George "Tip" Richardson, 73, of Taylor Mill, died Tuesday at his home. He was owner of Latonia Blacktop Co. and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Covington, where he was a deacon. He was a member of the Covington Board of Adjustment, Kenton County Zoning and Planning Commission and the Kenton County School Board. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Richardson; daughters, Terri Capek and Donna Richardson, both of Taylor Mill, Toni Coldiron of Elsmere and Debi McKinley of Demossville; sisters, Joyce Carter of Melbourne, Fla., and Norma Dorsey of Walton; a brother, Ted Richardson of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Road, Covington, Ky. 41015.

Robert N. Ripley, 56, of Goshen, Ohio, died Sunday at Clermont Mercy Hospital, Batavia, Ohio. He was a millwright with Ford Motor Co., Batavia, and a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his mother, Tina Kennan of Erlanger.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Nellie Scaggs, 76, of Dry Ridge, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, Falmouth. Her husband, Ernest Scaggs, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Gary Scaggs of Falmouth; daughters, Evelyn Brock of Dry Ridge, Nancy Brock of Falmouth and Patsy Sexton of Williamstown; a sister, Gertrude McClurg of Williamstown; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Wanda Mae Weinel, 75, of Cold Spring, died at 11:02 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lawrence H. Weinel, and a son, Donald Sizemore, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Larry Weinel of Cold Spring, Dale Horton of Cincinnati and Dennis Horton of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Betty Downton of Cold Spring; her mother, Renne Moore of Bulan; brothers, Bob Moore, Albert Moore and Bill Moore, all of Bulan; sisters, Ruth Epperson, Inez Busic and Juanita Bersaglia, all of Bulan; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Ruth Young, 79, of Cold Spring, died Monday at her home. She was a retired baker with Northern Kentucky University and was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Survivors include daughters, Roberta Smith of Cold Spring, Mahala Gilene of Crestview and Oneida Young of Dayton; sons, Sonny Young of Morning View and Jeff Young of Latonia; a sister, Irene Mendenhall of Southgate; a brother, James Winkel of Newport; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Outdoorsman John Sturgill, put family first
John Henry Sturgill loved to hunt and fish and taught his children how to do the same.
A daughter, Diana Sander of Taylor Mill, re called walking in the woods with her father while he hunted for rabbits and squirrels.
"He's the one who taught me everything. I was close to my dad. We stood behind him and walked with him while he hunted," Ms. Sander said.
Mr. Sturgill 81, of Latonia, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired machinist with Overhead Door Co.
Ms. Sander said she misses the time she had with her father.
"He had smart hands and knew how to do just about anything," Ms. Sander said. "And he was married for 47 years. He had a good marriage and really loved his family."
Mr. Sturgill was an outspoken man. But he always kept his family close to his heart, his daughter said.
Mr. Sturgill was a native of Berea. His family collected clocks, toys and other keepsakes from 1917, the year when Mr. Sturgill was born.
A son, William Sturgill of Henry, Ky., said he has taught his own children many of the lessons his father taught him.
"I've learned hard work and how to live off the land," William Sturgill said.
Other survivors include his wife, Beatrice Sturgill; sons, Larry Sturgill of Walton and Jeff Cox of New Richmond, Ohio; daughters, Darlene Schewene of Independence, and Jeanie Case, of Taylor Mill; brothers, Hardin Sturgill of Be rea and George Sturgill of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Linne mann Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 8 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Charles W. Arns, 86, of Ludlow, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. He was a retired foreman with the car-cleaning department at Union Terminal, Cincinnati, and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. His wife, Sue E. Arns, died in 1989.
Survivors include sons, Charles D. Arns of Cincinnati, Richard Arns and Dennis Arns, both of Florence; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Herman Lee Fryman, 85, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired farmer and a member of Elmarch United Methodist Church, Harri son County.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie J. Platt Fryman; sons, William J. Fryman of Paris, Garnett Wayne Fryman and Lorenza "Lee" Fryman, both of Harrison County; a daughter, Anita "Jean" Buckler of Mount Olivet; a half- sister, Ruby Young of Haysville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two step- great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arizona Gross, 83, of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Newport.

Brenda Carol Smith Johnson, 45, of Turners Station, died Wednesday at her parents' home in Carroll County of complications of cancer. She was a former inspector with Varity Dayton-Walther Corp., Carrollton, and a member of English Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Johnson; a daughter, Candida Henry of Carrollton; sons, Shawn Henry of Prescott, Ariz., and Nathan Henry of Carrollton; her parents, Edward and Agnes Hunter Smith of Turners Station; a sister, Linda Marie Smith of Carrollton; and a brother, Gayle Lloyd Smith of Turn ers Station.

Bertha "Granny" McCart er, 98, of Butler, died Thursday at Clermont Nursing Home in Milford, Ohio. She was a home maker. Six children preceded her in death.

Sara V. Rouse, 90, of Louis ville, formerly of Florence, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday at Masonic Home in Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of Florence Baptist Church. Her husband, Lloyd C. Rouse, died in 1972.

Chester Lee Sargent, 70, of Williamstown, died Wednesday in an auto accident at the intersection of Ky. 36 and Moon Road in Grant County. He was a farmer.

Luanne Denise Sharp-Sims, 45, Carmel Valley, Calif., formerly of Covington, died of cancer Wednesday at her home. She was manager of the Wills Fargo restaurant in Carmel Valley, Calif., a past board of directors clerk with the Carmel Valley Fire Protection District, and a member of the Carmel Valley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
