Johnny Dell Holbrook, 51, of Covington, died Sunday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired truck driver, and a member of York Street Baptist Church, Newport, and Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge No. 607, Dayton. He was a member of the BassMaster and Bass Anglers fishing groups, and a recipient of a heart transplant in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Holbrook; daughters, Tonda Riley of Newport and Cora Frost of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Linda Johnson of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; and four children.
Memorials services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Garrard Street Church of Christ. Mr. Holbrook's body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Geneva Handy Parsons, 89, of Park Hills, died May 7 at Cottingham Retirement Center, Cincinnati. She was a retired teacher, having spent part of her career at Ludlow High School, where she also directed the student plays and was the yearbook advisor. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park, where she taught Bible studies for the women's circle, and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's honor ary, and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. Her husband, Harold Parsons, died in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Sage of Cincinnati; a sister, Phyllis Stanley of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Memorials are suggested to Northern Kentucky Family Health Centers, 10 W. Mary Rector, 88, of Petersburg, died Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a retired assembly worker and Joseph E. Seagrams & Son Inc., Lawrenceburg, Ind., and a member of Petersburg Christian Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Emogene Dance Russell, 69, of Independence, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired clerk with Bernhards Bakery, Taylor Mill, and a member of Staffordsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John P. Russell; a son, Mike Russell of LaGrange; daughters, Paula Saylor and Sandy Carlisle, both of Independence, and Tena Addington of Florence; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Ruth M. Schwerman, 71, of Ft. Mitchell, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell and the stroke support group at HealthSouth Northern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital, Edgewood.
Survivors include her husband, John B. Schwerman; daughters, Dottie Gunning of Lakeside Park and Debbie Nierman of Ft. Mitchell; a son, Mike Schwerman of Crittenden; sisters, Florence Droege of Florence and Ethel Moll of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mattie Stansel, 95, of Covington, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Ft. Wright. She was a homemaker and a member of Epworth Methodist Church, West Covington. Her husband, John Delbert Stansel, died in 1976. A son, Ralph Stansel, died in 1979.
Survivors include sons, Donald Stansel of Covington and John M. Stansel of Villa Hills; 13 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Allie V. Thornton, 92, of Bromley, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Hills Care Center, Lawrenceburg, Ind. She was a retired press operator with Liebel-Florsheim X-Ray Equipment Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Ludlow, where she was a member of the Ladies Society. Her husband, Cyril Thornton, died in 1939.
Survivors include sons, Spencer Thornton of Erlanger and Homer Thornton of Bowling Green; daughters, Anna Mae Foulks of Bromley and Ruth Foulks of Bowling Green; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Turner, 52, of Dayton, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of East Dayton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse G. Turner; a daughter, Lillie Wilson of Dayton; a son, Timothy J. Turner of Dayton; her mother, Lillie Morrow of Dayton; a sister, Kathleen Swope of Bellevue; a brother, James Morrow of Bellevue; and two granddaughters.

Lana Bayum, devoted to family, Reds
Even at the age of 94, Lana Nodler Baynum never missed a Reds game.
"She loved the Reds," said a granddaughter, Darla Faris of Erlanger. "Johnny Bench was her boy. His pictures were hanging in her apartment.
"We had to get a schedule and have it en larged, so she'd know when they'd be on. On this past Opening Day, we called down (to the nursing home) to make sure they knew it was on and she'd want to see it."
Ms. Baynum, 94, died at 11:52 p.m. Wednes day at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She lived in Ft. Wright.
As a young woman, Ms. Baynum held several jobs, including waitressing in Covington and working at Woolworth's.
She was married to Russel Baynum, with whom she had two children, for 20 years before divorcing.
"She was very humble," her granddaughter said. "She loved her church, and she was one to always be there and always participate, but she never wanted the limelight."
Ms. Baynum, a member of Erlanger Baptist Church, worked as an office clerk with R. L. Polk Co. in Cincinnati until she retired at the age of 62.
She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her grandchildren "always enjoyed spending nights with her, eating peaches and ice cream, those kinds of things," said her daughter, Alice J. Gray of Erlanger.
Other survivors include a son, Gilbert R. Baynum of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Erlanger Baptist Church, 116 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, Ky. 41018.
Trula Marie Egnew, 76, of Florence, died Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home.

Kenneth Lintner, 73, of Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. He was a driver with Hertz Rent-a-Car, an Army veteran and a member of Disabled American Veterans. His wife, Bertha Lintner, died in 1989. A daughter, Cindy Lintner, died in 1997.
Survivors in clude a son, Richard Lintner of Tuscon, Ariz.; brothers, Richard Lintner of Seven Mile, Ohio, and Ernie Lintner of Fairfield, Ohio; and several grandchildren.

Mark Joseph Stone, the son of Mary Jane and Mark Stone of Richwood, was stillborn Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
