James 'Jim' Russell Wade

OLMSTEAD - James "Jim" Russell Wade 74 of Olmstead, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2004, in Fairfax, Va., while on vacation with his children.
He was born Oct. 30, 1930, to the late Russell and Nell Wade in LaGrange. He retired from South Central Bell in 1983. He was a Korean War Veteran and member of Bethany Church of Christ in Olmstead. He was a former member of Owensboro Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by is wife, Pat Wade, in 1993.
Survivors include his children: Margaret (Gerald) Durrett of Pensacola, Fla., Hugh (Lauren) Wade of Nashville, Nanette (Keith) Fuqua of Louisville: grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Durrett of Bowling Green, Heather (Rod) Williams of Pensacola, James Wade and Grace Wade, both of Nashville, Amy (Greg) Gilmore of Lexington, Joshua Fuqua of Louisville; great grandchildren, Jazmin & Elijah Williams of Pensacola and Keaton Gilmore of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard H. Dawson of Chapel Hill, N.C., Michael H. (Carol) Dawson of Bakersfield, Calif., June D. (Nelson) Lyne of Olmstead, Annell Sciortino of Nashville, Janet (Dennis) Kientz of Adairville.
Funeral services were held at Memorial Funeral Home in Russellville on November 11, 2004, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery in Russellville.

Harlan T. Floyd, 82, of One Park Place, Owensboro, formerly of Philpot, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his home. He was born in Ohio County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle I. and Lillie Ann Rice Floyd; and a son, Glenn Floyd in 1987. He was a deacon of Dawson Baptist Church and was retired from Spurriers Market in Whitesville. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Edna Phillips Floyd; a son, Jackie Floyd and wife Susan of Philpot; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Michael Rohrer of Philpot and Bonnie and Glen Wilson of Park City; eight grandchildren, Glenna Sexton, Tim Wilson, Michelle Vance, Tracy Floyd, Jerry Floyd, Lori Green, Dawn Shouse and Heather Hoover; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dawson Baptist Church with burial in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Expression of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice.

James A. Marshall Sr. of 1022 W. 2nd St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his home. He retired from C.W. Blakely's & Sons Trucking Co. of New Haven, Conn.
Survivors include a son, James Marshall Jr.

Lola Mae Wester

GREENVILLE - Lola Mae Wester, 80, of Greenville died there Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Ward and Diane Dukes; and a sister, Essie Richardson.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial: Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Martha F. Arnold

Martha F. Arnold, 83, of Rumsey died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a member of Rumsey United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Bubby" Arnold.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robin Cobb of Rumsey; a son, Tony Arnold of Rumsey; a sister, Minnie Cessna of Rumsey; three granddaughters, Tammy Cobb, Paula Cobb and Robert Kedenburg and Jody and Sean Dysinger, all of Owensboro; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ashes will be placed alongside her husband. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Rumsey United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The family requests that condolences be made in the form of contributions to the Goodfellows Club.
William Hershel Dunning

Mr. William Hershel Dunning of Madisonville died at 8:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1931, in Christian County he was the son of the late Raymond Eugene Dunning and Beulah Lester Dunning. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Jean Dunning. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Earlington; a member of E.W. Turner Masonic Lodge in Earlington and American Legion Post 6. Mr. Dunning was a graduate of Murray State University where he was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Alpha Tau Omega fraternities. He was a former principal at Earlington Schools, South Hopkins High School for 13 years and retired as principal from Adolescent Day Treatment Facility. He was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and president of the Hopkins County Retired Teachers Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Linda Dunning of Madisonville; two daughters, Donna Mattingly of San Diego and Debbie Dunning of Madisonville; one sister, Helen Lee of Owensboro; and one granddaughter, Sarah Mattingly.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bros. David Simpson and Bobby Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia cemetery in Christian County. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Barnett, Roger Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Bernadine Grace, Dale Lisembee, Mark Lisembee and Joe West.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Mahr Cancer Center or Green River Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

FALLS OF ROUGH - Margaret Owen, 75, of Falls of Rough died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Survivors include her husband, R.S. Owen Jr.; three sons, R.S. Owen III, Robert Thomas Owen and James Samuel Owen; a daughter, Dr. Virginia Owen Poe; two brothers, Leonard Smiley and Sam Smiley Jr.; and two sisters, Lydia Robertson and Nell Moorman.

Beulah C. Whitmer

SACRAMENTO - Beulah C. Whitmer, 94, of 5500 State Route 81, Sacramento died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Muhlenberg County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Eastern Star for over 60 years, Bremen Homemakers Club and Rebecca's Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbern Whitmer.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.R. and Nancy Whitmer of Bremen; a grandson, Kevin Whitmer; a sister, Naoma and R.W. Patterson of Elizabethtown; a niece and her husband, Brenda and Judie Duncan; and a great-niece, Joy Duncan.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CLOVERPORT - Ola Pierce, 88, of Cloverport died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Breckinridge Nursing Facility. She retired from American Olean Tile and was a member of Cloverport United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, William Pierce.

Mary Elizabeth Ford Edwards

GREENVILLE - Mary Elizabeth Ford Edwards, 37, of 983 Friendship Road, Greenville, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at 4:45 a.m. at her home in a house fire with her husband and son. She was born Jan. 6, 1967, in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Charles Glenn "Bud" Ford and Louise Jernigan Ford. She was a manager at Country Hearth Inn in Central City. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Mandle Edwards; a son, Joseph Michael Zackery; and a brother, Dana Mathew Ford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Gary's Funeral Home, by the Rev. T.H. Davis and the Rev. Phillip Bennett. Burial will be in New Harmony cemetery in Bremen.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Zackery of Greenville; her parents, Charles Glenn "Bud" Ford and Louise Jernigan Ford of Greenville; a brother, Anthony Glenn Ford of Greenville; two sisters, Vickie Denise Browning and Melissa Morris, both of Bremen; several nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Dillon of Drakesboro and Kelli Smith of Greenville; and three stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call today, Dec. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Memorial Fund, c/o First Kentucky Bank.
