Gabriel Owen Christian Staggs, the son of John and Lori Moore Staggs of Butler, was stillborn Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Other survivors include a brother, Zachary Staggs, at home; and grandparents, Leon and Marcella Bonar of Falmouth, and Jean Moore of Highland Heights.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is handling arrangements.

Ralph "Jim" Tanner, 56, of Florence, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

James Graylon Thacker, 45, of Covington, died Saturday at his home. He was owner of Thacker Construction Co., Tujunga, Calif.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Beck of Newport; and sisters, Sarah Desentz of Newport and Lisa Blevins of Georgetown.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Pendleton County. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

James E. Thornton, 84, of Owenton, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was an engineer, a member of Owenton First Baptist Church, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Bishop Thornton; and a son, Charlie Thornton of Louisville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main St., Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Edward Weinel Jr., 75, of Alexandria, died Wednesday at Batavia Nursing Home in Batavia, Ohio. He was a heavy equipment operator with Bob Allender Construction Co., Alexandria.
Survivors include a brother, Jerry Weinel of Alexandria; and sisters, Violet DeMoss of Williamstown, Ruby Hofstetter and Hope Nordwick, both of Alexandria.
Services will be at 8 p.m. tonight at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

"Jim' Tanner, served labor groups
Ralph "Jim" Tanner of Florence was always helping others.
"All you had to do was ask and he would do it," said his son, Jim Tanner Jr. of Indianapolis. "He was a giving, generous person - always looking to other people's needs."
Mr. Tanner, 56, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an administrative assistant to the president of United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local 1099.
Mr. Tanner was a community-oriented man, serving on many committees.
"He wasn't one who just joined organizations," said his sister, Linda Barlow of Union. "He was active. He took each of those organizations responsibly and seriously."
Mr. Tanner was a member of Florence Baptist Church, the executive board of the Northern Kentucky Labor Council, the National and Boone County Democratic Committee, and the Boone County Antique Engine and Tractor Association.
He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly working on his farm.
Mr. Tanner was proud of his children. He adored his grandchild.
"He loved his granddaughter," Mrs. Barlow said. "He was sick, but when she came into the room, his eyes literally danced and sparkled."
His wife, Sarah Christine Tanner, died in 1993.
Other survivors include his mother, Ada Webb of Florence; son, Donnie Tanner of Florence; a sister, Sue Bosse of Burlington; half-brothers, Lowell Freeman and Robert Freeman, both of Florence; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Cleeda Mae Ashcraft, 77, formerly of Ft. Thomas, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice, Covington. She was a retired seamstress for Palm Beach Clothes, Newport, and a member of the Church of God, Newport. Her husband, Zack M. Ashcraft, died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Oak of Dry Ridge; sons, Thomas Ashcraft of Ft. Mitchell, William Ashcraft of Highland Heights, Virgil Dale Ashcraft of Independence and Michael Ashcraft of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Uldean Pope of Nashville, Tenn; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Alvin Flannery, 37, of Dry Ridge, formerly of Carrollton, died Wednesday after being struck by a tractor trailer on southbound Interstate 75 in Grant County. He was disabled.
Survivors include his parents, James H. and Hazel Flannery of Carrollton; and brothers, Mike Flannery of California, Bobby Flannery of Ft. Thomas and Jimmie Flannery of Carrollton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton, with visitation from 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Carrollton IOOF Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alvin Flannery Memorial Fund, at any Star Bank location.

Elenora M. Gossett, 82, of Highland Heights, died Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a retired counselor for Youth Inc. and a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Newport.
Survivors include sons, Robert Gossett of Hardin, Charles Gossett of Silver Grove and Jeffrey Gossett of Cincinnati; a daughter, Linda J. Gossett of Elsmere; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jeanette Jacobs, 71, of Ludlow, died at 5:08 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired supervisor for the R. L. Polk Co., Cincinnati, and a volunteer in the juvenile section of the Kenton County Jail.
She was a member of the ministry development program of the Exodus Jail Ministries, Erlanger; the St. Mary Altar Society; the St. Vincent DePaul Society; and Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow, where she was a member of the liturgy committee, the director of lay ministries and a member of the parish council.
Survivors include a sister, Catherine Unthank of Richmond.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Darcy W. Johnson, 38, of Dayton, died at 2 a.m. Friday at his residence. He was disabled.

Crosby "C.L." Knox, 63, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was the last owner of the Interlude Club, Covington, and was a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Andy E. Stephenson, 73, of Warsaw, died at noon Thursday at his residence. He was a retired carpenter, an Army veteran of World War II, a trustee and deacon of the First Christian Church of Warsaw and a member of the Southwest Ohio Carpenters Union Local 698 and the Henry Lindon Post No. 1140, Warsaw.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Frances Harmon Stephenson; a daughter, Deborah S. Bingham of Warsaw; sons, Dana C. Stephenson of Sparta and Daryl W. Stephenson of Warsaw; sisters, Jessie Luchte, Clara Rider and JoEva Riddle, all of Warsaw, and Louise Roberts of Glencoe; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
