Ruth R. Furnish, 87, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Congregational Church, Covington. She was a member of the church choir and Rosebud Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Covington. Her husband, Louis Furnish, died in 1979.
Survivors include two nephews.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Anna Mae Darnell Geiman, 75, of Newport, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Her husband, Andrew Geiman, died in 1977.
Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Emerson of Union Township, Ohio, Sylvia Lonneman of Delhi, Ohio, JoAnn Bradhold of Erlanger, June Geiman-Stephenson of Ft. Mitchell and Judy "Heidi" Thiem of Cold Spring; sons, Jim Geiman and Ken Geiman, both of Cold Spring, Tim Geiman of Independence and Keith Geiman of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Dorothy Walsh of Ft. Thomas; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

Vernon Michael Haigis, 46, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a coordinator with Buschman Conveyor Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Londa Duvall of Covington; his mother, Gladys Veal of Newport; sisters, Marilyn Campbell and Carolyn Kearns, both of Newport; brothers, Dennis Haigis, Thomas Haigis and David Haigis, all of Newport and Donald Haigis of West Chester, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Juanita Golden James, 70, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired factory worker with Plastic and Molding Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, Jerry James of Livermore, Calif., and Robert James of Salisbury, N.C.; a daughter, Linda Gayle Brooks of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Jesse Gatliff of Cleves, Ohio; sisters, Nora Lankford of Latonia, Gladys Curtis of Lexington, Ida Cundiff of Harlan and Elizabeth Messer of Hampton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Elnora H. Maheras, 83, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Nicholas Maheras, died in 1981.

Arthur T. "Tee" Poetter, 78, of Covington, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired self-employed floor contractor and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Kenton County. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille E. Mardis Poetter; daughters, Beverly Hopkins of Florence, Candy Lytle of Taylor Mill and Sandy Leen of Independence; a brother, Chester Poetter of Florence; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gerald V. Weigle, 80, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ft. Thomas, died Friday at Dupree Community in Cincinnati. He was a retired senior vice president of First National Bank of Cincinnati and an attorney. He was a member of American Bankers Association, where he served on the Executive Committee. He was Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Salvation Army and an overseer of Thomas More College. He was active in United Appeal fund-raising and the Cincinnati Rotary Club. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Weigle; and sons, Gerald V. Weigle Jr. and Douglas S. Weigle, both of Cincinnati.

Everett Craven Jr., taught children love for baseball
Everett Joseph Craven Jr. was a quiet leader who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Craven spent two years in the Army after the Korean War and was a tank commander. He later became a buyer with Kruse Wholesale Hardware Co. in Cincinnati and was an avid baseball and softball player.
He passed his love of America's pastime to his children and grandchildren, said his wife of 42 years, Sue Craven.
"He was well-liked by the people he worked with," Mrs. Craven said. "He liked to follow sports on television and play with the grandkids."
Mr. Craven, 65, of Latonia, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
He was a retired buyer with Kruse Wholesale Hardware Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.
Mr. Craven grew up in Covington. He met his wife after she saw him pitching and playing the outfield for a church league team.
"He was a good player. Baseball was his sport and he taught all the boys to play baseball," according to Mrs. Craven.
"He was very quiet, but he would come up with a few funny remarks."
Other survivors include his sons, Tim Craven of Ryland Heights, Dennis Craven of Prospect, Evey Craven of Latonia and Michael Craven of Atlanta; daughters, Connie Riesenbeck of Crescent Springs, Julie Henry of Atlanta, Chrissie Craven White of St. Louis and Kathy Fessler of Taylor Mill; a brother, Richard Craven of Edgewood; sisters, Ginny Roach of Okeechobee, Fla., Marilyn Mattingly of Covington and Arlene Conner of Walton; and eight grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright.

Jerry Arens Sr., 56, of Cincinnati, formerly of Dayton, died Monday at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a tax examiner with the U.S. Department of Treasury, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Northside Council 1683, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Waldo Arens; sons, Ben Arens and Ed Arens, both of Cincinnati, Jerry Arens Jr. of Greenhills, Ohio, and Tim Arens of Dayton; his mother, Dorothy Schlueter Arens of Dayton; a brother, Thomas L. Arens of Dayton; and four grandchildren.
