Motee 'Tootsie' Deal Liggins

Motee "Tootsie" Deal Liggins, 86, of 2509 W. 8th St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the home of one of her daughters in Owensboro. The Owensboro native was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, former member of King's Daughters of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her husband, Jessie Liggins Sr., died in 1982.
Survivors include four sons, Jesse Liggins Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, William O. Liggins of Owensboro, Gerry Liggins of San Diego and Bruce Liggins of St. Louis; six daughters, Florence Black, Patricia Brown, Viola Young, Phyllis Samuels and Rita Webster, all of Owensboro, and Ava Marie McFarland of Madisonville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ben Deal, Sherman Deal and Eugene Deal, all of Owensboro; two sisters, Modestine Howard of Owensboro and Shirley Clark of Evansville; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins.
Arrangements are pending at Young's Funeral Home in Owensboro.
George Lewis Jones

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - George Lewis Jones, 69, of Palm Springs died there Monday, Oct. 15, 2001. The Owensboro native retired from Inland Steel after 28 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Angelia Carol Jones; a son, Marvin Jones of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mericia Jones of Portage, Ind.; two grandsons; three brothers; and a sister.
Memorial services are at 3 p.m. today at Griffith Free Methodist Church in Griffith, Ind.
James L. Morris

LIVERMORE - James L. Morris, 71, of Livermore died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The McLean County native retired from the Army as sergeant first class and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He enjoyed fishing and antique cars.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Miles Morris; a son, James F. Morris of Livermore; two daughters, Lisa D. Staves and Renita F. Casey, both of Livermore; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Terry Chambers of Calhoun; four sisters, Betty Morris of Calhoun, Linda Gish of Bremen, Judy Logsdon of Rumsey and Carolyn Chambers of Madisonville.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore with full military honors conducted by the 101st Airborne Division. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

TOMPKINSVILLE - James T. "Jim Tom" Miller, 78, of Tompkinsville died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after heart surgery and a brief illness. The Monroe County native taught vocational agriculture to adult farmers for 33 years in Monroe County and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a charter member of Calvary Christian Church and ministered in the county jail ministry. A son, Tim Lee Carter Miller, died in 1951.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Justyne Miller; a son, Ricky Miller of Tompkinsville; two daughters, Diane Scantland of Bowling Green and Joyce Miller of Owensboro; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, George Miller of Tompkinsville, Jack Miller of Franklin, Ind., David Miller of Georgetown, Ind., and Roger Miller of Bowling Green; and three sisters, Juanita Meredith of Bowling Green, Alicia Bowman of Tompkinsville and Sue Perkins of Harrodsburg.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Burial will be in Skaggs Creek cemetery near Tompkinsville. Visitation is from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Girls Incorporated of Owensboro.
Charles R. 'Charlie' Duneghy

Charles R. "Charlie" Duneghy, 49, of Owensboro died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native worked at the Opportunity Center Workshop. He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the Owensboro Civitan. He enjoyed Special Olympics, bowling, Camp Marc and socializing with friends.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Duneghy of Owensboro; five brothers, James L. Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas J. Duneghy of San Diego, Carroll E. Duneghy and Langston H. Duneghy, both of San Francisco, and Hugh M. Duneghy of Evansville; five sisters, Verna L. Johnson, Jorene D. Goodwin, Sylvia D. Reed and Phoebe D. James, all of Owensboro, and Marianne D. Williams of Desoto, Texas; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Norbert A. Limbach, 70, of Boca Raton, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native retired from Inland Steel and graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1950.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Lois Hayden Limbach; two sons, Paul Limbach and Roger Limbach; two daughters, Nancy Rolls and Susan Garrison; six grandchildren; and a brother, Norman Limbach.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 16, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton. Kraeer Funeral Home in Boca Raton was in charge of arrangements.

CALHOUN - Lucille Thompson Peak, 81, of Calhoun died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of Glenville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school was president of the Missionary Society, and enjoyed volunteering in the community, traveling and organizing family and school reunions. She was a member of Glenville Homemakers and vice president of McLean County Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Adrian Peak; a son, David Adrian Peak of Glenville; a daughter, Ronda Peak Hawes of Marion, Iowa; four granddaughters, a great-grandson; two brothers, Tilford Thompson of Pleasant Ridge and Gene Thompson of Robinson, Ill.; and a sister, Amy Neubaurer of Owensboro.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenville Baptist Church in Utica. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Donald Clarence Maloney, 83, of 2029 York Drive, Owensboro, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Owensboro. The Detroit native was a sales manager in clothing manufacturing. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. He was past exault ruler of the Redford Elks and enjoyed bowling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leora Maloney, in 1994; and a daughter, Phyllis Lynn Maloney.
Survivors include his wife, VIrginia Burden Maloney; two sons, Donald Lee Maloney of Florida and Robert K. Maloney of Michigan; two granddaughters; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Rosehill Chapel of Peace. Burial will be in Rosehill-Garden of Valor cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. FORDSVILLE - Flora Mae Keown, 94, of Fordsville died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Fordsville Nursing & Rehab Center. The Fordsville native was a housewife. She was a member of Fordsville Baptist Church, Fordsville Lions Club and AARP. Her husband, Wilbur W. Keown, died May 3, 1992.
Survivors include a sister, Nancy Ruth Huff of Fordsville; and several nephews and nieces.

GREENVILLE - Chalma Lee "Bill" Butler, 90, of Greenville died there Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Belle Meade Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. The Benton native was a retired carpenter and grocery store owner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Gold Butler.
Survivors include a stepson, Terry Gold of Greenville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a cousin.

CROMWELL - Frances Westerfield Haven, 77, of Cromwell died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at her home. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Glendon Haven; three daughters, Sharon Williams-Kosfeld and Marsha Powell, both of Louisville, and Kathy Ford of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Glen Westerfield of Florida, Jack Westerfield of Indiana, James Westerfield of Tennessee and David Westerfield of Georgia; and three sisters, Wilma Renfrow of Beaver Dam and Yvonne Brown and Linda Jo Westerfield, both of Evansville.

Joseph C. Higdon

Joseph C. Higdon, 88, of 410 West Ninth St., Owensboro, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Paducah. The St. Lawrence native was a funeral service associate at Glenn Funeral Home for 37 years and a member of St. Stephen Cathedral, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. The Navy veteran of World War II, survived the sinking of USS North Hampton and was a driver for Adm. William "Bull" Halsey Jr. His wife, Mary Ellen Higdon, died July 21, 2001.
Survivors include four sons, Charles A. "Tony" Higdon and John W. Higdon, both of Owensboro, M. Larry Higdon of Island and W. Frederick Higdon of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters, Joellen Ivey and Helena Schultz, both of Paducah; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Victor Higdon of Louisville; and two sisters, Olivia Cassidy of Louisville and Sister Rose Henry Higdon of Nerix.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
