Bruce E. Davis
(1954-2010)
Bruce E. Davis, 55, of Louisa, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
He was born May 1, 1954, in Louisa, the son of O.W. and Delores Crum Davis. He was a disabled coal miner, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Grace Bible Church and loved dirt-track racing.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Davis, and a granddaughter, Lexie Gail Brown.
Survivors include his loving wife, Vena Davis; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bryant Brown of Corinth; three sons, Anthony J. “Tony” Davis and wife Cindy of Grayson and Jerry Franklin Davis and William B. Creekmore, both of Louisa; three sisters, Halley Preece of Ashland, Doris Blackburn of Louisa and Susie Warth of Tampa, Fla.; four brothers, Walter Davis of Williamsburg, Ohio, Harold Davis of Lampassas, Texas, David Davis of Louisa and Joe Davis of Cow Pen, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Michael and Brandon Brown, Bryon Davis and Stevi and Eddie Lau.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. Jason Cassell and the Rev. Bobby Workman. Burial will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa.

Military graveside rites will be by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Aldean M. Parsons
(1921-2010)
After a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s, Aldean Martin Parsons went to join her mother and father in Heaven on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at her home in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
She was born on the left-hand fork of Little Blaine Creek in Lawrence County, Ky., on June 13, 1921, the fifth child of Davis S. Martin and Dora Blackburn Martin. She was a graduate of Louisa High School. Prior to moving to Altamonte Springs, she lived in Titusville, Fla., for more than 38 years, where she was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, insurance/real estate broker, investor and an avid bowler, and can be remembered by the “high scores and series” that were posted on the board of the establishments.
Mrs. Parsons was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Oscar Parsons; four brothers, John Harlan, Homer Sr., William Howard and Davis S. Martin Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Miller.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Davis (Tham) Shannon of Mount Dora, Fla.,and Cratis Maxwell (Melva) Shannon of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Joseph E. (Juanita) Martin of Flatwoods, Ky.; sister, Margaret Pigmon of Louisa, Ky.; sister-in-law, Lois Martin-Sasser of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville.
North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville was in charge of arrangements.
James Blanton
(1951-2010)
James C. Blanton, 59, of Crossville, Tenn., died Saturday in Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
He was born May 25, 1951, in Pikeville.
His wife, Pamela Salyer Blanton, survives.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Yatesville Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation.

Helen Louise Moore
1949-2010
Helen Louise Moore, 60, of Richardson, died Saturday.
She was born June 28, 1949, in Louisa. Her husband, Harm Allen Moore, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Chapel Church. Burial will be in Moore cemetery at Peach Orchard.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at the church.

Arbutus Dalton

Arbutus Dalton, 76, of Louisa, died Saturday.
She was born Aug. 14, 1932. Her husband, Burthan Thomas Dalton Sr., preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at noon Tuesday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Dalton Family cemetery.

SFC Matthew Stephen Sluss-Tiller
1974-2010
SFC Matthew Stephen Sluss-Tiller, 35, of Ft. Bragg, N.C., died Feb. 3, 2010, in Timagera, Pakistan. He was born Feb. 14, 1974, in Ashland, Ky. He was a U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class 96 Civil Affairs and served 18 years in Special Operations Command.
Surviving are his wife, Melissa Dawn Fowler Sluss-Tiller; a daughter, Hannah Nicole Sluss-Tiller; his father, Edward (Von) Tiller of Sevierville, Tenn.; his mother, Jane (Forrest) Blankenship of Sanford, N.C.; and a stepsister, Selena Pack.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Burnaugh Baptist Church in Burnaugh, Ky. by Pastor Pete Miller and Chaplain Lewis.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Velva Stafford Wicke, 65, of Louisa, died Friday in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
She was born Oct. 26, 1945, in Pine Knot.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Johnson cemetery in Fort Gay, W.Va.

Carl Horn Jr.
1933-2010
Carl Horn Jr., 76, of Louisa, died Wednesday in Louisa.
He was born April 14, 1933, at Buffalo Horn. His wife, Elizabeth “Betty K.” Maynard Horn, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Fitzpatrick cemetery.

David K. Scott
1953-2010
David K. Scott died Feb. 8, 2010, at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born Oct. 23, 1953, in Williamson, Ky., to Clifford Scott and Mae Parsons Scott.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Scott; a daughter, Jennifer Gurkin; a son-in-law, James Gurkin; a granddaughter, Savannah Gurkin; daughters Sarah Rose Scott and Danielle Scott; and a large extended family.
He was known by many as Drywall Dave.
Services will be at 6 p.m. today, Feb. 12 at Ashland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4009 Hart St.
Refreshments will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the David Scott Fund in care of SDA Ashland Church.

Sclena Young
1918-2010
Sclena Wellman Young, 91, of Webbville, died Tuesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, on Daniels Creek.
Her husband, Johnnie Young, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Young Family cemetery in Webbville.
