Jackson, Dennis Paul
ARJAY —Dennis Paul "Bunyan" Jackson, 37 of Arjay passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Red Bird on December 5, 1969 and had been a coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Jackson; brother, Ricky Jackson and a nephew, Dalton Gregory.
Survivors include his wife of sixteen years, Angela Fuson Jackson, children, Lyndsey Jackson and Jonathan Jackson all of Arjay; parents Opal and Roy Asher of Arjay; sister, Judy and husband Jay Rice of Arjay; brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Merl Jackson, Danny "Redbone" and Teresa Jackson all of Arjay, and Russell and Rhonda Asher of Straight Creek; nieces and nephews, Josh and Ashley Asher, Donna and Kendra Jackson, David, Cody, Austin and Zachary Fuson, Jason and Katherine Rice, Melinda Rice and Albert Gregory, Kayla, James and McKenzie Rice Sophia and Sierra Lefevers, Mickey and Maddison Jackson; great-nieces and nephew, Jaden Gregory, Tatten and Maddison Rice and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Green Camp Pentecostal Church with Rev. Gary Wagner officiating. Music will be by Julie Wagner and friends. Burial will follow in the Brummett cemetery at Simms Fork. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Green Camp Pentecostal Church.

LAUREL HILL — Patricia A. Jackson, 38, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Pineville Community Hospital.
She was born in Coldwater, Ohio, on June 23, 1969, a daughter of Earl and Linda Hurley Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Maggie Hurley, and Gillis and RoseAnna Jackson.
Survivors include her parents, Earl and Linda Jackson of Laurel Hill; sisters, Teresa Hunter and husband Kevin, and Rita Jackson and fianc/ Timothy Edmondson, both of Laurel Hill; brother, Chris Place and wife Carmen of Lima, Ohio; nephew, L.J. Rose; nieces, Shelby Hunter, Samantha Place, Kasey, Tasha and Brandi Hunter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Laurel Hill Primitive Baptist Church Association Building with Elder Johnny Robbins, Elder Melvin Jackson and Elder Randall Miracle officiating.
Burial will be in Gillis Jackson Family cemetery on Laurel Hill. Pallbearers will be Steve Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Mike Jackson, Don Jr. Jackson, Adam Jackson, Chris Place, Keith Osborne and David E. Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Henry Jackson, Donald Wayne Jackson, Edward Hurley, L.J. Rose, Kevin Hunter and Timothy Edmondson.

Johnson, Edith Stewart
PINEVILLE — Edith Stewart Johnson, 78, went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 28, 2008. She passed away at her home.
Born in Blackstar, Ky., on August 21, 1929, she was the daugter of the late Frank and Elsie Hubbard Stewart. She had lived most of her life in East Pineville where she attended church with her husband and family. On June 15, 1946, she married
James Junior Johnson and to this union the Lord blessed them with 12 children, which was the number Edith always said she wanted. She was a very loving, praying and giving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all that knew her. She was a born again Christian who believed in the Holiness Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, children, Rickie Sue and Carol Sue; grandchildren, Polly and Edward Thomas; brothers, Shirl, Saint Paul, Mason and E.L Johnson.; sister, Lola Tipton, sister-in-law, Lydia Stewart; and special friends, Effie Idol, Nell Collett and Evelyn Warsham.
Survivors include her children, Van (Henrietta) Johnson, Linda (Lee) Rigney, Harold (Hunk) Johnson, Rita Faye Johnson, Marty (Jerry) Rogers, Frank (Paula) Johnson, Robert Johnson, James (Beverly) Johnson, Elsie Mae Johnson, Robert (R.J.) Johnson and Mike (Tina) Johnson; 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry and Frank Stewart; sister, Gladys Sepeck; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. George Neal and the Rev. David Jackson presiding. Music will be by grandson Joshua Johnson, Barbara Bingham, Brenda Jackson and Ron Hensley.
Burial will be in the Jackson Family cemetery on Laurel Hill. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Johnson, Freeman Jr.
WALTON, Ky. - Freeman Johnson Jr., 59, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood, Ky.
He was a traffic coordinator for General Motors who retired after 31 years of service, and was president of Continental Western Express
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Johnson, Walton; daughter, Nicole (Adam) Karlis, Independence, Ky.; sisters, Frances Hurley, Barbara Lawson and Thelma Jean Johnson, all of Pineville; brothers, Clyde Johnson, Pineville, and Paul Johnson, Charleston, W.Va; and stepmother, Linda Johnson, Bim, W.Va.; extended family, Jennifer Smith, Rita Tanner, Barry Tanner, Matthew Tanner, Kelly Tanner, entire Brady Family; and mother-in-law, Margie Woolum, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, Ky.

Johnson, Mayme
Mayme Johnson, 91, of Barbourville, was born on October 30, 1915 in Knox County, Kentucky.
She was a daughter of the late Henry Jackson and Hallie Parrott Jackson. Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital.
She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 580.
On March 17, 1934, she united in marriage to Felix Johnson. Her Husband, Felix; a Grandson, James Allen Jr.; Great Grandson Kevin Brown, A Sister; Ruby Mills Three Brothers; Sillus, Claude and Dave Jackson and a Son-In-Law; R.P. Bargo all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her Children; Charles (Douglas) Doug Johnson and wife, Diane; Felix Ray Johnson and wife, Debbie all of Bailey Switch, Kentucky; Janet Faye Shelton and husband, Oscar of New Carlisle, Ohio; Shirley Sue Bargo of Gray, Kentucky; Betty Jean Centers and husband, Jack of Bailey Switch, Kentucky; Ruby Ann Begley and husband, Paul of Gray, Kentucky; Georgia Mae Johnson, Mary Joyce Hammons and husband, Marvin and Phyllis Ruth Smith and husband, Otis all of Bailey Switch, Kentucky; Her Grandchildren; Colette, Kim, Kathy, Donna, Barbara, Tina, Joy, Mindy, Mary Ann, Jeff, Bobby, Jimmy, Tommy, Terry, Jackie, Marvin Jr., Otis Jr., Kevin and Douglas; and her twenty-nine Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mayme Johnson were conducted Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. David Barnard officiating.
Burial followed in the Johnson cemetery at Ray's Knob in Knox County.
Pallbearers were Grandsons of Mrs. Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were: Dr. Pedersen, Dr. West; all Knox County Home Health Staff, and all Knox County Hospital Staff.
The Johnson Family received friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Friday from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
Jones, John
KETTLE ISLAND — Celebrating the life of John Jones, 99 years and 11 months of Kettle Island, who passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at the Pineville Community Hospital.
He was born, Jan. 15. 1908, at Red Bird, the son of Calloway and Lucy Slusher Jones. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was an active member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and greeter and oversaw the construction of the church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Collett Jones; son, Bill Jones; grandson, Larry Jones; brothers, Foister, George and W.J.; and sisters, Ella, Sue, Delora, Bertha, Edna Mae, Mary, Ethel and Pearl.
Survivors include two daughters, Fannie (Gabe) Howard and Marsetta Crisp, both of Kettle Island; son, George C. Jones of Florida; daughter-in-law, Claudette Jones of Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Rev. Rondald (Sandy) Howard of Pineville, Rev. Rodger (Patricia) Howard of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Benny (Woodie) Howard of Kettle Island, Tim Jones of Kettle Island, Johnnie (Rebecca) Crisp of Pineville; Debbie Jones of Franklin, Tenn., Karen Karel of Franklin, Tenn., Kathy Clark of R.I., and Tonya (Jerry) Cloe of Kansas City, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Andrew Howard, Beth Howard, Matthew Howard, James Howard, Lindsey Howard, Paige Howard, Gracen Howard and Dana Howard, Emily Jones, Jacob Jones, Lisa Nelson, Leah Nelson, Abbie Clark, Katie Clark, Joey Cloe and Caleb Cloe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Collett, and grandsons, Rev. Rondald Howard, Rev. Rodger Howard and Rev. Johnnie Crisp presiding. Special music will be by grandson, Benny Howard, along with Mickey Wilder and pianist Brenda McKeehan.
Interment will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be Andrew Howard, Matthew Howard, James Howard, Jacob Jones, Tim Jones, Jerry Cloe, Richard Collett, Bruce Collett, Vernon Collett Jr., Terry Collett and Frankie Dean Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Morgan, Grant Helton, Ted Wilder, Ernest Slusher and the men of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church.

MIDDLESBORO - Joyce A. Jones, 60, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at her home.
Born Feb. 28, 1946, at Cary, she was the daughter of the late Flora Wilson. She was a member of Binghamtown Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Burns.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Jones, Middlesboro; son, Michael "Mike" and Becky Jones, Pineville; daughter, Kim (Keith) Saylor, Middlesboro; grandchildren, Adam Michael Jones, Madison Saylor, and Matthew Saylor; brother, Jerry (Susie) Whitaker, Arjay; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Creech Funeral Home with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding.Music will be provided by Jimmy Jackson and Dickie Siler. Interment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry Frank, Jim Hood, Dennis Gilbert, Benny Myers, Jeff Jackson, and Keith Saylor.

PINEVILLE — Earl Joe Knuckles, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was born in Bird Branch on January 18, 1934, a son of the late James and Lillie Napier Knuckles. He had been the owner of Pinelawn Memorial cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Starks; and brothers and sisters, Millie Woolum, Walter Knuckles, J.T. Knuckles and Ed Knuckles.
Survivors include his children, Brenda and Greg Ponchot of Indianapolis, Ind., Brent and Karen Knuckles of Pierceton, Ind., Kevin and Shelly Knuckles of Hillsborough, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Hazel Jones, Ray Knuckles, Bob Knuckles, Ellen Porter, Leonard Knuckles, Dorothy Knuckles and Claiborne Knuckles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home.

Beverly - Reed Knuckles, 83, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Williamsburg Nursing Home in Williamsburg, Ky.
He was born in Field, Ky., on May 14, 1922, a son of the late Robert and Lillie Sizemore Knuckles. He had worked at Ritter Sawmill for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loriene Knuckles; brothers, Albert, George Matt, Colson and Ed Knuckles.
Survivors include his son, Everett Knuckles and his wife, Dawn; daughter Imogene Jarnagan; grandchildren, Melissa Maynard, Christopher Knuckles, Pamela Lawson and Ronald Lawson; four great-grandchildren; step-children, Irving Gipson, Paul Caleb Gipson and Kathy Gipson; seven step-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Tressie Gibson; a brother, Robert Knuckles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

MIDDLESBORO - Curtis Lawson, 80, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Claiborne County Hospital, Tazewell, Tenn.
He was born at Blanche, Ky., the son of William "Doc" Lawson and Mary Jones Lawson. He was member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Henry Lawson; one brother, William Lawson; and a grandson, Timothy Dewayne Lawson.
Survivors include Curtis Lawson and Tammy Baker, Middlesboro, Clayton and Tammy Lawson, Williamsburg, Ky., Farmer Lawson and Ann Maiden, Pineville, Dewey and Carol Lawson Rice, Arjay, Ralph and Charlotte Lawson Upton, Middlesboro, Steve and Cheryl Lawson, Laurel Hill, and William and Linda Lawson Layne, Arjay; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; a host of brothers and sisters, and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.
