Owen farmer Millard Parr, loved family
Millard Harris Parr worked hard all of his life.
A tobacco and cattle farmer from Owen County, Mr. Parr survived poverty as a child to see his own family grow well and strong.
He also beat cancer before dying of a heart attack Wednesday at his home.
A daughter, Judy McKenney of Corinth, recalls her father as a tireless worker who drove a tractor until his dying day.
"He was my buddy. He lived right next to me," Ms. McKenney said.

jokes and he was a family person," she said.
She said her father enjoyed the past week. He had a special meal for Memorial Day and went fishing. He voted for his favorite candidates on Tuesday and enjoyed his children.
And he started the day Wednesday as always, getting up to work on his farm.
"He was raised poor, but he was honest," Ms. McKenney said.
