Mary B. Freels
11/26/2005

Mary B. Freels, 93, of 233 Edwards St., Owensboro, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on April 14, 1912, in Daviess County to the late George and Pearlie Fitzgerald King. She was a member of the Keenagers Group at The Salvation Army, taught Sunday school for over 28 years, was Home League Chaplain for 18 years and a volunteer for League of Mercy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Freels on Nov. 20, 1996; a son, Herbert L. Freels Jr. on Oct. 11, 1995; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Allen and her husband, George, of Cloverport and Mary L. Bell and her husband, William, of Lansdale, Pa.; two sons, Archie T. Freels and his wife, Phyllis, of Rockport, Ind., and James E. Freels and his wife, Nettie, of Owensboro; 12 grandchildren, Robert W. Freels, Cheryl Powell, Wendy Wells, Cindy Goodrid, Lori Webb, Renee Ryan, Jason Bell, Christine Nolan, Sonya Hendricks, Shane Freels, Heather Dant and Natalie Padgett; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at The Salvation Army. Burial will follow in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Monday at The Salvation Army in Owensboro. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Salvation Army, 215 Ewing Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Russell L. Davis

Russell L. Davis, 79, of Owensboro died Nov. 24, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born July 24, 1926, in Daviess County to the late Wesley and Lula Trunnell Davis. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Floretta Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Edna M. Sweat-Davis; a daughter, Phyllis Coons and husband Don of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Carol Ford of Owensboro; a stepson, John Sweat and wife, Debbie, of Florida; a sister, Virginia Higdon of Owensboro; two grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

Martha Miller Weir

Martha Miller Weir, 86, of 2012 Littlewood Drive, Owensboro, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Ohio County a daughter of the late James D. and Gladys Hickey Miller and a graduate of Central City High School, Mrs. Weir was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and it St. Martha Guild, the Woman's Club of Owensboro and was a patroness of the Saturday Musicale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zeno M. Weir Sr., in 1977; and by her stepmother, Alberta Miller.

Survivors include her son, Zeno M. Weir Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Lillian, Ala.; and her brother, James Miller of Magnolia Springs, Ala.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. G. Patterson officiating. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2 until 4 p.m. today and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Margaret P. Roach

Margaret P. Roach, 83, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 18, 1922, in Daviess County. She worked for 40 years at General Electric, was a member of the Baptist faith, enjoyed shopping, dancing, flowers and being around family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Wilbur Lee Roach, in September 1980; three brothers; four sisters; and a grandson.

Survivors include her daughters, Emma Stinnett and her husband, Lanny, of Maceo, Marty Maglinger of Owensboro and Alice Anderson of Fort Gaines, Ga.; grandchildren, Gerald Von "Trey" Anderson III, David Lee Anderson, Leslie "Jana" Anderson, Lisa Ling and Lee Allen Stinnett; great-grandchildren, Andrea and Garret Ling, Hannah, J.J. and Stuart Anderson; one sister, Florence Vanwinkle of Evansville.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Goodfellows Club, c/o , P.O. Box 1480, Owensboro, KY 42302.

Robert Louis Crowe
11/27/2005

Robert Louis Crowe, 79, of 2920 Yale Place, Owensboro, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He retired from the City of Owensboro maintenance department, was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three brothers, George Crowe Jr., Don Quisenberry and Dan Quisenberry; and a sister, Dorothy Quisenberry.

There will be no services or visitation. Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Tony Blandford
11/28/2005

Tony Blandford, 52, of 2807 Hillside Drive, Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County to the late Joseph Kenneth and Joyce Cundiff Blandford. He was employed at Commonwealth Aluminum Co. as a computer technician. He was of the Catholic faith, had attended the Family Worship Center for a number of years and currently had been attending Owensboro Christian Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar, drawing, artwork, UK basketball, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a graduate of the Father Judge Mission Seminary in Virginia and also attended Brescia College. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph H. Conrad Jr., on April 5, 1991.

Surviving is his wife of 29 years, Peggy Conrad Blandford; a son, Kevin Blandford; two daughters, Kim and Megan Blandford, all at home, five brothers, Rodney Blandford of Reo, Ind., and Kenny, Jeff, John and Scott Blandford, all of Owensboro; three sisters, Paula Bennett, Janet Evans and Tracey Rager, all of Owensboro; his mother-in-law and her husband, Mary Conrad and Bob Head of Owensboro; his brother-in-law and his wife, Roger and Joan Conrad of Chicago; many other close friends, including David Docimo of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, with prayers at 6 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John C. 'Jack' Fisher
11/29/2005

John C. "Jack" Fisher, 77, of 728 Booth Ave., Owensboro, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at his home. He was born on July 8, 1928, in Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Thomas Fisher, on Aug. 21, 1985; his mother, Tabitha Jane Calhoun, on Jan. 2, 1990; and by his wife, Joan Clements Fisher, on June 9, 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan. He retired in 1984 as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He served for six years as a city commissioner (1970 to 1975) and served two terms as mayor of Owensboro (1976 to 1980 and 1984 to 1988).

He is survived by two daughters, Amy Sue Fisher of Owensboro and Robin Ann Fisher of Lexington; a son, John Mathew Fisher of Owensboro; and two grandchildren, John Casey Fisher and Mathew F. Fisher, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Dylan Daquan Talbott
11/29/2005

Dylan Daquan Talbott, 18 months, of Owensboro died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Owensboro to Zanya Talbott of Owensboro and Dontae Truitt of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ervin James Jr.

Other survivors include a twin, Dylon Tayshawn Talbott of Owensboro; a sister, Zania Zyara King of Owensboro; his maternal grandmother, Tanya James of Owensboro; his paternal grandparents, Mary Weston and Milton Truitt Jr. (Barbara) of Baltimore; two aunts, Camecia Talbott and Tavocia Board (Dwayne), all of Owensboro; and three great-aunts, Anna Douglas (Irvin), Pat Johnson and Zandra Johnson (Benny), all of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Fourth Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rosehill-Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. McFarland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Woodson 'Woody' Ashton

CALHOUN - Woodson "Woody" Ashton, 87, of Calhoun died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Woodson Edward Ashton was born Sept. 3, 1918, in McLean County to the late Alvey Lee and Etta Mae Leet Ashton, was married to the former Ora Mae Case on March 18, 1939, and was better known as "Woody" by his family and friends. Woodson had retired from the Crounse Corp., was a member of the Evangel Tabernacle in Calhoun and enjoyed coon hunting. His wife of 55 years, Ora Mae Ashton, died April 10, 1994.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Carl and Wanda Ashton of Calhoun and Van and Pat Ashton of Livermore; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Billy Frizzell of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Ida Ashton, Tommy Ashton, Lindel Ashton, Carl Lee Ashton, Stacy Webb, Chera Logsdon, Yvonne Godkin and Randy Frizzell; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John "Jigs" Ashton of Knottsville; and a sister, Tina McDole of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Broadley officiating. Burial will be in Island Community cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Ashton family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at Muster's in Calhoun.

Anna Mae Bryant

Anna Mae Bryant, 96, formerly of 1317 Burlew Blvd., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Born in Decherd, Tenn., to the late Ross and Minnie Woodward Williams, Mrs. Bryant had worked as a housekeeper for the Fuqua, Field and O'Flynn families. Mrs. Bryant attended Sweeney Street Baptist Church and loved cooking, entertaining, shopping and riding the bus. She had attended Compassionate Care Adult Day Care and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bryant Sr.; a daughter, Stella Rose Bryant; and two brothers, J.D. Williams and Michael Williams.

Survivors include a son, George W. Bryant Jr. of Owensboro; a daughter, Daisy Bryant James and her husband, Roy, of Owensboro; grandchildren Keith L. Bryant, Georgia A. Bryant and Shannon R. Burroughs; great-grandchildren Keith L. Bryant II, Keasha Bryant, Macee A. Bryant, AnnaBelle Bryant, Cheyenne Bryant, Kanada Bryant, Chasity Cline, Phillip Murphy Jr., Tamara Murphy and Dante McHenry; several nieces and nephews; and a very good family friend, Paul Worth of Lexington.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Compassionate Care Adult Day Care Center.

Eugene Thomas Douglas

HARDINSBURG - Eugene Thomas Douglas, 73, of Hardinsburg died there Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. He retired from civil service and was a member of Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. Douglas; two sons, Dennis Douglas and Christopher Douglas; four daughters, Carolyn Peyton, Tina Douglas, Laura Ann Douglas and Gina Douglas Elam; a brother, Charles Douglas; and two sisters, Margaret Cargle and Louise Davis.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church in Hardinsburg. Burial: Owen-Gray cemetery in McQuady. Visitation: From 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Memorial contributions: Hospice of Central Kentucky.
