Irene Westerfield Gleim

Irene Westerfield Gleim, 90, of Owensboro, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Hermitage Manor.
She was born in Central City in 1914 to the late Theodore "T.D." and Lula (Petty) Westerfield, who ran a small grocery store in Owensboro at the corner of 9th and Crittenden streets.
Her passions included her family, Third Baptist Church, and traveling and hiking in the Smoky Mountains with her late husband, Ernest Gleim, who died on Dec. 13, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Carl and Ernest.
She will be greatly missed by her two sons, David E. Gleim and his wife, Sharon, of Denver and Paul C. Gleim and his wife, Karen, of Owensboro; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Julius Rice

BEAVER DAM - Julius Rice, 81, of Beaver Dam died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
He retired from Peabody Coal Co. as a coal miner and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Shepherd Rice; two sons, Jimmy W. Rice and Charles D. Rice; four brothers, Carlo Rice, Miller Rice, Kelley Rice and Troy Rice; and a sister, Geneva Parsons.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
Burial: Liberty cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James Howard Dame

James Howard Dame, 77, of Owensboro died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, in Owensboro.
He was born on May 20, 1928, in Muhlenberg County to the late Arthur and Ella (Pryor) Dame.
He moved to Owensboro, where he played basketball for Owensboro Senior High School.
From 1950 to 1953 Howard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
Returning home, he began working for G.E., where he retired after 40 years of service.
Howard was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Mattingly Dame; two sons, Jeff Dame and his wife, Machelle, and Scott Dame and his wife, Amy; and a daughter, Joy Dame of Louisville.
His life was blessed with five grandchildren, Erin Dame, Lindsey Dame, Matt Dame, Zack Dame and Rachel Dame.
He was also survived by a sister, Anna Mae Stevens and her husband, Bill.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro.
Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gail Ann Noffsinger

Gail Ann Noffsinger, 52, of Owensboro died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at her home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1953, to Roy M. and Carolyn Hinger Carter in Piqua, Ohio.
She had attended Owensboro Christian Church and was a homemaker who loved art, pottery and working with stained glass.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Carter, who died in 1991.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, John Noffsinger; children, Shawn Roche of Indianapolis and Nathan and Lori Noffsinger of Owensboro; her mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Louis Curtis of Owensboro; her grandmother, Frances Baker of Piqua, Ohio; stepchildren, John Newton and his wife, Summer, and Mike, Sheila and Crystal Noffsinger, all of Owensboro, Jamie Bradley and her husband, Ryan, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 11 stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Tammy Maddox of Owensboro and Jill Voyles of Duluth, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carlos Lee Brown

CENTERTOWN - Carlos Lee Brown, 88, of Centertown died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Professional Care Health & Rehab in Hartford.
He was born in the Matanzas Community of Ohio County.
He was a member of Centertown United Methodist Church and Welborn Lee Ashby Post of the American Legion.
Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Verna Brown, in 1995.
Survivors include a brother, Lowenston Brown of Hebron, Ind.; a sister, Marie Martin of Cincinnati; and a nephew, Jerry Faith of Centertown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Duke-Bevil Bros.
Funeral Home in Centertown with the Rev. Peggy Smith of Centertown United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Centertown cemetery.
Graveside military rites will be held by the Wesley Phelps-Ohio County Honor Guard.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Lucile 'Mommy-Mommy' Swihart

HAWESVILLE - Lucile "Mommy-Mommy" Swihart, 90, of Hawesville passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport.
She was born on July 6, 1915, in Hancock County.
She was a member of Hawesville Baptist Church.
She retired from General Electric in Tell City, Ind., after 27 years.
Her joy in life was cooking for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Granvyle Freels, in April 1952; and a daughter, Mevilene May Tucker, in November 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirlene Quinn and her husband, Clay, of Hawesville; her grandchildren, Dana Payne and her husband, Ronnie, of Hawesville, Daniel Quinn and his wife, Lora, of Ringgold, Ga., Faith May of Owensboro, Roger May and his wife, Patti, of Owensboro and Ben May and his wife, Dawn, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a son-in-law, Bill Tucker of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Blake and Bethany Payne, Alex and Micah May and Clay and Caitlin Quinn; a niece, Betty and Mike Murphy of California; and a nephew, Bob and Donna Freels of Maryland.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday and after 7 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Donald Allen Hall

Donald Allen Hall, 65, of Philpot left us to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
He was born in Daviess County to the late John William and Josia Louise Penrod Hall.
He retired as a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, Local 633.
He was a born-again Christian and loved spending time with his family.
He also enjoyed woodworking, was quite a craftsman, enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Rose.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Greer, in 1970; and a brother, Kenny Hall, in 1971.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Rose Johnson Hall; two sons and their wives, David and Sandy Hall of Sacramento and Tommy and Shelia Hall of Owensboro; two daughters, Robin Hall of Owensboro and Summer and her husband, Curt, Jackson of Lexington; two stepdaughters, Sherry Reynolds and Ragan Johnson, both of Lewisport; a sister and her husband, Lana and Bobby Chenault of Owensboro; five brothers, Malcolm and his wife, Brenda, Hall, David and his wife, Rita, Hall, Mark and his wife, Tish, Hall and Charles Hall, all of Owensboro, and Steve Hall of Denver; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Dave, Brad, Samantha, Carissa, Jennifer, Chris, Lauren and Brooke, Corlia Beth and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 at Glenn Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Rosehill cemetery.

HARDINSBURG - Barbara Louise Mook, 51, of Webster died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at her home.
She was a member of Clifton Mills Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a Civil Service employee.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence William Mook II; two brothers, Basil and Buford Basham; and four sisters, Lavern Carter, Joyce Allen, Carolyn Allen and Betty Williams.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg.
Burial: Horsley Chapel cemetery near Hardinsburg.
