Lefevers, Murial Yvonne

Murial Yvonne Lefevers, 58, of Cary Hollow, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2007 at her home.

She was born in Cary on November 16, 1948 the daughter of the late Arnold "Bud" and Beatrice Taylor Lefevers. She had been a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Amanda York, sister, Loretta Klinger and brothers, Wilce and Joe Ray Lefevers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Chris York; grandson, Christian Lee York; brothers and sisters, Marie and Matt Secan, Shirley Hollingsworth, Lavern and Nora Lee Lefevers, Harold Lefevers, Larry and Brenda Lefevers, Glenn and Virginia Lefevers and Michael and Linda Lefevers and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Darrell Lowe.

No visitation will be held. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.

Lefevers, Virgil

Lefevers, Mr. Virgil age 77 of Tazewell, Tennessee passed away Saturday morning September 22, 2001 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 Monday September 24, 2001 at Claiborne Funeral Home.

Military servieces with Honors conducted by East Tn. Veterans Honor Guard will be 11 am Tuesday September 23, 2001 in Irish Memorial Gardens.

Lefevers, William

LeFEVERS, WILLIAM J., 64, of Palm Harbor, died Sunday (Aug. 30, 1992) at home.

He was born in Middlesboro, Ky., and came here in 1985 from Warren, Mich.

He worked as an operating engineer in the construction industry.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes M.; a daughter, Angie Berdeski, Almont, Mich.; and two grandchildren. Curlew Hills Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.

Lock, Ardith Ellen McGaffee

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Ardith Ellen McGaffee Lock, 94, of Spartanburg, S.C. passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008, in Spartanburg.

She was born in Bell Co. on July 21, 1913, the daughter of the late Melanie Belle Pigman and Steve Daniel McGaffee.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Reed M. Lock and brother George William "Bill" McGaffee.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Bell Russell, Spartanburg, S.C.; sisters-in-law Gertrude Gross, Middlesboro, and Daisy Lock, Kettle Island; niece, Georgeanne McGaffee, Pineville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pineville, and a retired school teacher.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral service.

Locke, Mary Sue Smith

Straight Creek - Mary Sue Smith Locke, 66, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Ky.

Born April 18, 1940, at Insull, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Alexander and Myrtle Reed Smith.

She graduated from the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, Ky., with a degree in education.

She retired from the Bell County School System, where she served many years with distinction.

She enjoyed life to the fullest, and was a published poet with some of her works featured at the Smithsonian Institute.

She had many interests and hobbies, but the highlight of her life was her deep faith in Jesus Christ, and her steadfast faithfulness to the church she loved - Rose Hill Community Pentecostal Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Locke; three brothers, Beauford Reed Smith, Alfred E. Smith and Robert Bruce Smith.

She is survived by the following members of her family: her loving and faithful daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Burney Napier, Lexington, Ky.; her pride and joy grandson Nicholas Napier; sisters, Jennie Ruth Jewell, Orlando, Fla., Louise (Woodrow) Kelly, Lexington, Ky., Gloria (Clay) Orby, Satsuma, Ala., Marilyn Smith, Harrodsburg, Ky., Joy Birch, Harrodsburg, Ky., Marjorie (Bob) Grout, Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, Alexander (JoAnne) Smith, Virginia Beach, Va., Brian (Ina) Smith, Kaleva, Mich., and David (Gale) Smith, Pineville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Hensley and Bob Grout presiding.

Interment will be in Pineville Memorial cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of all arrangements.

Adams Boone

Funeral services for Boone Adams infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Adams of Roark, Ky. were conducted at the home Saturday Dec. 14th.

Other than the parents, he is survived by three sisters Bonnie Ann Adams, Loretta Ruth Adams and Mary Carolyn Adams, brothers Ernest Adams, Leon Adams, Taylor Adams and Edward Adams Jr. all of Roark, grandmothers Mrs. Arkie Adams and Mrs. Bernice Roark.

Burial was in the Roark cemetery with Arnett Funeral Home in charge.

Akers Carolyn Sue Honeycutt

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Akers age 26 of Stoney Fork, Ky. passed away friday May 5th 1978. She was born in Bell County Ky. May 1st 1952, the daughter of Rev. Eugene Honeycutt and Ruth Wilder Honeycutt.

She is survived by her husband Bobby Akers, Stoneyfork Ky., Her parents Rev. Eugene Honeycutt and Ruth Wilder Honeycutt Laurel Hill Pineville, two grandmothers Mrs. Vernie Honeycutt Corbin Ky., and Mrs. Roxie Wilder Tinsley Ky. One brother Joey Honeycutt Laurel Hill, Pineville. Four sisters Edna Jean Honeycutt and Dale Honeycutt both of Laurel Hill, Pineville. Brenda Honeycutt of Calloway Ky.and Helen Honeycutt Columbus Ohio.

Funeral services for Mrs Akers were Tuesday May 9th 1978 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with James Mooneyham and Otto Brock officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Middlesboro Ky.

Durham Funeral Home was in charge.

Asher Robert

Mr. Robert Asher, a former resident passed away at his home in Dayton, Ohio, Sunday May 17th 1981 after a long illness. Mr. Asher was born in Pineville October 23rd 1929, son of the late Ben and Lilly Roark Asher. He is survived by two daughters Sandra Asher Taylor of Hamilton Ohio and Lillie Katherine Asher of Oklahoma. Four sisters Mrs. Robert Hensley of Calloway Ky., Chesney Burns of Cincinnati Ohio, Verda Bond of Dayton Ohio and Viola Campbell of Dillsboro Ind., Two brothers Frank and Mallue Asher both of Dayton Ohio, one granddaughter and several nephews and neices.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday May 19th at the Pineville Memorial cemetery at Pineville with Billy Sinkhorn officiating. Burial was in the Pineville cemetery with nephews as pallbearers.

Arnett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bailey, Ada Mills

Mrs. Ada Bailey age 70 of Tinsley, Kentucky, passed away wednesday november 19th 1975 at the Pineville Community Hospital.

Mrs. Bailey was born in Knox County Kentucky, March 20th 1904 and was the daughter of the late John and Cordie Smith Mills.She is survived by her husband Mr. Pete Bailey of Tinsley, Kentucky. nine children Mrs. Cresie Mills, Mr. John Bailey, Mrs. Dora Warren all of Arjay Kentucky,Mr. Lee Bailey of Tinsley Ky, Mr. Ray Bailey of Arjay Ky.,Mr. Walter Bailey of Tinsley, Ky,Mrs Louise Reed of Roarke, Ky.,Mr. Elbert Bailey and Mr. Raymond Bailey both of Tinsley, Ky.,two sisters Mrs. Millie Mills and Mrs. Aixe Bargo both of Mills Ky. ,two brothers Mr. Victor Mills and Mr. Lloyd Mills of Mills, Ky. also 39 grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

The funeral services were at the Greasy Creek Baptist Church, Friday November 21st at 2pm. with the Rev. Leroy Carnes and the Rev. Bill Poore officating.Interment was in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. The Durham Funeral Home in charge.

Bailey, Elbert "Eb"

PINEVILLE — Elbert "Eb" Bailey, 67, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at his home.

He was born April 5, 1940, in Bell Co., a son of the late Pete and Ada Mills Bailey. He was president of the Bell County Farm Bureau.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Lee Bailey; brothers, Raymond, Walter, and John Bailey; sisters, Creasie Mills, Dora Warren, and Louise Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Bailey, Pineville; daughter, Machelle (Darrell) Van Winkle Knoxville, Tenn.; grandson, Christopher Shane (Jessica) Evans, Knoxville, Tenn.; great-grandson, Laken Scoff Evans, Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, Bill (Tamara) Bailey, Pineville, and Ray (Virgie) Bailey, Arjay; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.Y. Mills presiding.

Interment will be in the Bailey Family cemetery on Highway 92. Pallbearers will be Darrell Van Winkle, Shane Evans, Danny Bailey, Gene Gambrell, Joe Steely, and Bill Terrell Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Dixon, Danny Luttrell, Joe Stamper, Jerry Baker, and Bell County Farm Bureau Board Members.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of all arrangements.

Bailey, Elsie Baker

ARJAY - Elsie Baker Bailey, 74, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Pineville Community Hospital.

She was born July 31, 1931, in Knox County, Ky., a daughter of the late Boad Baker and Nannie Baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Bailey; infant daughter, Ruby Bailey; sisters, Ruby Goodin and Agnes Alons; brothers, Billy Baker, Guy Carpenter; sister and brother-in-laws, Fred Warren, Floyd Warren, Raymond Bailey, Walter Bailey, and Taylor and Creasie Mills, James Webb

Left to mourn her passing are the following members of her family: her children, who will mourn their truly great mother, Dan and Betty Jane Bailey, Nannie Allen, Tutty and John Henry Holland, Jenny and Richard Dunn, John Bailey Jr., and Melissa and David Sowders; her siblings, Pauline Warren, Thelma Webb, Jim and Jean Baker, Charlie and Judy Baker, Bernie Alons, Virgie Carpenter, Lucy Harbin; her in-laws, Dora Warren, Bill and Tamara Bailey, Elbert and Janice Bailey, Louise and Russell Reed, Ray and Virgie Bailey, Nina Bailey, and Boyd Goodin. She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends, relatives and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Riverside Baptist Church at Fourmile, with the Rev. Charles F. Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be Scott Allen, Samson Bailey, Waylon Dunn, Kyle Dunn, Steve Bailey, Travis Bailey, and Jeff Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be David Chander Sowders, Dustin Warren, Dr. Emanuel H, . Rader, and Larry Allen.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.

Bailey, Johnny

ARJAY - Johnny Bailey, 34, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006, at his home.

Born April 8, 1972, he was the son of Kenneth Bailey and Ella Miller Bailey. He believed in the Baptist faith. A 1990 graduate of Pineville High School, he worked for SF&S Mining of Bell County Coal.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Noah and Virginia Miller; niece, Jennifer Miller; brother-in-law, Johnny Miller; uncles, Leonard Taylor, Noah Thomas Miller Jr.; and Rosa "Big Mama" Brock.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Jenny Lynn Bailey, Arjay; mother and father, Kenneth and Ella Bailey, Arjay; son, Brandon Cole Bailey, Arjay; daughter, Chelsea Virginia Lynn Bailey, Arjay; brother, Kenneth Bailey Jr. and wife Marcinia Bailey of Arjay; nephew, Hunter Bailey; niece, Summer Bailey; aunts and uncles, Susan and James Miller, Alabama, George Miller and Sally, Pineville, Richard and Rose Peace, Pineville, Diane Miller, Maine, Adam Miller, Pineville, Debbie and Barry Green, Wade and Loretta Bailey, Chester and Anita Bailey, Mitchell and Allison Bailey, Matthew Bailey, and Rodney Bailey; father and mother-in-law, Olene and Deanne Miller; brother-in-law, Tom and Lisa Goodin, Lori Miller; nephews, Shane and Cole Goodin, Ronnie Miller, Ryan Miller, Robbie Miller; special friends, Allen Gambrel, Robbie Landrum, Dennis Sanders, Scotty Garnett, Rodney Watts, David Smith, Joe an Taylor Smith; and a host of cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, with the Rev. Melvin Beverly and Clyde "Frankie" Reeder Jr. presiding. Music will be by Leann Fugate.

Interment will be in the Big Jim cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Miller, Robbie Landrum, Dennis Sanders, Nelson Bailey, Rodney Wayne Bailey, Allen Gambrel, Scotty Garnett, Kenneth Bailey Jr., and Tom Goodin. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Bailey, Richard Peace, Olene Miller, Charles Bailey, Wade Bailey, Mitchell Bailey, Rodney Bailey, Matthew Bailey, and Chester Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 4-11 p.m. Tuesday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of arrangements.

Bailey, John

ARJAY - John Bailey, 79, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville

Born Nov. 28, 1926, in Blanche, Ky., he was the son of the late Pete and Ada Bailey. A retired surface and underground miner, he was also a veteran of World War II, and was a member of the UMWA and Riverside Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby; brothers, Raymond and Walter Bailey; sister, Creasie Mills; sisters-in-law, Ruby Goodin and Agnes Alons; brothers-in-law, Guy Carpenter, Billy Baker, Taylor Mills, James Webb, Floyd Warren, and Fred Warren.

Left to mourn this truly great man are the following: his wife of 57 years, Elsie Bailey, Arjay; children, Dan and Betty Jane Bailey, Nannie Allen, Tutty and John Henry Holland, Jenny and Richard Dunn, John Bailey Jr., and Melissa and David Sowders; his siblings, Dora Warren, Bill and Tamara Bailey, Elbert and Janice Bailey, Louise and Russell Reed, Ray and Virgie Bailey, and Nina Bailey; his in-laws, Boyd Goodin, Pauline Warren, Thelma Webb, Jim and Jean Baker, Charlie and Judy Baker, Bernie Alons, Virgie Carpenter, and Lucy Harbin.
