Bertha Hickman Perkins, 64, of Highland Heights, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a self-employed demonstrator.
Survivors include her hus band Gerald Perkins; daughters, Jocelyn Couch of Melbourne and Sandy Eaten of Grants Lick; a stepson, Randy Perkins of Cold Spring; stepdaughters, Marsha Reinzen of Florence, Melodie Stephens of Garden Grove, Fla., and Jerri Perkins of Brown County, Ohio; a sister, Thelma Massingale of Ft. Thomas; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexandria Cemetery.

Mary Louise Schmitz, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday at Highlands of Ft. Thomas. She was a secretary and a member of St. Therese Church and its Altar Society. She also was a member of the Covington Art Club.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Minnie Lois Stewart, 61, of Falmouth, died Monday at her home. She was the retired owner of Stewart's Ambulance Service, Falmouth, and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Butler. Her husband, Frank Stewart, died in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Newkirk of Falmouth; sons, David Earl England, Mark England and Frank Patrick Stewart, all of Falmouth; a stepdaughter, Janice Wiggins of Falmouth; her parents, Alvah and Louella Johnson Moorhead of Brooksville; brothers, Bobby Moorhead and Ronnie Moorhead, both of Brooksville, and Tommy Moorhead of Germantown; sisters, Bertha Jones of Brooksville and Wilma Williams of Falmouth; and eight grandchildren.
Services were today at Falmouth Wesleyan Church. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Pendleton County. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is handling arrangements.

JoAnn Strange, 56, of Falmouth, died Wednesday in a single-car accident on U.S. 27 south of Falmouth.

Myrtle Blaker Wilson, 89, of Hebron, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired secretary with the Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She also was a Sunday school teacher at Hebron Baptist and Sand Run Baptist churches. Her husband, Howard Watson Wilson, died in 1995.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sand Run Baptist Cemetery, Hebron. Memorials ae suggested to the churches.

Joseph Bezold, farmer, former Brossart custodian
Joseph Bezold believed in the American tradition that good, hard work is good for the soul.
"He was a hard worker," said a grandson, Tony St. John of California. "He worked hard all his life."
Mr. Bezold, 80, of California, a retired farmer, died Thursday at his home.
He was a former custodian at Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, where he worked for 23 years, and former owner of Bezold Seed store in Newport.
He also worked at American Tool in Cincinnati and at Covington Protestant Children's Home.
"We raised tobacco, cattle, chickens and hay," said St. John.
"I liked to farm with him. I liked being around him. He taught me everything I know."
Mr. Bezold was a member of Campbell County VFW Post 3205 in Alexandria. He was a former member of Catholic Order of Foresters Court 1492 in California, a former member of the board of directors and a vice president at Campbell County Insurance.
Mr. Bezold also was a veteran of the Army.
His wife of 52 years, Alma Bezold, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita St. John of California; a brother, J. William Bezold of Butler; sisters, Lenora Krift of Alexandria and Stella Kremer of Ft. Thomas; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Church, California.
Visitation will be there from 3 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday.

Thomas P. Burger, 48, of Stuart, Fla., formerly of Erlanger, died Friday at Martin Memorial Hospital, Port Salerno, Fla., after a long illness.
He was an employee of Terminix, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and a former salesman for Cincinnati Steel and Service Steel, both in Cincinnati. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stuart.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra L. Burger; a daughter, Tammy M. Beard of Erlanger; a son, Donald J. MacCallum III of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and brothers, Edward Burger and Jimmy Burger, both of Erlanger.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Young & Prill Funeral Home, Stuart, Fla. Visitation will be there from 10 a.m. to time of services Tuesday.

Oren Eugene Ecklar, 79, of Covington, died at 10 p.m. Thursday at St. John's nursing home, Covington. He was a member of Benson United Church, Kelat. He was a farmer.
Survivors include a sister, Emogene Clinkenbeard of Florence.

Leonard George Gunkel, 76, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
He was a retired electrical technician. He was a member of Council No. 5220 Knights of Columbus. He was a disabled Army veteran who served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Massey Gunkel; sons, Ken Gunkel of Logan, Ind., and Keith Gunkel of Butler; a sister, Mildred Weyer of Highland Heights; and five grandchildren.

Henry A. Hagedorn, 71, of Elsmere, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a brewery worker for Wiedemann Brewing Co. He was a member of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423 in Elsmere.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Riddle Hagedorn; sons, Tony Hagedorn of Richwood, Bryan Hagedorn of Union and Eric Hagedorn of North Richland Hills, Texas ; a stepson, James Riddle of Bellevue; daughters, Jessica Mastronardo of Burlington, Victoria Haley of Ryland Heights, Kathryn Harvey of Florence and Maria Sesher of Union; stepdaughters, Portia Leftin of Ft. Mitchell, Brenda Hamilton of Erlanger and Karen Bryant of Verona; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Judy M. Jones, 63, of Elsmere, died at 2:42 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a retired assembly-line worker for Equitable Bag Co., Florence and a member of Latonia Christian Church.
Her husband, Otis Jones, died in 1991. Survivors include a brother, Robert Napier of Elsmere; and sisters, Daisy Wolfe of Alexandria and Alberta Miller of Kentucky.
