William "Billy" Ray Banks, 22, of Burlington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a self-employed bricklayer, and a member of Wildlife Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Carter Banks; daughters, Leighanna Lynn Banks and Carolyn Jean Banks, both of Burlington; his parents, Donald Banks of Covington and Joyce Banks of Walton; brothers, Donald Palmer Banks of Covington and Dennis Allen Vallandingham of Norfolk, Va.; sisters, Judy Faye Taylor of Williamstown, Leanna Carol Banks of Highland Heights and Betty Lynn Vallandingham of Walton; and half-sisters, Nancy Kay Horn and Daisy Marie Banks, both of Covington.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Covington Church of God. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at the church. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. John Browning, 30, of Covington, died at 3 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a clerk with Adecco Employment Services.
Survivors include a son, Michael Browning of Covington; a daughter, Sarah Browning of Covington; his parents, Glen and Iuka Mae Browning of Covington; a brother, Louis Browning of Elsmere; and sisters, Sandra Jo Browning of Covington and Sadie Ann Browning of Overland Park, Kan.

Mitchell Deaton, 85, of Maysville, died Sunday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. He was a retired freight handler with L&N Railroad, Cincinnati, and a member of First Baptist Church, Maysville.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Deaton; a daughter, Lucilla Allen of Hudson, Ohio; a son, Ervin Deaton of Kentucky; a stepson, Tommy Thomas of Maysville; stepdaughters, Evelyn Roaden of Walton and Amy Johnson of Morehouse; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery.

Betty Hudson Givens, 64, of Erlanger, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington, of cancer. She was a homemaker and a member of Williamstown United Methodist Church. Her husband, Lloyd Givens, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Hensley of Williamstown; a sister, Loretta Long of Mesquite, Nev.; and one grandchild.
No services are planned. Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, is handling arrangements.

Helen Rettig Grayson, 88, of Ft. Mitchell, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Ft. Mitchell. She also was a member of Summit Hills Country Club, Crestview Hills.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Merwin Grayson; a son, Thomas E. Rettig of Ft. Mitchell; a daughter, Sally Rettig Schneider of Lakeside Park; stepsons, Merwin Grayson of Crescent Springs and Tom Grayson of the state of California; a stepdaughter, Jill Grayson Beckman of Richwood; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Florence Jordan, 88, of Alvin, Texas , formerly of Covington, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Gulf Health Care Center, Texas City, Texas . She was a retired waitress with White Horse Restaurant, Park Hills. Her husband, George Jordan, died in 1954.
Survivors include sons, Fred Bailey of Seattle and George Jordan of Ohio; a daughter, Rosemary McKinney of Alvin, Texas ; a brother, Charles Browning of Carthage, Texas ; a sister, Sue Deuber of Baltimore; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Verna "Sally" Hunter McIntosh, 73, of Alexandria, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired machine operator with Heekin Can Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, Highland Heights. Her husband, Edgar McIntosh, died in 1988. A daughter, Alvina Collins, died in 1948.
Survivors include a son, William McIntosh of Cincinnati; daughters, Joyce Kubicek of Corpus Christi, Texas , and Deborah Creech of Alexandria; three half-sisters, one half-brother, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Minnie C. Smith Miracle, 95, of Florence, died Saturday at her granddaughter's home in Florence. She was a retired machinist with K-D Lamp Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Fredrick L. Miracle, died in 1963.
Survivors include brothers, Bobby Smith and Oscar Smith, both of Erlanger; a sister, Mabel Benson of Florence; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia Janet Wakeman, 78, of Cincinnati, died Monday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.

Brooks V. Watton, 81, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Monday at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville after a brief illness. He was a retired machinist with Bellows Valve Air Co. and a member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church, both in Zanesville.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah F. Klinger Watton; daughters, Nancy Crumbaker of Zanesville, Ohio, and Rosemary Newcomer of Dayton, Ohio; a son, Larry Watton of Florence; a sister, Ruby Grandstaff of Zanesville; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hillis Funeral Home, Zanesville, Ohio. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Cemetery.

Arthur J. Lindeman, was chairman of Erlanger-Elsmere school board
Arthur J. Lindeman was a quiet, unassuming man who served 16 years on the Erlanger-Elsmere Board of Education and had an elementary school named in his honor.
Mr. Lindeman, 97, of Elsmere, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He served eight years as chairman of the the school board.
"They built an elementary school and had been naming previous ones after people in the school system," said a son, Larry Lindeman of Erlanger. "He had been on the school board for some time, and they wanted to honor him some way. He was quite pleased with it."
His father enjoyed serving on the board because "he liked seeing kids have a chance to better themselves."
Mr. Lindeman sponsored an essay-writing contest on citizenship each year and contributed his own money as a prize for the winner.
He worked as a machinist for the Rauh Shirt Co. in Cincinnati for 37 years. He retired after working for the Singer Sewing Machine Co.
He served as Elsmere city clerk and was a trustee, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Elsmere Baptist Church. He coached basketball
teams at the church and in his younger days played basketball.
His relatives considered him "the rock" of the family.
He was devoted to his wife, Gladys Lindeman, who has been in a nursing home for six years. He visited her every day.
"Every morning at 9 o'clock we'd take him, and bring him back at 8 o'clock," his son said.
"For six years he did that every day and only missed two days because of the flu."
Mr. Lindeman also was a past secretary of Good Faith Masonic Lodge No. 95 F&AM and a member of Indra Consistory Scottish Rite, Covington.
He was part of the civilian defense corps during World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Glen Lindeman of Ashville, N.C.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Memorials are suggested to Elsmere Baptist Church, 250 Garvey Ave., Elsmere, Ky. 41018; or the Baptist Convalescent Center, 120 Main St., Newport, Ky. 41071.
