Ollie Droganes, 74, of Flor ence, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired clerk with the Internal Revenue Service, and also worked at his family's busi ness, Sam's Confectionery in Covington. He was a member of St. Paul Church, Florence, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Droganes; a daughter, Lois Winebrenner of Indepen dence; a son, Rick Hornsby of Edgewood; a brother, Sam Dro ganes of Ft. Mitchell; nine grand children and six great-grand children.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:10 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. William J. Frede Jr., 77, of Ft. Thomas, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a re tired electrical engineer with Cooper Industries, Florence, and a member of Mother of God Church, Covington.
He was the first president of Bellevue Vets, was a crossing guard for St. Thomas Schools in Ft. Thomas, and a volunteer with handicapped children at the Ft. Thomas YMCA and Parish Kitchen at Mother of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Schneider Frede; sons, David Frede of Lockport, Ill., Douglas Frede of Louisville, Thomas Frede of Newport, and Timothy Frede and John Frede, both of Ft. Thomas; daughters, Barbara Frede and Mary Sue Ca ton, both of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Helen Blackshear of Bellevue; and six grandchildren.

Margaret Mildred Cox Hill man, 94, of Yanceyville, N.C., formerly of Campbell County, died Tuesday at Brian Center Health Care, Yanceyville, N.C.
She was a former postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service, and a bookstore manager and Dean of Women at Atlanta Christian College in East Point, Va. She al so was a member of Oakview Presbyterian Church in Yancey ville. Her husband, Stanley Levi Hillman Sr., died in 1952.
Survivors include sons, Stan ley Levi Hillman Jr. of Ruffin, N.C., and Robert L. Hillman of Purley, N.C.; daughters, Margie Hillman Fessler of Tennille, Ga., and Mattie Lue Dumas of Pem broke Pines, Fla.; 10 grandchild ren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce Ann Huffaker Lewis, 54, of Taylorsville, formerly of Independence, died Monday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Lewis of Taylorsville; her mother, Lydia Huffaker of Independence; a sister, Wilma Moody of Clarksville, Ind.; and brothers, William Huffaker Jr. of Ryland Heights, Samuel Arthur Huffaker of Independence and John Mark Huffaker of Louisville.

Herman Ransdell, 97, of Cincinnati, formerly of Williamstown, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lillian Houston Geriatric Center, Fairfield, Ohio. He was a former partner in the Littrell & Ransdell Feed and Hardware Store in Jonesville, and a member of Williamstown Baptist Church. His wife, Elizabeth Davis Ransdell, died in 1974.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Mabel Souder of Louisville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.

Mary Laura Rippley, 84, of Dayton, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a retired sales clerk with Shillito's department store, Cincinnati. Her husband, Clarence Rippley, died in 1990.
Survivors include daughters, Ruth Hollmann and Delores Teeken, both of Cincinnati, and Darlene Blackaby of Dayton; brothers, Joseph Imhoff of Ft. Shelby C. Teegarden, 72, of Butler, died Wednesday at his home following an extended illness. He was a retired quality control inspector with General Motors, Cincinnati, and a member of United Auto Workers Union Local No. 674, Cincinnati. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Baldridge Teegarden; a son, Robert Lee Teegarden of Utah; a daughter, Joyce Ann Freeman of California, Ky.; a sister, Gladys Pauline Cox of Brooksville; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Love for family filled heart of Bellevue's Walter Yelton
Walter E. Yelton's family was his life.
The lifelong Bellevue resident was a committed husband and father who kept busy participating in the lives of his two children. He also was a commanding figure for his grandchildren.
"They were his life, and later, his two grandchildren were his life," said Mr. Yelton's wife, Joan Wagner Yelton. "He was outgoing and easy to get along with."
Mr. Yelton, 73, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at his home.
The World War II veteran graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in business. He worked for a couple of companies before retiring from Hebrew Union College after 11 years.
He married his wife in 1951, and they raised their two children in Bellevue.
When his daughter, Wendy, took up an interest in volleyball, he began refereeing for her team. He continued refereeing for the Bellevue Vets' girls' volleyball team for about 30 years.
He also helped organize the annual Bellevue carnival.
Mr. Yelton enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends in his free time.
"He was well-liked by everyone," his wife said.
He also was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Bellevue and Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge 607 in Dayton.
Besides his wife and daughter, Wendy Yelton Merman of Bellevue, Mr. Yelton leaves a son, Tim Yelton, of Southgate, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Carol Backer, 76, of Ryland Heights, died at 2:55 a.m. Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

Calvin Richard Cain, 76, of Georgetown, died Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a retired farmer, a member of Grace Baptist Church of Georgetown, and a former member of Headquarters United Methodist Church, Cynthiana. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Inez Louella Preston Cain; and daughters, Eva Mae Day Burros, Sarah Ellen Cain, Wanda Faye Cain and Judy Louise Cain, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Richard Eugene Cain and Gary Lynn Cain, both of Harrison County; daughters, Mary Adams of Everett, Wash., Louella Mattox of Millington, Tenn., Linda Woosley of Cynthiana, Kathleen Joiner of Cochran, Ga., and Vickie Pedersen of Lexington; 29 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
