Robert Glenn 'Bob' Morrison Sr.

Robert Glenn "Bob" Morrison Sr., 78, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Owensboro and was an avid golfer, a member of Hillcrest Golf Association and a diehard Atlanta Braves fan. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Co. in 1988 after 28 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. Morrison, in 1990; his parents, John D. and Alberta Morrison; and a brother, John D. Morrison Jr.
Surviving is a son and his wife, Glenn and Susan Morrison Jr. of Owensboro; three daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Kenny Slagle of Louisville and Mary and Jeff Miller and Sherry and Totsie Fulkerson, all of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Melissa and Meredith Morrison, Vanessa Slagle, Ryan and Taylor Miller, Matt, Nick and Chase Simon; and a brother, Dwayne and his wife, Patricia Morrison, of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Orene N. Mobley

LEWISPORT - Orene N. Mobley, 80, of Heartland Villa, Lewisport, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Oct. 16, 1924, to the late John L. and Halamay Newman. She retired in 1987 from Ford Motor Co. in Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Service Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Mobley; and a sister, Betty Kennedy.
Survivors include two sons, John (Becky) of Maceo and James (Robin) of Germantown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Seth, Sarah, Wes, Ginny and Jimmy; a sister, Ilma Peterson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memphis Funeral Home, East Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park in Memphis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BEAVER DAM - Gaston Hayes, 76, of Beaver Dam died Monday, March 7, 2005, at home. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and attended Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Beaver Dam.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Hayes and Michael Hayes; and two daughters, Linda Gaby and Deborah "Debbie" Hayes.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial: Calvary Hill Church cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Thomas Raymond Carnal

MURRAY - Thomas Raymond Carnal, 95, of Murray, formerly of Slaughters, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. He was a native of Webster County, where he was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky and a member of Slaughters Masonic Lodge No. 347 and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a charter member of Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Cleo (Watson) Carnal; two daughters, Judy Wood of Owensboro and Norma Sue and Richard Smith of Murray; a sister-in-law, Marie O'Neal of Texas; five grandchildren, Terry Smith, Gaydera Purcell, David Smith, Kim Wood Roberts and Wayne Wood; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Tompkins Funeral Home in Slaughters, Hanson chapel. Burial will be in Slaughters cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. David Alexander and the Rev. Charles Bazzell will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Sarah Marie Swift

Sarah Marie Swift, 84, of 769 Sandra Lane, Owensboro, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Owensboro. She was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Daviess County to the late Finley and Edna (Camp) Cook. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a member of the W.M.U. She enjoyed word-find puzzles and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mack Swift; by her son, Dwain Swift; by a brother, William C. Cook; and by two sisters, Virginia Kurth and Minnie Mae Onstott.
She is survived by her daughter, Natomi Russell of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Del Willis and wife, Amy, Catrina Kelly and husband, Billy, Alan Russell and wife, Kelley, and Carissa Swift, Chanda Swift and Sarah Swift; five great-grandchildren; and by a brother, James C. "J.C." Cook of Philpot.
Services are at noon Friday, March 11, at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Thomas H. Shelton

Thomas H. Shelton, 70, of Owensboro died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. Mr. Shelton was the former owner of Shelton's Camper Sales. He was a member of Dawson Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. He was a former member of Owensboro Hillbilly Camping Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Virginia D. Shelton; two daughters, Donna Morgan of Virginia and Karen Shelton of Owensboro; a stepson, Marvin L. Ellison of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Connie Thomason of Guthrie, Okla.; four grandchildren, Melanie, Ryan, Jason and Melissa; three stepgrandchildren, Lana C. Murray, Leah Bess Murray and Cheryl Ann Ellison; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mittie Mango of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Dawson Baptist Church.
Clyde Edward Moore

CENTRAL CITY - Clyde Edward Moore, 76, of 509 Park St., Central City, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his home. He was born May 21, 1925, in Muhlenberg County and was retired owner and operator of Central City Lumber Co. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Green River General Baptist Church in Central City and Central City Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a son, Joey Moore in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Moore of Central City; a son, Brent (Dana) Moore of Central City; a daughter, Sheila (Ernie) Bullock of Central City; and five grandchildren, Mark, Stacey, Elisha, Kaleb and Kyle.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.
Jeffrey L. Flint

Jeffrey L. Flint, 53, of 136 Boothfield Road, Owensboro, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born May 15, 1951, in Newfane, N.Y., and graduated from Hilton High School in Hilton. He received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y. He entered the U.S. Army in 1975 and worked in White House communications along with the Secret Service under presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan. He worked in military intelligence while serving in Germany, Korea and many locations in the United States. He was awarded numerous medals and commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Service Badge, Army Achievement Medal and several others. He retired from the National Security Agency in 1996. He was property manager at the Owensboro YMCA and a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Valorie Young Flint; four daughters, Angela Flint Edmonson, Tiffany Flint, Kristi Flint and Whitney Flint; and a grandson, Javin Flint, all of Owensboro; his father and mother, Clyde and Grace Flint of Hendersonville, N.C.; a brother, Mark Flint of Hollie, N.Y.; a sister, Nancy Burns of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Jane Young of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, and burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW No. 696. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Robert F. 'Tiny' Widner Jr.

CENTRAL CITY - Robert F. "Tiny" Widner Jr., 74, of 402 Golden Tide Ave., Central City, died at 12:12 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born April 20, 1930, in Bell County and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. He retired from Peabody Coal Co. as a coal miner. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy and Sudie Marie; his parents, Robert Sr. and Leady Widner; five brothers, Liege, Dewey, Alford, Frank and Charles Widner; and two sisters, Ruby Fox and Mary Ruth Widner.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Christine King Widner of Central City; three sons, Jerry Widner of Beaver Dam, Dewey Widner of Hyden and Rodney Widner of Beaver Dam; four daughters, Margaret Smith and Mary Middleton, both of Hyden, Suzanne Johnson of Beaver Dam and Rhonda Lewis of Irvine; three stepsons, Carroll Williams of Greenville and Stevie Williams and David Williams, both of Beaver Dam; a stepdaughter, Joan Cook of Beaver Dam; 40 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Widner of Coats; and two sisters, Cleo Shelton of Agee and Frances Saylor of Ohio.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Willa Mae Meek

LEWISBURG - Willa Mae Meek, 89, of 85 Tyson Lane, Lewisburg, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at 5:45 a.m. at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Auxier in Floyd County, the daughter of Proctor Walters and Maudie Boyd Walters. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Lowmansville and was a homemaker and a mother. She loved to quilt and was a competitive quilter, winning many ribbons. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Devon Walter Meek; and three sisters, Ora Beatrice Brickey, Gusta Castle and Imagene Castle.
She is survived by three daughters, Christine Tyson of Lewisburg, Jewell Harwood of Tampa, Fla., and Maudie (Joe) Fanti of Cambridge, Ohio; three sons, Donald (Diane) Meek of Mason, Ohio, Carlos Dean (Barbara) Meek of Walton, Ind., and Kenneth Lee (Tana) Meek of West Van Lear; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville, by Chaplain Bobby Ward. Burial will be in Graham cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 15, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lofton Maddox

BEAVER DAM - Lofton Maddox, 80, of Rockport, Ky., died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born April 3, 1924, in Beaver Dam to Thomas Murray Maddox and Kitty Lee. He retired as a heavy equipment operator in Akron, Ohio, and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church near Beaver Dam. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha "Blackie" Maddox, on July 23, 1998; a son, Brice Maddox, in 1954; and a brother, Maurice Maddox, in 1954.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Pam Brady of Akron; two brothers, Lindel Maddox of Bradenton, Fla., and Joe Maddox of Akron; a sister, Juanita Erwin of Beaver Dam; two sisters-in-law, Emma Key and husband, Acie, of Rockport and Marguerite Dunn and husband, Marvin, of Roseville, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Fairmont cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
