Rev. William Maury Huie

The Rev. Dr. William Maury Huie, 80, of Rockville, Maryland, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Born June 12, 1921, in Newbern, Tennessee, he was a minister and had pastored at First Christian Church in London, Kentucky; First Christian Church in Corbin, Kentucky; First Christian Church in Clearwater, Florida; First Christian Church in Humboldt, Tennessee; First Christian Church in Greensburg, Pennsylvania ; and Rockville Christian Church in Rockville, Maryland.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club, Washington , D.C. Masonic Lodge #1, and the Eastern Star, and was one of the founders of The Scott Rose Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nell (Campbell) Huie and Maury Adolfhus Huie; his first wife, Iris (Lathbury) Huie, who died on April 24, 1988; and two brothers, Ed Huie and Joe Huie.
Survivors include his wife, Ina G. Huie of Rockville, Md.; a son, William M. Huie II of Morehead, Ky.; a daughter, Iris Rebecca Cornelius of North Haven, Conn.; four grandchildren, Beth, Kathryn, Heather and Jay; and one great-grandson, Taylor Hatley.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001, at the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home, 808 Old Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, with Dr. John Wesley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday, August 6, at the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home.

Melvin Arlis Smith, 64, of Gray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at the Marymount Medical Center in London, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Edna (Steely) and Arnold Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday, August 3, at the funeral home.

Pearlie Mae Tucker, 58, of Taylor Subdivision, London, Kentucky, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Icie Day and Bige Asher.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Simpson Cemetery
at East Bernstadt.

Jack Carr Carson, 81, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Laurel Creek Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Agnes (Baxter) and Steve Carr.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 1, at the Million Cemetery
at Bond, Kentucky.

Adna Lewis Combs, 78, of Pawnee Trail, London, Kentucky, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Margaret and James Sizemore, and is survived by her husband, Leslie Combs of London, Ky.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Manchester Memorial Cemetery
at Manchester, Kentucky.
Clarence Cupp

Clarence Cupp, 81, of Rough Creek Road, London, Kentucky, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born January 2, 1920, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was a farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, and member of the Rough Creek United Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisey (Walden) Cupp and Harry Cupp; six brothers, Dan Cupp, Ben Cupp, Earl Cupp, Leander Cupp, Robert Cupp and Walter Cupp; and a sister, Ida Webb.
Survivors include his wife, Alice M. (McFadden) Cupp of London, Ky.; two sons, Jack Cupp and Gary Cupp, both of London, Ky.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 1, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denvis Rush officiating.
Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery.
Kathleen Barton

Kathleen Barton, 83, of Corbin, Kentucky, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at her residence.
Born February 28, 1918, at Ogden, Utah, she was a homemaker, a member of the Central Baptist Church, AARP, and was a Kentucky Colonel and a Corbin Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Axie (Coleman) Sasser and Emory Sasser; and her husband, Glenn Carl Barton, on April 13, 1970.
Survivors include a son, Glenn Carl Barton Jr., of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Emogene Poynter of Corbin, Ky., and Dr. Jane Weddington of Shelbyville, Tenn.; a brother, Robert H. Coleman of Bristol, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Green and the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery
at Faber.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Skeen, Allen Onkst, Bill Onkst, Jim Masters, Jim Washburn, Ivan Bunch, Charles Richmond, Ernie Weddington, and Brian Barton.

Mrs. Jane S. Hill, 78, of Somerset Village, Somerset, Kentucky, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. She was the daughter of the late Sallie (Williams) and Bill C. Kerby Smith, and was preceded in death by her husband, Russell M. Hill.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, at the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company, with burial following in the Burkesville Cemetery
at Burkesville, Kentucky.

Ann Hensley Trelegan, 54, of New Salem Road, London, Kentucky, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, in Sikeston, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Hensley, and is survived by her mother, Vernie (Baker) Hensley, and husband, Peter Trelegan, both of London, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
