Donald Wayne Ward

ELKTON - Donald Wayne Ward, 68, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at his home in Elkton, where he had resided since 1993. He was a member of St. Susan's Parish, where he served as a council member, a deanery representative and a eucharistic minister. He did volunteer work at the Todd County Inter-faith Community Center and Senior Citizens Center. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Whitesville and an Air Force veteran. His love for flying continued throughout his life and he became an ultra-light pilot during his retirement. He retired from Alcoa after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Michelle, on Dec. 24, 1971; his parents, Dester and Catherine Ward; and a sister, Norma Westerfield.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Frances; the mother of his children, Barbara Ann Ward; a daughter, Donna Ann Younce of Sugar Grove, N.C.; three sons, Michael Wayne Ward, Patrick Byron Ward and Barry Shawn Ward, all of Owensboro; two stepsons, Gary W. Vessels of Phoenix and Kenneth Vessels of Owensboro; four brothers, Ralph Ward of Owensboro, Victor Ward of Philpot, Steve Ward of Lexington and David Ward of Evansville; seven sisters, Judy Hardesty, Esther Blandford, Denise Ward and Veatrice Clark, all of Owensboro, Wanda Rickard of Central City, Millie Hines of Cincinnati and Harriet Thomas of Louisville; four grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Herbert Dale 'Herbie' Stewart

HARTFORD - Herbert Dale "Herbie" Stewart, 63, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Ohio County and was a member of Hartford Church of Christ and United Mine Workers of America. He was a Kentucky Colonel, had served in the Kentucky National Guard and was a member of Hartford Volunteer Fire Department. He had worked for Peabody Coal Co. at River Queen Surface Mine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Stewart, in 1989; and a son, Jeffery Dale Stewart, in 1966.
Survivors include a daughter, Edra Shanon Stewart of Hartford; three brothers, Billy Glenn Stewart, Larry Stewart and David Stewart, all of Indiana; five sisters, Elizabeth Thienes and Toni Kavanaugh, both of Hartford, Patsy Lawrence of Richmond and Delores Carter and Catherine Jesse, both of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford. Military services will be held at graveside.
Sue Matthews Hedden

FORDSVILLE - Sue Matthews Hedden, 74, of Fordsville, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at home. The Breckinridge County native was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk, pianist and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a retired cafeteria manager of Fordsville School and a member of Fordsville Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Toni Carol Hedden, in 2001.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Hubert Hedden of Fordsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Sheila Hedden Ridner and Gary Ridner of Nashville; two brothers, Norman Matthews of Owensboro and Hugh Matthews Sr. of Brandenburg; six sisters, Geraldine Schneider of Falls of Rough, Martha Huff of Fordsville, Beverly Risley, Diane Wilson and Sandra Johnson, all of Louisville, and Priscilla Fouts of Dickson, Tenn.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pattiville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Joseph 'Harold' Fuller

CLOVERPORT - Joseph "Harold" Fuller, 79, of Cloverport died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was a manager at Honey Locust Valley Farm for 35 years and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Fuller and Robert Lee Fuller; two daughters, Bonnie DeJarnette and Joyce Haycraft; two brothers, Everett Fuller and Raymond Fuller; and two sisters, Esther Hamilton and Anna Hill.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial: Pisgah cemetery. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Burns Funeral Home and after 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
John Edward Monaghan

CENTRAL CITY - John Edward Monaghan, 83, of 611 St. James Way, Central City, formerly of San Diego, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville. He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Muhlenberg County. He was self-employed in janitorial service and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four children, Sally A. (Frederic D.) Floberg of Winnetka, Ill., Patricia J. (Rhodric C.) Hackman of McLean, Va., John E. Jr. (Mary) Monaghan of Long Beach, Calif., and Stephen P. (Cindy) Monaghan of Carlsbad, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Fred, Dan and Susan Floberg, Courtney and Scott Hackman and Mitchel, Sommer and Sierra Monaghan; nine siblings, Donald P. (Marlene) Monaghan, Martin A. (Betty) Monaghan and Agnes (late Thomas) Drea, all of Central City, Sister Michael Ann Monaghan and Sister Mary Renee' Monaghan, both of Mount St. Joseph, Sister June Monaghan of Nazareth, Kathleen (late Jerry) La Buda of Francisville, Ind., Rose (late Arnold) Mills of Lexington and Ann (late George) Boarman of Boonville, Ind.; and 24 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Ben Luther officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Central City. Glendon 'Bubby' Darrell Harrison

FORDSVILLE - Glendon "Bubby" Darrell Harrison, 71, of Fordsville passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at his home. He was born in Ohio County and was a disabled veteran. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed playing bingo with his friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Lockheart, in September 1995; and his father, Edward Harrison.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Harrison, and wife, Lisa, of Deanefield; two daughters, Becky Daugherty and Sandra Horn, both of Fordsville; the mother of his children, Kathryn Harrison; a brother, Ronald Harrison, and wife, Monnie, of Dundee; two sisters, Regina Smith and husband, Wyman, of Dundee and Marcia Basham and husband, Bill, of Dale, Ind.; six grandchildren, Nathan Harrison, Chris Sorrels, Josh Daugherty, Jennifer Harrison, Colby Sorrels and Nicole Daugherty; a great-grandson, Jayden Christopher Todd Sorrels; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, with burial in Midkiff cemetery in Dundee. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

GREENVILLE - Mevalean Sweeney Greene, 68, of 1332 Kentucky 831, Greenville, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at 1:31 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Todd County, the daughter of Charlie Sidney Sweeney and Gracie Mae Jones Sweeney. She was a member of Landmark Assembly of God Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Betty Sue Mayes.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jewel Roosevelt Greene of Greenville; a son, Robert Wayne (Jennifer) Greene of Cadiz; two stepsons, Christopher Greene of Central City and Leonard Greene of Greenville; and three grandchildren, Allison, Austin and Andrew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, April 16, at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Autrey Moore. Burial will be in Joines Chapel cemetery in Clifty. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 15, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

DUNMOR - Wayne Dale Fox, 61, of Dunmor died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Poplar Grove Rest Home in Greenville. He worked as a railroad laborer and was a member of Dunmor Church of Christ and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include four brothers, Frank Jewel Fox, George Russell Fox, Lyndall Ray Fox and Harold Dean Fox; and two sisters, Elaine Steinbrink and Myrtle Mae Miller.
Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Home Inc. in Lewisburg. Burial: Mount Moriah Church of Christ cemetery. Visitation: After 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Kollenberg Fantini

Elizabeth Kollenberg Fantini, wife of the late Walter J. Fantini, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005, in her home at 926 Cottage Drive, following a prolonged illness. Born in Owensboro's Germantown district on May 6, 1907, to Arria and Frederick Kollenberg, she graduated from Owensboro High School and afterward attended business school. As a young woman, she worked for the law firm of Cary, Miller and Kirk as a legal secretary, until becoming a devoted wife and mother. She was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Live Wire Sunday School class. Her volunteer work included many years at the Help Office and Wendell Foster's Campus for Developmental Disabilities.
Elizabeth was a fun-loving individual with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved a good-natured joke and was known to play a few on friends and family. Regarded as the best cook in the world by her family, she also devoted much time and effort to hand-making exquisite needlepoint and quilts.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Elaine Fantini of Buffalo, N.Y.; her daughter and son-in-law, Elissa and Keith Sanders of Owensboro; her granddaughter, Ashley Sanders of Lexington; grandsons, Matthew Fantini of Buffalo, Christopher Fantini of Rockport, Ind., and John Fantini of Louisville; five great-grandchildren; a nephew, Rus Kindrick of Centerville, Ohio; nieces, Sally Ekkens of Kettering, Ohio, and Lori Kindrick of Wilmington, N.C.; and her devoted longtime caregiver, Mary Incontro.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Michael Marx.
Ida Mae Wilson

Ida Mae Wilson, 89, of One Park Place, Owensboro, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Daviess County to the late Adam and Emma Moore Young. She was a retired seamstress with Bacon's Department Store, was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Sunday school at One Park Place. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano and loved doing things for others, especially cooking. She was preceded in death by her children's father, Hallie A. Wilson, who died Jan. 6, 1993.
She is survived by a son, Donald R. Wilson of Mount Sterling; two daughters, Marilyn Shown of Owensboro and Brenda Wray of Brownstown, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Donna Sue Wilson, Steve Wilson, Michelle Lee, Tammie Collins, Karen Shelton, Nona Latham, Tamara Hancock, Dannelle Snider, Anthony Worth and Glynis Percifield; and 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Camp and Beulah Hester, both of Owensboro.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mary Jane Tong, 58, of 1730 Hughes Ave., Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2005, at the Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess County and was a member of SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. She was very dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving is her mother, Francis B. Slaton; five brothers, Charlie and wife, Beth Tong, Mike Tong, Steve and wife, Sally Tong, Wayne and wife, Kim Tong, and Danny and wife, Regina Tong; a half brother, John and wife, Kim Slaton, all of Owensboro; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Carmel Home Chapel, with burial following in St. Anthony cemetery in Browns Valley.
