She came to the United States with her parents from Scotland when she was 3. The family settled in Long Island, N.Y., and then moved outside of Philadelphia, where her father managed a stable for fox hunters.
There, Mrs. Cimellaro took a job cooking and cleaning at the mansion of Esther I. Dupont and her husband, Sir John Thouron, a British knight. Mrs. Cimellaro's husband, whom she later divorced, cared for Ms. Dupont's horses.

"She looked at it as an honor to work for (Thouron)."

In 1991, John Cimellaro took a job as a pilot for Comair, and the family moved to Northern Kentucky. Mrs. Cimellaro helped care for her two grandchildren.
Around the same time, Mrs. Cimellaro was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She moved to Carmel Manor last year.
"She was a kind, considerate person," her son said. "She didn't have a lot, but she shared what she had."
