edith Storm of Keavy, Kentucky, Helen Forester of Harlan, Kentucky, and Julie Robinson of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, James Browning of Cullman, Alabama, and Bill Browning of Keavy, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Browning of Harlan, Kentucky; other family members and numerous friends and acquaintances.
Bro. Browning was one of the most respected, well-liked men in the Tri-County area. He will be greatly missed by many people.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, at the Keavy Church of Christ with Bro. Halli Burton Greer of Hazard, Kentucky, Bro. Bill R. Browning of Carmel, Indiana, and Bro. Bob Forester of Harlan, Kentucky, officiating.
Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery
under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home of Corbin.
Luther Richard Bruner
Keavy, Kentucky

Luther Richard “Luke” Bruner, 64, of Keavy, Kentucky, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at his home. He was the son of the late Helen and Binder Bruner; was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly (Coyle) Bruner, and is survived by his wife, Alma (Henderlight) Bruner of Keavy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 30, at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Locust Grove Cemetery
at Keavy.

Estill R. Chadwell, 86, of West 12th Street, London, Kentucky, died Saturday, December 7, 2002, at the Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly in London.
Born September 25, 1916, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a former resident of Chadwell Drive in Rolling Acres Subdivision, a former co-owner of Chadwell’s Restaurant, London Inn Restaurant, and Quality Inn Restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, and a member of the First Baptist Church of London.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida (Rudder) Chadwell and Evan C. Chadwell.
Mr. Chadwell is survived by his wife, Leora (Burnett) Chadwell of London, Kentucky; a brother, Jay Chadwell of London, Kentucky; a sister, Thelma Parker of Westland, Michigan; three nieces, Shirley Chesnut and Tammy Herron, both of London, Kentucky, and Susan Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a nephew, Danny Wheeler and Joyce Sandor of Westland, Michigan.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Lester officiating.
Burial followed in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park at London.
