Thomas William Bernard, 69, of Crestview Hills, died Monday at his home. He was a retired sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers Union Local No. 46, Rochester, N.Y., and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Mary Ann Blackburn, 88, of Williamstown, died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday at Owenton Manor Nursing Home, Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of St. William Church, Williamstown. Her husband, Robert A. Blackburn, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, R. Dale Thomas of Williamstown; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Anthony Burk, 75, of Ft. Wright, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired mechanical engineer with the former Emery Industries, Cincinnati, and a member of St. Agnes Altar Society. He was a former president of Hilltoppers Senior Citizens of Ft. Wright, Knights of Columbus, Ludlow, and Independent Order of Forresters. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 203, Latonia and Disabled American Veterans. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Wanda Kathryn Lorentz, 76, of Sheridan, Ill., formerly of Ft. Mitchell, died Wednesday at Sandwich Community Hospital in Sandwich, Ill. She was a homemaker, a member of the Unity Church in Cincinnati, and a member of Dora Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Dayton.

Nellie Rider Milner, 89, of Dry Ridge, died at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown.
She was a homemaker and a former cook and janitor with Dry Ridge Elementary School. She was a former employee of Little Shrimp restaurant, Dry Ridge, and a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ, Williamstown. Her husband, Carl L. Milner, died in 1968. A daughter, Mary Dunn, died in 1995.

Henry W. Reusch, 90, of Florence, died Tuesday at Highlands of Ft. Thomas nursing home. He was a retired switchboard assembler with General Electric, Cincinnati, and was a drummer with the Reidingers, a Northern Kentucky three-piece band.

Adolf "Jack" Stoeke, 89, of Taylor Mill, died at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Latonia. He was a retired machinist with R. A. Jones Co., Crescent Springs, and a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Latonia. His wife, Anna Elizabeth Stoeke, died in 1987.

Stanley Y. Stratton, 84, of Dayton, died Tuesday at VA Medical Center, Lexington. He was a retired painter and an Army veteran.

Theresa M. Kearns Tormey, 72, of Villa Hills, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. A daughter, JoAnn Tormey, preceded her in death.

David Cox, inveterate volunteer
David Wayne Cox interwove his life with business, family and volunteer work. The 48-year-old Morning View man died at 5:52 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He apparently suffered a heart attack.
"He was always busy," said his daughter, Dana Cox of Independence.
Much of the time he was helping someone else. His three daughters were active in sports, and Mr. Cox became a regular at the sports events in which they participated.
"He helped build the softball fields and soccer fields," she said. "He found people to volunteer and got them to come out. My dad helped dig the trenches so the softball fields would drain. He helped with the lights."
He helped coach the girls' soccer team at at Scott High School when Dana Cox played on the team. He kept the time clock for another daughter's basketball games.
"All three of us were playing since first grade," Dana Cox said. "Every Saturday he was there at our games. That was his big day."
Mr. Cox and his twin brother, Dan, and their father Carl E. Cox, started Direct Sales Tech Tire Supply Co., supplying everything from car parts to paper towels to schools and businesses. The business was run out of the elder Cox's home in Morningview.
Carl Cox died in 1994, and his sons continued the business.
Mr. Cox was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and of Bradford Lodge No. 123 F&AM, Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite in Covington, El Hasa Shrine in Ashland, and Campbell County Game and Fish Club in Alexandria.
He would take regular fishing trips to Canada, often with family members.
He had had a heart attack four years ago.
"He was supposed to take it easy, but my dad's a workaholic, and it was hard for him to slow down. He liked to be doing things," Dana Cox said.
On Thursday he started having severe chest pains while driving on Turkeyfoot Road. He pulled off the road and called 911.
"My sister had a game; we think he was going there," Dana Cox said.
Other survivors include daughters, Devin Cox and Diana Cox, both of Independence; his mother, Bobbie Teague Cox of Morningview; and brothers, Dan Cox of Independence and Harold Cox of La Follette, Tenn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, and 3 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Corbin. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Corbin.
Memorials are suggested to the Scott High School girls' athletic department for basketball, softball or soccer.
