Kenneth Roy Morgan, 54, of Storms Road, Keavy, Kentucky, died Monday, January 7, 2002, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky.
Born December 14, 1947, in Laurel County, he was caretaker for the London Country Club and a believer in the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Morgan.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Alene (Brock) Ball, and step-father, Rex Ball, of Keavy, Ky.; his wife, Betty (Ball) Morgan of Keavy, Ky.; two daughters, Wilma Radford and husband Bobby of East Bernstadt, Ky., and Carol Lawson and husband Gary of London, Ky.; five grandchildren, Brad Lawson, Dusty Lawson, Bobby Radford, Kendra Radford and Natalie Hodge; three sisters, Linda Watts of Franklin, Ohio, Annette Hodge of London, Ky., and Janet Weaver of London, Ky.; and a brother, Everett Morgan of Keavy, Ky.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, at the London Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Hedrick, Norman Brock, Lonnie Marcum and Darrell Hodge officiating.
Burial followed in the Ball-McQueen Cemetery
at East Bernstadt.
Pallbearers were Tim Ball, Roy Ball, Chris Ball, Robert Campbell, Darrell Hodge Jr., Johnny D. Morgan, Wayne Messer, David Messer and Tim Watts.

Harley Young, 87, of North Highway 1223, Corbin, Kentucky, died Friday, January 4, 2002, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was the son of the late Sally (Smith) and W.S. Young.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 8, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Simpson Cemetery
at East Bernstadt, Kentucky.

Lowell W. Cheek, 79, of South Whitman Road, Connersville, Indiana, a native of London, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 5, 2002, at the Lincoln Centers-West in Connersville. He was the son of the late Alice L. (Jones) and Charles C. Cheek, and is survived by his wife, Cleo (Deaton) Cheek.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, at the Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home’s Myers Chapel in Connersville, with burial following in the Dale Cemetery
with military graveside services.
James Michael Thomas
James Michael Thomas, 47, of Lackey, Kentucky, formerly of Corbin, Kentucky, died Sunday, January 6, 2002, at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Lackey. He was the son of the late James Thomas and is survived by his mother, Mildred (Claxton) Thomas Matlock of Corbin, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Underwood Cemetery
in Whitley County, Kentucky.
Lewis Wilbur King

Lewis Wilbur King, 81, of South Main Street, London, Kentucky, died Friday, January 4, 2002, at his residence.
Born May 3, 1920, in Dresden, Ohio, he was a carpenter for American Greetings Co., a veteran of the United States Army, and member of the Swiss Colony Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude King and Wilbur King.
Survivors include his wife, Jean King of London, Ky.; two daughters, Lynda King Heath and husband James of Somerset, Ky., and Sandra King Burns and husband Raymond of London, Ky.; a son, David W. King and wife Linda of London, Ky.; two sisters, Kathleen Moore of Frazeyburg, Ohio, and Mildred Shores of Zaneville, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Raymond Burns Jr. and wife Emily, Justin Burns, Joseph Dungan, Jason King, Jonathan King, and Jennifer Matzek and husband Jason.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 7, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Jervis and the Rev. Greg Deaton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Binder, Carl Keller, Alfred Keller, Ernest Miller, Mike Binder, Paul Dick and Ed Sweet. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Swiss Colony Baptist Church Sunday School class.

Robert “R.C.” Lewis, 82, of Douglas Lane, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, January 6, 2002, at his residence.
Born January 2, 1920, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was a coal miner and member of the East Pittsburg Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Sibert) Lewis and Bates Lewis; a daughter, Linda Lewis; and two sons, Lloyd Lewis and Leslie Reed.
Survivors include six sons, Don Lewis of Sandusky, Ohio, David Lewis of Manchester, Ky., Tommy Lewis of Vickery, Ohio, Wayne Lewis of Castalia, Ohio, Bill Lewis of Grayton, Ohio, and Arnold Lewis of East Bernstadt, Ky.; four daughters, Judy Reed of East Bernstadt, Ky., Marilyn Townsend of Bellevue, Ohio, Annette Bell of Vickery, Ohio, and Sandra Townsend of East Bernstadt, Ky.; a brother, Arnold Lewis of Muncie, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, at the London Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Lewis and the Rev. James Allen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Andes Cemetery
at East Bernstadt.

Steve Begley

Steve Begley, 71, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 5, 2002, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born April 17, 1930, in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, he was a self-employed businessman, a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Circle of Faith Pentecostal Church, the Masonic Lodge #961, Chapter 11 of the Eastern Star, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Ward) Begley and Jess Begley; and a brother, Jack Denver Begley.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Sue (Peace) Begley of East Bernstadt, Ky.; five nephews, Mark A. Begley of East Bernstadt, Ky., Jonathan E. Begley of East Bernstadt, Ky., Shane J. Begley of Palmyra, Va., Jess Denver Begley of Keavy, Ky., and James R. Begley of London, Ky.; four nieces, Jackie L. Cox of London, Ky., Jeanie Cochrane of London, Ky., Ruthetta Daughtery of Goose Creek, S.C., and Pamela Brewer of Jamestown, Ohio; two brothers, Ralph Marshal Begley of East Bernstadt, Ky., and Jesse Ward Begley of Sanford, Fla.; a sister, Helen Rebecca Begley of East Bernstadt, Ky.; 8 great-nephews; and 10 great-nieces.
Masonic Rites were conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, at the London Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the C.D. Ward Cemetery
