Harry Hitch, 87, of Warsaw, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw. He was a retired truck driver with the Anderson Trucking Co. and a member of Erlanger Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hitch of Covington; and a son, Eddie Hitch of Park Hills.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Amos F. Lawson Sr., 89, of Brookville, Ind., formerly of Walton, died Friday at Elsie Dreyer Special Services Center in Brookville, Ind. He was a retired equipment operator and foreman with the Kentucky Highway Department, and was a member of Independence Baptist Church. His wife, Mary Verna Johnson Lawson, died in 1990.
Survivors include sons, Amos Lawson Jr. of Walton and Walter H. Lawson of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Laura Johnting of Falmouth, Margaret Straub of Walton, Anna Mae Gonsauyle of Demossville and Geneva Shumaker of Cold Spring; brothers, Archie Lawson of Falmouth, Carl Lawson of Latonia and Russell Haley of Dry Ridge; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Wilson Lebus, 84, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. He was a retired farmer, a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church and Harrison County Farm Bureau. His wife, Virginia Pierce Lebus, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Anna Ruth McLoney of Cynthiana, Mary LaVerne Boston of Paoli, Ind., June Wilson Erla of Dorset, Vt., and Virginia Jo Becher of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Rachford, 76, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. She was a retired medical records clerk with St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, and attended Asbury Methodist Church in Highland Heights and St. John United Church of Christ in Newport.
Her husband, William Rachford, died Dec. 2. Angela Rayburn, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Irene Shadwick, 92, of Fort Wright, died at 6 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Care Center in Fort Wright. She was a member of Bromley Christian Church. Her husband, Arthur Shadwick, died in 1976.

Jarvie Thompson, 70, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired steelworker with Newport Steel, a member of Lawler-Hanlon VFW Post No. 5662 in Newport, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Thompson; a daughter, Valtina Rotolo of Florida; his stepmother, Anna Lee Thompson of Florida; and a half-sister, Joanne McDonald of Kettering, Ohio.

George Yotz Van Pelt, 70, of Fort Wright, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired auditor with PNC Bank in Cincinnati, a former member of Ludlow Vets, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Phelps Van Pelt; daughters, Teri Schlotman and Tami Garriott, both of Villa Hills, Shauna Bomkamp of Taylor Mill; a sister, Patricia Krebs of Ludlow; and four grandchildren.

Philip Durcan, "always helping others'
When something needed to be done for his family, or in his neighborhood, Philip A. Durcan went ahead and did it.
'He was always helping others. He just couldn't say no to anybody,' said his wife, Lucile Durcan.
Mr. Durcan, 82, of Ludlow, died Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
'He watched the neighbors' houses when they were gone, and when he saw that somebody's grass needed to be cut, or their snow shoveled, he just did it on his own,' said Mrs. Durcan.
Mr. Durcan not only worked hard to help put his three daughters through nursing school, but he also looked after their children, Mrs. Durcan said. 'He baby-sat with the grandchildren from the time they were born,' she said.
Mr. Durcan worked for a number of years with the Trailmobile Co., and when it closed he became an assembler with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati. He was retired from that job.
To help with his daughters' education and other expenses, Mr. Durcan worked part-time for many years at the Standard Service Station at Fifth and Main streets in Covington, his wife said.
'He worked there for many, many years, for my dad,' said Richard 'Butch' Ostendorf. 'He worked for us maybe 20 years and we were great friends. He was a swell fellow and got along with everybody,' said Ostendorf.
Mr. Durcan liked to hunt, and sometimes hunted with Ostendorf. 'He loved to hunt and looked forward to it every fall,' said Mrs. Durcan.
Mr. Durcan was an Army veteran of World War II. He was in the military police in New Jersey, his wife said.
He was also a member of St. Agnes Church in Fort Wright, the St. Agnes Holy Name Society and United Auto Workers Union Local No. 863, Cincinnati.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters, Debbie Highhouse of Villa Hills, Phylis Deitz of Fort Mitchell and Donna Crowley of Decatur, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Audrey Robinson Bennett, 81, of Huntsville, Ala., formerly of Ludlow, died Saturday at Huntsville Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship and Hospitality Club of Huntsville. She was active in the American Red Cross, and was a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include daughters, Candy Warden and Jill B. Hall, both of Huntsville, and Denise Martin of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Earl Benton Robinson of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Henry Church in Elsmere and Erlanger-Elsmere Senior Citizens. Her husband, Vincent C. Brunen, died in 1989. A daughter, Barbara Brunen, also preceded her in death.

Jack F. Case, 70, of Cincinnati, formerly of Latonia, died at 3 a.m. Friday at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a retired employee of Coca-Cola Co., Cincinnati, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 109 F&AM and Teamsters Local No. 100, Cincinnati. He was a charter member of the Latonia Youth Club, a former youth baseball coach, and a veteran of World War II. His wife, Eula Case, died in 1996.
