James "Sandy" Bain, 51, of Harrodsburg, died Monday at his home. He was a security guard at North Point Training Center, Harrodsburg, and a Navy veteran of the Vietname War.
His father, Clarence "Jack" Bain, died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Amber Bain of Lexington; his mother, Anna Laura Bain of Ft. Mitchell; and sisters, Carole L. Barnes of Ft. Mitchell and Jacqueline Duhlmeier of Loveland, Ohio.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Anna M. Bothman, 59, of Maysville, died Wednesday at Columbia Hospital Maysville. She was retired from the former U.S. Shoe Corp., Maysville.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Carl Bothman; sons, Jeffery Carl Bothman of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jay Carlton Bothman of Maysville; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Ronald G. Cecil, 62, of Latonia, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was retired from Cincinnati Gas & Electric. He was an Army veteran and was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Latonia.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Cecil; sons, Rick Cecil and Scott Cecil, both of Independence; a daughter, Shelly Wayman of Independence; a stepson, Rick Beach of Jonesville; two stepdaughters, Deborah Hamm of Florence and Tina Dunn of Covington; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Joseph Dominick Forte, 81, of Covington, died Friday at his residence. He was a retired service repairman for Cincinnati Gas & Electric and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his former wife, Janet Forte of Covington; sons, Mark Forte of Ft. Mitchell, Todd Forte of Edgewood, James Alford of West Chester, Ohio, and Michael Alford of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Tina Forte of Taylor Mill; brothers, Henry Forte of Ft. Rosa L. Hodges, 89, of Union, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of East Bend Baptist Church, Union.
Survivors include a sister, Lucille Hodges of Union; and several cousins.

Sister Mary David Jordan, C.D.P., 94, of Melbourne, died at 2:22 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Home in Melbourne. Sister Jordan was a member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 70 years. She worked in administrative and leadership positions and cared for the sick. Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Anne Convent Chapel, Melbourne. Flora Louise Laswell, 76, of Indianapolis, formerly of Warsaw, died Thursday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bulldog Club of Indianapolis. Her husband, Samuel William Laswell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, William P. Laswell and Larry Keith Laswell, both of Indianapolis; sisters, Marien McDanell Plunkett of Ft. Mitchell and Dorothy Jean McDanell Patten of Edgewood; a brother, James McDanell of Warsaw; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Nelle Kessens Block, Newport librarian
Nelle B. Kessens Block had a long and loving relationship with books.
A retired librarian for the Newport Public Library, Mrs. Block, 94, formerly of Newport, died Friday night in Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.
"She was at the library, at Fourth and Monmouth streets, for 40 years," said Mrs. Block's daughter, Gail Terry, of West Chester, Ohio.
Her mother began at the library as a substitute worker, and soon became the head librarian, Mrs. Terry said. She retired some years ago, before the library became a part of the Campbell County Library System.
Mrs. Block was herself an avid reader, Mrs. Terry said. "She loved biographies," she recalled.
Her mother was a great admirer of U.S. Rep. Brent Spence, who donated his papers to the library during Mrs. Block's time as librarian, Mrs. Terry said.
Mrs. Block directed an active summer reading program for children, her daughter said.
A native of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Mrs. Block lived much of her life in Newport, but also resided in Ft. Thomas.
Mrs. Block was very active in the Eastern Star and was past matron of the Gertrude Chapter in Newport, Mrs. Terry said. She was also active in the state organization of Job's Daughters, an organization for young people, her daughter said.
Mrs. Block's husband, Ashburn Marion Block, died in 1970.
In addition to her daughter, survivors include a son, William A. Block of Erlanger; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Viola B. Beckham, 80, of Carrollton, died at 7:25 p.m Saturday at Kings Daughters Hospital, Madison, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church. Her husband, Maurice Lee Beckham, died in 1994.
Survivors include a brother, Orvel Buchanan of Milton; and a sister, Thelma Bowling of Louisville.

Rosa Lena Bell, 92, of Cynthiana, died Saturday at her home. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of St. Edward Church, Cynthiana. Her husband, Ernest Raymond Bell, and a son, Raymond Kauffman "Buddy" Bell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Bell Wornall of Cynthiana; and three grandchildren.

Elmer James Goad, 69, of Berry, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at his residence. He was a retired sheet-metal worker for the former Bicker Sheet Metal Co., Cincinnati. A son, Elmer J. Goad Jr., died in 1986.

Dennis A. Ivey, 39, of Independence, died at 1:24 a.m. Saturday in an automobile accident on Interstate 275 in Covington. He was a member of Big Bone Baptist Church, Union. His mother, Hilda Martha Ivey, preceded him in death.

Agnes Loree McIntyre, 79, of Dayton, died at 7:53 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired nurse's aide for Spears Hospital, Dayton. She was a member of East Dayton Baptist Church. Her husband, Robert O. McIntyre, died in 1987.
