CENTRAL CITY - Anna Louise Casebier, 79, of 12334 U.S. 62 E., Central City, died at 10:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born in Georgia on Dec. 27, 1924, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Graham Baptist Church.
Survivors include a companion, Guy Peters of Central City; two sons, Grady Roberts Jr. of Greenville and Alfred Roberts of Russellville; five daughters, Ellon Rolley of Graham, Martha Ann Obenchain of Dunmor, Betty Irene Kelly of Frankfort, Kathy Regina Casebier of Mayfield and Shelia Bailey of White Plains; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Williams of Mapelton, Ga.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Terry Groves officiating. Burial will be in Graham Hill cemetery in Graham. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Angela Fern Bishop

CROMWELL - Angela Fern Bishop, 30, of Cromwell died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. She was a homemaker and a member of New Assembly Church in Hartford.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen C. Bishop; a son, James Lee Tines; a daughter, Gracie May Bishop; three brothers, L.J. Henderson, Gilbert Henderson Jr. and Don Henderson; and two sisters, Mary Nalley and Melissa Milam.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial: Bald Knob cemetery near Cromwell. Visitation: From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Betty June Whitney

CENTRAL CITY - Betty June Whitney, 70, of 331 North Eighth St., Central City died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Luzerne General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronny Lynn Whitney; two brothers, Dennis McGinley and Jimmy McGinley; and two sisters, Maria Walker and Geleta Harper.
Survivors include five sons, Dale Ray Whitney of San Antonio, Michael Wayne Whitney of Illnois, Gary Keith and Kimberly Whitney of Madisonville, Richard Lee Whitney of Central City and Michael and Tammy Harper of Beechmont; two daughters, Phyllis Diane and Jete Edmisson of Greenville and Angela Michelle Whitney of Central City; grandchildren, Dale Whitney Jr., Kristin Whitney, Morgan Whitney, Trevor Whitney, Travis Warman and Jacob Edmisson; two great-grandchildren, Zachery Whitney and Lance Whitney; a brother, Luther McGinley Jr. of Nashville; and a sister, Barbara McGinley of Owensboro.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Joe Pharris officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John S. Mooney

GREENVILLE - John S. Mooney, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Webster County and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenville, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as post commander four times, served as third district commander one time and state officer two times. He was a member of the Owensboro American Legion and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Acra and Clara Mooney; and a daughter, Pat Flegle.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mooney of Greenville; one daughter, Betty Jon Roll of Greenville; three grandchildren, Amy Quercelino of Newburgh, Ind., Sarah Embry of Central City and Gwen Roll of Greenville; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Mooney of Madisonville; and one sister, Freda Asher of Dixon.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with burial in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday after 8 a.m. at the funeral home.

Coleman Reynolds Jeffers

Dr. Coleman Reynolds Jeffers, 77, of 2018 Stratford Drive, Owensboro, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Frankfort to the late Howard B. and Sarah (Hancock) Jeffers. He retired as an associate professor in Spanish at the University of Iowa.
Survivors include a sister, Ann Jeffers Eades of Owensboro; a niece, Sally (Steve) Ham of Owensboro; two nephews, Michael (Susan) Eades of Nashville and Kenneth Eades of Charlottesville, Va.; several great-nieces and great-nephews and also survived by many friends in Iowa City.
Services are at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. today and from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

PADUCAH - William Terry Gifford, 45, of Paducah died at 12:07 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Lourdes Hospital. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and senior manager of vessel operations with Ingram Barge Co. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Reed and Fannie Jones and Franklin Elkins; and his paternal grandparents, William B. and Delphia Gifford.
Survivors include his wife, Marita Goatley Gifford of Paducah; a daughter, Brandy Gifford McCoy and husband Ryan of Mount Sterling; a stepdaughter, Candice Dupree of Paducah; a stepson, Brent Dupree of Lexington; two sisters, Rhonda Flynn of Princeton and Regina Simmons of Owensboro; a brother, Mark Gifford of Gilbertsville; two stepsisters, LaShell Payne of Omaha, Neb., and Tonia Nelson of Calvert City; a grandson, Ryan Chandler McCoy of Mount Sterling; his father, William "Bill" Gifford of Calvert City; his mother and stepfather, Joann Elkins Galloway and Bobby Galloway of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah with the Rev. Jason Browning officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Viola Ferrell

HOPKINSVILLE - Viola Ferrell, 69, of Hopkinsville died there Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at 11:28 a.m. She was born March 25, 1935 in Muhlenberg County to the late Harry Duvall and Gladys (Poyner) Duvall and retired after over 28 years as office manager from International Shoe Co. in Hopkinsville. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Leane Griffith in 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Ferrell of Hopkinsville; a son, Marcus Wayne Ferrell of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Doyle Duvall of Elcajon, Calif., and Eldred Duvall of Eustis, Fla.; two sisters, Elvie Hudnall of Owensboro and Lucille Carter of South West City, Mo.; and a grandchild.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Maddux Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with the Rev. John Christian and the Rev. Bob Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Hopkinsville. Deanna Ada Best

CONCORD, N.C. - Deanna Ada Best, formerly of Owensboro, passed away early Thursday morning, Aug. 26 at Northeast Medical Center in Concord. She was born on Feb. 14, 1944, in Canton, Ohio, the youngest of four children to Doris and George Riddle. She was a nurse at Doctor's Hospital and Mercy Hospital before she began doing physicals for insurance companies.
Survivors include one brother, Randy (Linda) Riddle of Boston; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth J. [Trey] (Kristi) Best and Jason E. Best of Concord, Steven G. (Laura) Best of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer R. (Jeff) Pruett of Gastonia, N.C.; two grandchildren, Stephen Best and Marissa Best, both of Charlotte; friend and former husband, Kenneth J. Best Jr. of Concord; several nieces and nephews; and her special sister, Ann Zimmer of Canton.

Marty J. Bartlett, 44, of Knottsville died Aug. 26, 2004, at home. He worked at Barton Brands in Owensboro.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Kelly; two sons, Bradley Steven Bartlett of Owensboro and Kyle Martin Bartlett at home; a brother, Jeff Bartlett of Fordsville; his mother, Therese Payne of Owensboro; his father, Thomas Robert Bartlett of Hawesville; and a granddaughter.

Lillie Myrl Barnett

Lillie Myrl Barnett, 76, of Owensboro died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Survivors include three daughters, Pam Reed, Sue Harris and Vanessa Moore, all of Central City; a brother, Archie Mayes of Hammond, Ind.; a sister, Brenda Ward of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Mayes of Calhoun; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seymore and Daisy Mayes; and a brother, Seymore Mayes Jr. in September 2002.
Services are at noon Monday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association.

PADUCAH - Carl Ray Arnold, 67, of Paducah, formerly of Calhoun, died at 7 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at his home. He was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church, Grand Lodge F&AM of Tennessee, Savannah, Tenn., Masonic Lodge, Rizpah Shrine Chapter of Madisonville and was a retired towboat and port captain with the Crounce Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Crunk Arnold of Paducah; two daughters, Kathy Arnold Lee and husband, Ricky Lee, of Paducah and Carla Raye Williams and husband, Tony Williams, of Savannah; five grandchildren, Lennie Farmer, Jason Mallette, Darrick Lee, Deanna Adkinson and Daphne Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Shaw of Sacramento, Peggy Hendrix of Rumsey and Laura Elwood of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers, Glenn, Eddie and Curt Arnold, all of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gurden Lee and Muriel Cobb Arnold; and a daughter, Kandance Lee Arnold.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
