Funeral services will be Friday 3 p.m. at the Paintsville Concord Independent Church, Hager Hill, with burial in the Sparks cemetery, Blaine, KY. Visitation will be Thursday 1 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. at the Paintsville Concord Independent Church, Hager Hill. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Genoa "Dove" McKenzie
Genoa Dove McKenzie, widow of Elder Eual McKenzie and formally of Cantrell's Creek, Flat Gap died Thursday January 2, 2014. She is survived by 2 sons David (Pam) McKenzie of Georgetown, KY and Denver (Teresa) McKenzie of Augusta, SC., 2 grandsons and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Peaceful Valley Church at Flat Gap Ky with burial at the Frazier Cemetary at Flat Gap. He is survived by 2 sons, Robbie Salyer and Roger Salyer and one daughter Paula Scott; 2 brothers, Donald Salyer and Gale Salyer and 2 sisters Rita Cantrell and Mary Blanton; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will be at the Mayo Memorial Cemetary in Paintsville, KY. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. And Sunday 9:00 a.m. To 9:00 p.m, and Monday 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel. Edward “Eddie” Milton Meadows 63, of Wittensville, died Friday January 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife Gayle Cantrell Meadows: one daughter Tonia Bartley and 3 grandchildren: Katie Moore, Mia Bartley and Carter Bartley: one brother Clarence Meadows and 4 Sisters, Roberta Long, Mary Ruth Melvin, Virginia Rose Tackett and Anita Gullett. Calvin Thomas Yates, 87, husband of Ruby C. Yates, of Catlettsburg, KY formerly of Paintsville, KY, died January 6, 2014. He was born February 3, 1927 at Rocklick, WV to the late Samuel and Bertha Blankenship Yates. He is survived by his Step-Son: Jim "Kaye" King, Sitka, KY; 2 Step-Daughters: Irma Jean Higginbotham & Ruth "Charlie" White both of Catlettsburg, KY; Brother: Jerry Yates, CA; 3 Sisters: Mary Burns & Marsha Thompson both of CA., Margaret Griffith, Lexington, KY; Step-Grandchildren: 4; Step-Great- Grandchildren: 8. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Monnie Marie Castle, one sister, Georgia Deming Harmon, Paintsville, KY, and one brother, Ravin Yates, Ripley, WV.He was a US Army veteran of both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. Funeral Service at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, Paintsville on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Friends may call Fri. 11 a.m., Paintsville Funeral Home. Rev. Tobe Wheeler officiated. Burial at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Saturday 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Hannah Family cemetery, Hager Hill. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Thursday 5 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 9 a.m.

Loretta McKenzie Knight
Loretta McKenzie Knight, the daughter of the late Homer and Georgia Williams McKenzie, died Saturday in Jasper, TN. There will be no visitation. The body will be brought to the Albert Williams cemetery, Williams Creek, Flat Gap, Thursday afternoon for a private burial by the Tate Funeral Home of Jasper, TN. Arnold Ray "Frank" Blair
Arnold Ray "Frank" Blair, 86, of Sitka, died Monday at his home. He is survived by 2 daughters, locally by Bonnie L. Blair, 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 great-greatgrandchildren; and his dog, Buddy. Gravesite services will be Saturday 11 a.m. at the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Ky. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Friday 1 to 9 p.m. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Whiskers and Wags Animal Rescue by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home at 789-5125. The Paintsville Masonic Lodge 381 F & AM will conduct a Masonic Service Friday 7 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Joyce and Larry Joe Blanton, 1 step-daugther, Holly Lawson; 1 sister, Billie Kay Webb; 2 step-sisters, Lisa Sodervick and Carisa Blanton; and 1 step-brother, Shane Blanton. Funeral services will be Saturday 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery, Staffordsville. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Thursday 3 to 9 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 9 a.m.

Carrol Kestner 73, of Asa Creek died Sunday. He is survived by 3 daughters, Georgetta Spradlin, Raynetta Spradlin, and Caroletta Hayden: 7 grandchildren: 9 great grandchildren: and one sister Billie Lou Caudill. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Ramey; 2 sons, Lowell "Donna" Ramey and Trevor "Amy Kozelek" Ramey; 5 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mary May; 4 brothers, Frank "Kathy" Lemaster, John "Holly" Lemaster, Jerry Lemaster, and locally by David Lemaster; 1 sister-in-law, Cathy Lemaster; and 1 brother-in-law, Kermit "Linda" Ramey. Funeral services will be Saturday 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Saturday 12 noon until time of service.

Danny VanHoose
Danny VanHoose, 49, of Tutor Key, KY, Director of Marketing for Appalachian Wireless, died Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Johnson VanHoose; 2 sons, Eric Scott VanHoose and Jacob Lathan Chaney; aunts, his father, Harry Thomas VanHoose of Tutor Key; uncles cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Monday 1 p.m. at the Coal Run Church of Christ, Coal Run, KY in Pike County, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial cemetery, Staffordsville, KY. Visitation will be Saturday 6 p.m.. at the East Point Church of Christ, East Point, KY. And Sun 4 p.m. At the Johnson County Middle School. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the East Point Church of Christ Building Fund by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home at 789-5125. The arrangements are by the Paintsville Funeral Home.

She is survived by her daughter, Jolena Music; her father, Walker Tackett; her mother, Linda King; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Walker Tackett, Jr. and Emmons Tackett; and 2 sisters, Patty VanHoose and Liz Mason. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial in the Cumbo cemetery, West Van Lear, KY. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Sunday 6 to 9 p.m., Monday & Tuesday 9 a.m. The family has requested that donations be made to the Paintsville Funeral Home to help with the burial expenses.

James Roger Williams, 75, of Meally, KY, died Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Tera Joan Williams; 2 daughters, Sandra Williams and Jacqueline Sue Williams; 1 step-daughter Cheryl "Darrel" Fannin; 2 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 sister, Pat Stinson; 1 brother, Carl Thomas Williams. Memorial Service will be Monday 2:00 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Williams Family cemetery, Meally, KY. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Monday 11 a.m. until time of service. The family has asked for no flowers and donations be made to the Eastern KY Veterans Center by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Dee Wayne White
Dee Wayne White, 94, of Paintsville, husband of Thelma King White, owner of Mel-O-Dee Music, died Friday evening. Surviving her besides his wife, Thelma, is his son, Dee Wayne Bergen White; son-in-law, Parker Holden; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The arrangements are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
